It depends. If a person feels that he or she can not bear the burden of relationships in life. If it constantly brings nothing but heartbreaks. Then a human bieng can choose to stay alone. Also, its written in the Quran, Is the Lord not sufficient for his servant? Its good to have marriage if you can bear it. If you have the means and mental capacity. But its not obligatory.

Happiness is never associated with others. Its an inside thing. An attitude. You can enjoy your whole life alone without giving a fkcu.
