Yeah the last two points I can totally relate to. I feel you girl.

I have never found a man who looks like me physically. There seems to be very few who match the rest of the criteria you mentioned.....which is the entire crux of the problem. Can I just get philosophical for a moment here?...wouldn't wanting our clone be a tad narcissistic? And if not that, wouldn't it create a lopsided lifestyle rather than balance. I personally wouldn't want someone who is my exact opposite in the name of balance, however some similarities would be good. I personally feel lik…

When I see men like this, I tell them I too would like a wife. Though have ya'll seen the Anime House husband? That would work. He can defend the house too.

A liberal and still not comfortable with porn. SO many men are addicted! It's disheartening. After being married to a man with this problem, it's so easy to spot which is good. Also, spotting it has shown me how widespread it is.

It could be small mindedness, yes. Also, it could be the bs women have to deal with here. US is just different. I've been to Japan, Indonesia and Kuwait. For the sake of honesty I will say I'm a woman myself. Also the times I was very soft and sweet, the dudes usually thought I was in love with them immediately. So idk, kinda feels like there's no winning here sometimes.

I would ask for a minimum of $15 per hour no matter where I am in the country (USA). That is the baseline to survive on your own (barely in a lot of areas) with inflation right now. Get a part time office job that allows you some choices over your environment since you have neuro issues. I'd personally avoid call centers. Just find an administrative job to start. Another consideration could be security guard somewhere easy. Edited to add you could start volunteering at a food bank, food pantry o…

This comment was awhile ago, so I had to reread to remember what it was about. Ok, so from what you say, then yeah, I'd honestly drop the schooling and focus more on workplace skills and resume building. Take one of those jobs you were offered! The teaching one seems cool and like the type of thing you could keep potentially falling back on. No one can take away your language knowledge, paper or not. I think it's probably going to be more impressive to an employer to just note your level of skil…

I think it's time you find ways to take your power back. A book called "Rising Strong" by Brene Brown helped me.

Yes you're correct, run when you see men like this. My ex was like this. Long periods of time of this gas lighting will break you down.

You could finish and have that paper just to have it for jobs? Unless it would be useless then why bother? For the 'real' knowledge, what about the free classes online at Harvard or Yale? Lots of free information out there. It could help you figure out what interests you too.

I feel better knowing another woman on this thread feels this way. I have been ridiculed in the past for wanting to be left alone when I'm at home. You're in the right sis. He can pout all he wants.

Well, it's only because I married one and was actually driven crazy. Like full on bipolar diagnosis. I wasn't bipolar. I married the embodiment of my childhood abuse and he triggered my PTSD....purposely I might add. When I left him he said he thought I should go back on meds. One last ditch attempt to gaslight I guess. It as been seven years and he's still awful.

I think most men just mean they want aggressive sex. Agressive sex is not the same as the trait of being a strong woman/person. Not even close actually. They are separate things. Thanks, porn industry.

Just adding to say I'm pretty sure I had the pathological alienation from my mother towards my father and it ruined any possibility of a positive relationship. I'm working with social workers already. Thus the team meeting. I need time to make more money for the lawyer part to happen. My goals are to continue with my business and get a day job. The business is sustaining itself so far. That usually doesn't happen right away so I think it's a good start. Get adequate housing. Currently with the price hikes I can only do a one bedroom. I think you have a few things going on here. You want space and he isn't respecting your wishes and is continuing to extract attention from you. Next time he shows up uninvited, refuse to see him. Let him know that this is what you will do. He is not a problem solver and he's not validating. You can't do anything about that. He hasn't taken the time to educate himself. He sounds annoying honestly, but I could be picturing the wrong thing here as I'm reading what you wrote. The other ladies here …

I wonder if they can't get an accurate swab because it can't go deep enough? I'm not sure. I do know they found it in a man's throat once and I think it's funny to hear men bring this up and even they don't realize they can't get tested. If a man is over the age of 35, I just assume he has some of the strains of HPV.
/r/askFDS09/04/21 04:14 AM

There's no HPV test for men unfortunately. I was pissed when I found that out. It's not information that is made obvious to women.

Hit the nail on it's head there. I usually translate people proudly stating that they're 'Sarcastic' as this.

I wouldn't stick around to do combat with words/ distancing either in regards to the behaviors you've described. Perhaps the person who wrote the book has the belief that it's ok to put up with this stuff as long as it doesn't happen all the time? Who knows, but the FDS handbook made more sense to me.

Yeah once a guy starts making large commitment statements with saying 'forever,' I go on guard because it never turns out well. I really wish people would take their word choices more seriously and use their words more accurately when discussing a relationship.

Yeah he's not going to be able to have a healthy relationship. He probably has a lot more sideways ideas. He reminds me of one I had a date with awhile back. Wanted so badly to say the right things, but it was so obvious he didn't believe what was coming out of his own mouth.

Regarding seeking outward validation, I do this every time I dress traditionally super womanly with the heels, and skirts or dresses. Push up bras. The truth is that I hate most women's clothes. Heels hurt my back, skinny jeans cut off my circulation, and push up bras are also uncomfortable. I prefer practical clothes. I get more compliments when I choose to dress up though. Struggling to find a happy medium. I'm not exactly sure how to teach other women to take back their worthiness. I do encou…

Inconsistent in how often they contact you with no explanation. Flaky with dates. Ugh. No thanks to all that nonsense. I had a guy text me at 3am once saying he was sick. I didn't get it till morning, but it was annoying to read his whining to me first thing in the morning. I don't like being the involuntary emotional dumping grounds. Add that to the list too!

I'm finally dating again, but it's a lot of first dates and quick ruling out of people who aren't going to be good for me. It took me quite awhile to start back up though after the last one. It's ok if you don't want to date. Try to not isolate though.

When I was mid divorce, my ex husband would say things like "No one else will ever love you." Then two years later wanted to get back together. With dating, most of the time it's an apology or something to the effect of not wanting to put up with my "shit." My "shit" being sharing what I think about whatever he has done.

At what point are you laying out the rules for these men? Or are you simply leading with your behavior instead of outright stating your expectations?
