Question for the comments: how many years do you think is decent before you start to feel like you need to be married? 1-2 years sounds really short to me, personally.

It’s really, really hard. Sometimes they don’t want to talk and it can feel like you’re out of the loop. They don’t want to be babied, even if that’s how a lot of us want to show that we care. Don’t pry, and meet them where they’re at. Provide soft touch, a pat on the shoulder as you walk by, a squeeze of the hand, and a kiss on the cheek. He will know what you mean by it. It does get lonely, but it will get better in time. It is best to leave him alone, and he will come to you when ready.

1000000000000% this. My parents never taught me to consider how I will feel about employment when I start a family. They raised me to be completely financially independent. And that isn’t necessarily MY plan after all, but it took me years to realize. Now I have to consider changing fields and/or getting a new certificate, degree etc to maintain income on MY terms. It’s one of the most worrying things I think about. I really struggle with it.

I work in a medical laboratory. I work with a lot of women. My career doesn’t affect my femininity. I’m able to dress “up” slightly by wearing makeup and earrings but I have to keep my clothes very safe (ugly but comfy clogs, hair up, no rings/bracelets and short nails). My career funds my femininity because I am better able to take care of myself and buy nice things. My career also benefits my relationship. I don’t ever really have to pay for much but it helps to know that I’m able to. I also p…

I keep myself busy. Gym, books, movies, walking outdoors, groceries, cooking, laundry, long in depth showers, doing my hair. I don’t like to be alone with nothing to do. That’s when I start to feel lonely.

🚩 going to a concert, bar or club is not itself a hoe thing or a validation thing. He should trust you to be loyal and reject other men when they approach you. I like to go out with women in relationships because we all just focus on fun with each other, instead of everyone focusing on flirting with men which gets old. Especially if you’re going to a friends house party, it’s normal for him to check in but he should be fine with you going. Just ask if constant communication is good enough. Like …

You should try and find a sport (or tv show?)you both enjoy. You really shouldn’t feel like you’re forced to sit there and enjoy something you simply don’t. Maybe if you really have to, fold laundry while the game is on? Or paint your nails? Coloring book?

Dads are so important to daughters. It’s good that you are already so loving that you are asking and taking initiative to be a good father. Be present and instill rules and subtly instill good values by living in those values and showing why they’re present in your home. Also, don’t force anything because that’s why daughters act out and resist their parents. Be completely honest. Tell them that they can talk to you (or mom) about anything at all and really mean it. Prepare for the day she asks …

Ambitious to me means that they are always striving to be better and setting a plan to conquer their goals. Especially with things that are sure to be challenging and difficult. A lot of the time that will be towards higher career positions ($$) but often it can mean losing weight, building muscle, learning a language/instrument.

Keep going. I have worked with many doctors who became mothers and now only work part time. Either only half the week or all week until noon. And I see that they leave early sometimes to see their kids play sports and music. When it’s time to match, try an outpatient specialty with lots of options for independent practice. Hospital jobs are really demanding and work 24/7 so the off shifts will be hard to work around. It can definitely be achieved.

So… I love V-day. Our anniversary is 1 week after so we usually do something intimate and inexpensive at home. Now that I’m working, I don’t want to cook a meal and waste time cooking/cleaning because I have to go to bed early for work. So I decided to pick up some steaks and sides with some wine for a nice dinner that we can make quickly and with no cleanup. That way we can spend more time together. And I got some fun lingerie but the real nice stuff is for the anniversary. I usually make somet…

If you’re concerned about cute gym wear, cutting a shirt into a crop top always elevates the look, even in sweat pants! Or you could tie the shirt into a crop if you don’t want to cut it. You don’t have to look super dolled up, like you said, it’s the gym. Catch him when he’s doing nothing, like resting, don’t interrupt his flow. Then ask him a question about one of the machines, or ask him for a spot!! Then say thank you, and that you’re glad he was around to ask because you recognize him and h…

Hmm... I think I can help. One of my habits include going to the coffee shop every morning. I get $1 coffees and maybe I’d be better off financially by making coffee at home, but I like driving and getting out of bed in the morning instead of staying home. I go grocery shopping maybe twice a week and I always go during off hours when it’s a little empty so I can kind of just take my time. I do a lot of window shopping. Yes yes yes to getting a dog! I get so jealous of all my friends with dogs because they make them so productive. Can’t get up late because the dog needs to be taken out, and always has to be active and take on walks. Also, I think it would make me feel safer to have a dog and I’d be able to go out more often because I’d be more comfortable.

I don’t care about being modest... at all. But I have seen some of my more modest friends wear leggings at the gym by wearing a jacket tied around their waist or a longer stringer type shirt. They’re flowy and not right at all. They also make similar loose styled tunics.

I also agree. Marriage or children are worth fighting through to the last bit. But just a boyfriend? Unless this is a 5+ year LTR then there’s really no point. “Leave him” is good advice in those cases.

I was definitely on the sweatpants and t shirt vibe early on but that got very old. When I go shopping, sometimes it’s the only time I get to leave the house so I do try and put some decent clothes on. It’s not about being presentable, it just makes me feel more “normal.” I even put on some jeans and I think it made me a little happier. If it makes you feel better to put in a dress and some jewelry just to pick up the dry cleaning, he will notice that happiness.

Earrings. I am not able to wear rings or bracelets at work so I wear nice earrings. They’re usually small, either big studs or small dangles. It just makes me feel a little more glam everyday. When I’m not at work I wear hoops and that gives me a little pep in my step.

This should be a dealbreaker. It is obviously a bad situation because you love him, but this is the biggest, brightest red flag you’re going to get. So you stay home and he... stays home too? Will you still love him when you guys can’t pay for rent, food, or any of your dependent’s needs? You’re 20. Don’t bother. I know you love him so let me comfort you by saying if you leave him and make it because of his laziness, he might change and you guys may still have a shot. But if he doesn’t change...…

A lot of black women wear them because their hair takes a long time to “comb and style.” Or some women wear one at the end of the night when they take their wig off. It’s very common and you will see a lot of them if you visit a store later at night. They also make some bonnet silk lined hats that look like beanies or baseball caps if you want to look more dressed up.

I don't wear acrylics anymore. Keep them short and clean, if they get long then they can drag on your quads during deadlifts and leave scratches. I don't mind the scratches as much as I hate how it makes the lift slower. Hair is tough... don't cut it too short or you won't be able to put on a ponytail. I like headbands to cover up the oily sweaty mess while I run errands. I keep a brush on me just to comb out the ratty bun but I think braids work best. It's just so hot in Texas that I pile it up…

I’m gonna be brutally honest here. Birth control pills made by boobs bigger, skin clearer, and body hair thinner. It was awesome. It also gave me a great deal of sexual confidence and freedom. Haha that’s a good point! I think I’m Texas, many people are prudes but it is just so HOT that it’s reaching that time of year where you just have to wear as little clothes as your comfortable with just to survive and not get bad tan lines. There are some beaches, like Galveston, where a thong bikini will not be the norm because it’s a “family vacation” spot. Then there’s South Padre Island, where they’re more common because that’s the “spring break/party” beach. We do have a nude lake in Austin…

Interesting perspective. Are you American? If so, how would you describe American culture’s position on bikinis? I’d say it varies. Thong bikinis are more popular in tourist places like Cali and Florida, but not as much in Texas or any other southern coastal area. I agree that in my personal culture, wearing a conservative bikini is not popular. I personally would not (do not) change the clothing I wear based on the crowd I’m going to be in, but I respect and understand your choice. I feel like …

You should watch Trixie Mattel’s videos on Barbie through the decades. It’s really fun because the dolls are all so pretty but Trixie dives in to a lot of Barbie history. Often, the dolls reflect the time in history. She made a point to say that originally, the allure of Barbie was to give your daughter a doll to show her that you should always be well groomed and do certain things like how “cooking Barbie” did.

Hey! I have dermatillomania and I beat nail biting years ago. One thing that really helped with both was acrylic nails. They are blunt and thick at the ends and it makes it harder to pick your face and leave marks. Also, it made me stop biting my nails because they were fake now and I couldn’t get to the real ones. Go to school. Make sure you leave with a skill, not just a degree. If you end up getting married and being a SAHM, that is totally fine. Lifting will make your body change but it won’t make you not fat. I would try just lifting for a couple of weeks, and if you still feel like you’re not leaning out then add in cardio. Even 15 min of cardio before and after a session can make a difference! Since you’re working out for aesthetics and not strength yet, try to work in higher rep ranges and consider circuit workouts. The scenario I described did not take condoms into account. What I meant by risks that come along with PIV sex is the risk to STD’s. It’s called down and dirty for a reason. You gotta risk it to get the biscuit. If you had beaver fever, you’d know it pretty quickly. Even moreso for shigella and c. pylori. If you’re sick, obviously don’t eat ass or let anyone eat your ass. Assuming the partners are healthy and vaccinated for hep A, the risk of pathogenic infection is negligible. The discrepancy is due to the fact that men are more likely to have comorbidities. In China it was found that men were much more likely to smoke than women, and since it’s a respiratory disease that’s a big problem. I imagine the same is true here in the US. This is so interesting! I don’t plan on having children for a long time, but I am very involved in skincare AND fitness so this is really up my alley. As far as skincare, I’d say ages 1-10 it is important to supply your children with fragrance free and gentle shampoo, body wash and face wash. Look up Dr. Dray on YouTube. She’s kind of annoying but pretty much everything she says about skincare is spot on. Get an instant pot or a crock pot! It’s super easy and versatile. Just dump your food in & wait, and it always comes out right! Other than that, learn to make chicken in the oven (it’s less messy than the skillet) and boil some potatoes until a knife runs through them easily, steam a bag of veggies in the microwave like the package says, and make some oven Nestle toll house cookies for after. The key to making it tasty is in the spices for something like this. If you need more inspiration for da…

I buy one of those ready to go rotisserie chickens, a bag of microwave steamable veggies, some powdered mashed potatoes and Hawaiian bread rolls. Takes about 10 min to prep and it’s soooo yummy!

I disagree with many of the comments- her body is very attainable aside from the obvious breast implants. She isn’t very muscular, she’s just well defined because of her relatively low body fat. I’d say my figure is a lot like hers, but I have more fat in my legs and butt. You can make great strides with lifting, but just know that if you’re cutting it is unlikely that you will build any muscle, at the most you’ll just maintain what you have. Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t neglect your u…

I have a lot of qualms about it. Not only Always, but Trans women in sports (my sport specifically, powerlifting) hurts women a lot. We’ve fought hard for our spaces and to show that women can lift great deals of weight and now they’re trying to diminish that fight. Plus, the whole “latinx” thing that is being pushed on the Spanish language and it’s young speakers... dude when is it going to end?

I used to love acrylic nails but can’t have them at work. I also can’t have painted nails... so I just keep them bare :(

Yes, the only beneficial part of a sheet mask is the serum, so why not just buy the serum and use it more often? The sheet itself does absolutely nothing. Even a serum can only do SO much when used once like how people use masks.

Am I the only one who thinks sheet face masks are a load of garbage? I have combination skin, but I think maybe they're more favorable among people with dry skin. Clay ones, or the ones that you rub on and harden tend to work 99% of the time, but sheet masks are very gimmicky. Skin care is a great stress relief for me, I love having those 5 minutes of peace with myself at night before bed.

Omg I thought you were a whole adult. It’s perfectly normal to go to music festivals of any kind as a teen, not that it’s abnormal for an adult to do so as well but it’s definitely different. I think you’re going fine!

It’s perfectly possible to be a rpw and maintain more masculine interests. I’m a competitive powerlifter and my other hobby is fixing up my cars. My career is more masc than fem, but I still maintain the natural feminine interests I’ve always had like cooking and taking care of pets and plants (no babies for a while). You’re bound to attract guys in these male-dominated areas, and most of them won’t be boyfriend material, but it shouldn’t keep you from finding a boyfriend worth your while. If he…

Ms. Honey from Mathilda, Celia Foote from The Help, Sandra Bullock’s character in The Blind Side, I could go on and on!

You need to move on. You have grown as an adult and he has not, part of a relationship is growing together. It can take sacrifice and compromise but if one partner lags behind it starts to strain the relationship. He doesn’t sound like he’s upholding his relationship or keeps you as a priority. As much as you think you’re the “mean” one, he seems to be worse if not just as bad. Get a job and leave.

Losing 3 lbs will not make a significant difference in your physique. The best way to have longevity in fitness is to develop great time management and dedication before you have children. The best advice I can give you in your situation is to try and just gain muscle and strength, which allows you to eat carbs. Don’t be restrictive to such a degree that you can’t enjoy dinner with your husband, carbs are not your enemy. When you see them give you more energy and strength, you’ll welcome them an…

My favorite shade for year round is the pink shade similar to the KKW packaging. It’s a nice nude pink that works for everything. I like red for Christmas and Valentine’s Day, and go plum or wine colored in the fall. For beach/pool time I usually go a bright neon pink.

Get a plant/dog. I don’t want children for a long time but I find it really nice to do motherly things. I feel happy and good about myself when I make my boyfriend & dad breakfast, when I see my plants flourish, or when I feed the cat. It makes me feel purposeful everyday and fulfills my need to care and have something depend on me.

I want to add that this is the best time to develop good habits, whether that be keeping physically active or learning how to cook. I want to add a mistake I made concerning the way I talk. I grew up speaking somewhat vulgar (like a sailor) and sort of street. It's very unlikely of me because I was/am a straight A student and not a trouble maker. However, this was the way I spoke around my peers because it was quite normal. I thought nothing of it until I realized it wasn't just the way I spoke …

Honestly, I do a lot of things to make myself look good that my man doesn’t know about. Kind of how you don’t let them see you get ready before a date. And that’s okay. At the end of the day, I look hot and that’s what matters. I spend a lot of money on preventative skin care, I’m only 20 so I don’t have to do any serious treatments but that’s why I spend a lot of money on skincare now, so I can PREVENT the necessity for more expensive fillers later. Still, I know that if I wanted them, I would …

Most of the women in my community college classes are stay at home moms. I think it’s a great idea to pursue education while you tend to your kids in their early years. Kudos to them, college is hard enough but adding being a mom/wife is even harder.

Lots of people are saying this doesn't apply to them but I feel like it applies to me. I don't have a lot of energy, I sleep a lot, and I need things to get me out of bed. I'm still an active person, but it's because I put myself up to it.

I love sewing! I sewed and embroidered when I was really young, my grandma taught me how and I really enjoy it! Embroidery is a great stress relief, just sitting on the porch and doing it feels really healthy for my heart sometimes. I've only ever hand sewn but when my boyfriend would come home with rips in his jeans or on the armpits of his shirts I would sew them up without being asked and I think he thought it was sweet. I also like to sew up the holes in our old blankets, it makes me happy f…

Soon my boyfriend and I will be moving into my family home from our own apartment. It's not as bad as it sounds because nobody lives there 4 days out of the week, but it's going to be a change in pace because we have to be conscious and respectful of my family's way of doing things. I think it's the best thing to do until we both finish school soon.

I’m a young woman and I feel similarly. I grew up as an only child so to bond with my dad he taught me how to do masculine things like drive stick, work on cars, fix the house etc. I’m also a competitive weightlifter. Still, I never turned into a tomboy or lost touch with my feminine side. I think it’s unfair to girls to only depict girly girls as vapid and arrogant, and to depict tomboys as strong and superior. It shows them there are only two types of women they can become, which is super dupe…

Lazy writing of women is to blame. It’s a very simple character to create, it’s hard to write women who are complex in film. There’s a great video on YouTube about writing good female characters https://youtu.be/5asVUCGmmEE. I personally liked Captain Marvel, the character grew on me but I definitely noticed what you are saying.

I completely agree. Plenty of women love STEM, I couldn’t imagine my life without it. It is a huge confidence booster knowing I am great at what I do- and I do STEM.
