Rule number one? Edit: Oh, is this a Fight Club reference?

Your edit pretty much says it all. Good realizations. Keep on truckin.

I think this is the perfect opportunity to work on general social skills and inner game. Don't get me wrong, these both might be pretty strong already, but maybe you'll have a chance during the day to meditate or read something to help you focus on your mental goals. Also, you can do your best to learn about the people you're around (soldiers or civilians) and their culture. I think we can all do well by recognizing any opportunites for growth and taking advantage of them when they present thems…

Glad you talked to her. "We suffer one of two things. Either the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. You’ve got to choose discipline, versus regret, because discipline weighs ounces and regret weighs tons." -Jim Rohn from "Conversations with Millionaires"

You make a good point, however, if you have great success using only this frame as a tactic, you just have natural game. Some need more steps and more techniques to "get there". I mostly agree with you - Occam's Razor that shit.

Well, there's two possible conclusions to draw here. "I'm the shit, I fucked her like a BOSS, her loss. (I'm not shitty.)" or "Hmm, maybe I need to learn about banging. (I am shitty.)" Neither of these is bad really, and the OP framed it pretty positively, alluding to taking action: Guess it's time to study up! His self-esteem wasn't necessarily hurt; he might have just been being realistic.

Also, someone stated somewhere, to talk to guys you really only need to be able to lightly converse about 3 things: Sports, beer, and women.

Good correction here. "Pick up" is an action. "Having game" is a set of traits, accompanied by a state of mind.

Alright, I'm a HUGE proponent of the squat and even more so, the deadlift. I have to say here, deadlifting IS NOT less risk. OK, it might be less from the perspective that the weight isn't on top of you. But the fact is, deadlifting can screw you over hardcore if you don't know what you're doing. Watch out for that rounding of the lower back. For ANY compound lift, PLEASE do your best to learn it from someone competent.

Yeah, I'm kinda muscular and I'm pretty far off from being ripped (far-off as in, my 16 week cycle is 16 weeks away.) Anyway, my point is I think the skinny look is pretty baller. I can't get there, you're already there. Get some slim-fit clothing and roll with it. IF you're holocaust thin, I'd probably work out if I were you, without going to wild on additional calories. But definitely take a protein shake.

I'm sure I could find something to dispute here. But the truth is, mostly, you're fuckin right on. Edit: Man I think this is particularly important: Last bits of advice, All this stuff is good to think about and put into practice, but don't worry about it while you're talking to somebody. Just let it flow, don't consider what you're working on until afterwards and then reflect on what you did good and what you did bad. It sounds cheesy but it'll help you cut out mistakes and increase positives. …

What concerns me here is what i consider a discrepancy in game theory. I was taught was to not buy girls drinks. It's supplicating. Is this incorrect? I suppose it seems alright in the "I'll get the first round.." case, but otherwise no.

I appreciate your reply, and especially like your last paragraph. Kinda like never having a battle between 2 sides of yourself, but just skipping to handling what you need to. I'm hoping my battle will ultimately evolve into something such as this.

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to argue that whatever inner confidence you or others may have, is in fact due to the small victories I've pointed out. Really, I just think they go hand in hand, victory and confidence. It's the chicken in the egg argument, they are each others cause and effect. Maybe you've figured out something beyond my mental capacity, in which case I applaud you. But my confidence goes up when I have small victories. It doesn't just spiral upward for no reason. Relating this …

I understand you may have a different viewpoint. However, you define close-mindedness when you state that my opinion of how to be happy in life is "the wrong path to lead".

Thanks for the input. Maybe my style is very western, maybe it's just different. The fact is, I respect the man who will have everything handled, inside and out, and I will strive to become my own ideal. Maybe you're right, you can have happiness in the moment. But what happens when I come home, my place looks like shit, and my roommates hate me because I'm a lazy ass? I'll agree that perhaps confidence can come from anywhere, but contentment is a different story. You can be total loser by the w…
