Is a lack of self-esteem a huge turn off for guys? A bit... I think women are their own worst critic. Most guys as others have noted see physical attributes first. What I will say is don’t be passive. I feel like many women feel like a guy will come waltzing into their life because that is what society teaches them. Particularly from their favorite romcom. That’s Hollywood this is real life. One thing I appreciated from my ex was she sent me texts after the first few dates. It was just random th…

I feel like I’m in the same boat. It’s something I am actively trying to weed out of my head. It’s one of those lies you tell yourself. Especially in the cultural area I am in that is a bit more religious and people get married much younger. So you compare yourself to people who are on their 4th kid, got the house, and the dog. With the pellet grill in the backyard. You can’t do that to yourself. Don’t covet or wish for what others have. Go get what you want. That is going to take study, practic…

I would say even if you do everything right or even if you think you’re safe in a relationship. My ex dumped me for dubious reasons that I don’t actually understand fully. I have my own theories because what she told as reasons don’t line up to me. She tended to have an avoidant attachment pattern. I don’t think that’s what It was but reading online it seems to line up. Where we would have a great night and she would retreat. Apologize about it and we would have another great night and do the sa…

My hypothesis is the guy wouldn’t care. It would be even. I don’t think guys care at all. If she is hot most guys would give them a shot.

I have been that a few times. It sucks. It’s basically putting yourself into an emotional stockholm syndrome. “If I am good friend just maybe one day she will reciprocate.” This mindset will beat the crap out of you emotionally.

now we are away from each othere so we can’t really set a date OP is not explaining it very well. I think he means they live far away from each other. It’s harder to make plans if they live in another country or state. I think the suggestions of FaceTiming is a good idea.

That's pretty much it. Not sure why it worked but if I had to guess it was helping you recognize you actually we're anxious. I remember after watching Iron Man 3 when he has the panic attack and thinking "That's exactly what it feels like!" It's hard to explain it because it's a weird feeling but giving a name to it I guess helps you understand you are feeling something. Everyone has that voice in their mind that tells them they can't do something. So better give that voice a name and tell it to…

This is actually a tool therapist and counselors give to people. It's to personify your feelings. I dealt with a spat of anixety after a severe tragic event. I was told to give my anixety a name and to essentially to tell it off.

Maybe I should give this experiment a solid go. I don’t think I am a ugly dude. I dress nice, go to the gym, hold onto a career job, and etc but I feel like this might help push that self confidence further into the positive.

It’s the Dobler/Dahmer Theory. https://youtu.be/jkQJKeO8zUo

I also think with teasing and the inflection on your voice. Smile when you are saying things makes it always come out in a positive inflection. I am pretty deadpan with humor so I have to make sure I have a smile and good inflection because often my jokes are missed or misunderstood because I deliver them so dry. However sometimes being deadpan can work but it is much easier to smile with a tease.

You respond, yes it is a date. I see your apprehsion though. You are scared if you do tbis you will lose a friend, right? Been there done that. Here is a bit of advice from an older fellow since it was mentioned somewhere you are 19. I wasted time being afraid of losing a friend when I should of asked them out or told them how I felt. She is your friend now but friends drift apart. She could move somewhere or you will. You might meet some new people and start hanging out with them or etc. Long s…

Pretty much this. Technology has created social anxiety with a lot of people. So we over analyze everything that we send or receive. On top of it the metoo movement, while positive, has added to this social anxiety with men. Nobody wants to come across "creepy." I don't have anything to back that up but that is what I have observed. Because of this nobody really knows how to talk with each other and are afraid of saying the wrong thing.

Yep stay away! I have wasted to much time on wishy washy girls. If you she doesn’t think it’s worth giving up her time for you move on.

There’s the TL;DR!

It’s simple, Just do it. There is no magic bullet or action. It’s just a simple action of deciding to do something. I’ve been there and was oblivious with a ton of different girls. Don’t dwell on it and learn from it and decide not to do it again. It’s scary I know and I still get scared but even when you fail you won’t regret it. If you do nothing that’s when you start to regret things.

Yes exactly. I used to blame others for lack of friends and etc. The selfish thought of does anybody think about me? When reality you shouldn't care. Why? It's unhelpful thinking you can't read people's minds. You also can't control what other people do. You only can control what you do.

Guys really do appreciate communication like this. Unless they are dick. I have to say though dating the right person shouldn't be a stresser. Being with people you care about is a destresser. So I think the OPs point still stands because if it's important to you, you will make time for it. I highly doubt anyone's life is so hectic they can't be a good partner. Everyone has at least a spare hour everyday.

Despite me disagreeing with the above comment, What is he or we supposed to do about that? We really don’t have control what other people do besides condemning those actions.

How do you get through life without cold approaching? You want to make friends you have to talk to people. You see someone at party you want to get to know you have to go up and cold approach them and introduce yourself. Just look at networking and making friends it’s almost the same principles as this very sub. I can understand approaches like “I think you’re hot!” Or “Hey Baby, how are you doing?” When I think of a cold approach I see it more like this. “Hey my name is blank.” and then you go …

It’s the whole Hitch movie situation. A girl not understanding the purpose of the sub and thinks it is to teach guys how to get in bed with girls. When it’s more like the movie is that it’s teaching guys to have meaningful connections with women.

Look I'm 30 and still a virgin, part of that is a religious decision of waiting till marriage and the other big part is I suck at dating and otherwise seduction. Also I hadn't kissed a girl till I was about your age. It's also been a spell of a few years since I've kissed a girl. It's taken me years to finally accept I have a problem and I am working on fixing it. You just commenting here says you want to change and be better and it says a lot. Change takes time, it takes practice, and it takes …

Seeking compliments? I don't know you but sure, yeah you are good enough. In fact I don't know anybody that isn't good enough. Also if you are basing your happiest on whether you get that "one" hot girl that's not the way to lead your life. How many times you hook up will never ever bring you happiness. Maybe for a small moment but in the grand scheme of things it is tiny. Life is so much more then dating and sex. Personally I'm single myself and still a virgin (that's mostly by choice.) I'm not…
