Yeah it's not black and white. This situation is crystal clear. You're the mud in the water here.

I'll be honest here and say that I am simply too intimidated to go to Zumba and I love dancing.

Does that make it acceptable then? How about we live in a self regulating society where people are governed by a personal code of morality and dare I say it - feelings - instead of your proposed authoritarian stanzas, something which would leave me cold too... I haven't said we need create an oppressive environment at any stage - we should call out asshats as being asshats however. It needs to be done.

Part of the trouble is that men seem to need group activities to base friendships around - we aren't so good at just sitting round and discussing feelings or even "the failings of women" - although this sub may challenge that opinion. Marriage destroys men's active lives. It seems you become a workhorse with your partner resenting so much of your free time. Ultimately its why so many blokes turn to the football - they can hide their social lives behind the clockwork camaraderie of loving those a…

Again, you're re-framing street harassment as mild flirtation. I again return to my original standpoint that no human should have to deal with. How can I be so sure? The guys doing the harassment knocked out another guy for questioning their behaviour. That is the litmus test in this situation. What you're trying to do is merely use the idea of harmless flirtation to make the man who got cold cocked into an example to fit your beliefs on the responses of women to so called alpha type behaviour. …

And I seriously doubt this was stopping the car to just tell the young women to smile. Get real man. You're simply re-framing this situation into one where you can dismiss the feelings of the women. That's as bad as what people like you claim radfems do to men. For the record, you have no idea what I have no idea about.

This is a sad story. As a long term reader of Men's Rights this is a new low for this group. We talk all the time about being egalitarians - well no-one, men or women, should have to put up with street harassment and this guy stood up for what he believed in - humanity. White knight or no white knight those other guys were cunts.

If you read this article here she admits that she "blagged her way through her tutorials by linking all of her topics to gender" - so basically admitting this is low-balling her way through a course at a prestigious university. One also has to question her own political motives here in what seems to be a power drive move to claim the presidency as her own - she has done all she can to blacken this guys name.

Don't you think they could do more...? We're men for God's sake. If they had half an ounce of gumption they could set up sports teams, get involved in political dissent, band together and be strong, united as MEN should be against the forces that drive them down. And the thing is we're the ones letting them down. We're the ones who are failing to get together as men and show them the alternatives. It's up to us to make it so there's a place in society for these young damaged men. We should be th…

Thank you. You're right about the reciprocal violence. Although sometimes people are pushed to their very limit of understanding and tolerance. I know this isn't an excuse, but if you keep pushing a scared animal or a male child into something they don't want to do, then they're going to bite the whip hand.

What's with the hmmm? Maybe some gay or trans people might be sick of being 'out there' and may seek acceptance from the 'normal' majority of society. They could view being a member of the MRM as being out on limb?

I like the fact that the men's rights movement often seems to have it's roots in the transgendered male. After all, do these men not feel the affects of gender inequality in the most acute manner?

It's just not once does it state that "the child was fucked up after his parents divorce" - To me this looks like a cleverly constructed piece of buck shifting.
/r/MensRights21/07/12 04:54 PM

That's ad hominum. There is a complete failure to deal with the child's emotional issues and they are never mentioned. This is the basis for the narcissism, albeit high-functioning.

Disagree. The riots were caused by a bunch of young males who have zero positive male role models in their life. You cannot lay the blame completely at the door of the rich. These are kids who have grown up with no opportunities, because they have no drive, no ambition and more importantly are never shown how to assert themselves as men. I believe that some of the blame must go on the fathers, who left their families, but there is more of a problem caused by the climate of zero responsibility ov…

The step mother not once refers to the child's emotional state. For me the fact that the kid is painted entirely bad and the mother is entirely sorry and trying to wring her hands in disbelief sounds to me like bullshit. I imagine the child just wanted to get left alone by the step-mother for some time. It sounds to me as if she exhibits some of the traits of a narcissistic personality. What more could they have done? Allowed the child to have grief over the death of his parents relationship, in…

Then the problem is not this cartoon on it's own, but when taken as part of the swathe of art and media depicting male on female DV it starts to look like a movement. However if this movement does exist, then it is expertly hiding behind plausible deniability.

Plump and happy? Really... Doesn't the latest research say that women on the whole used to be happier than men in the 1950s but are now unhappier with life than men in the 2010s. One of the mute points of feminism.

Again, you attempt to reframe the argument by missing the central point. You are entrenching yourself in a minor semantic point in order to minimise the my main argument about the image of female on male violence. It's a clever tactic, but one I'm not falling for.

What a bullshit requirement? Well, I'll say at this point you've completely ignored my original post, which was actually sympathising with my average western sister and the heavy cost of image based advertising she's put under. It's nice to actually see that you, like I, do understand some of the problems that each other's gender faces, rather than you trying to pull apart a comment I made that ACTUALLY supported one of the most common complaints of women, not just feminists.

tl;dr : One word. Advertising. Long version: I believe that the female personality type is inherently more prone to image based manipulation than the male. Women are also more socially submissive than men. I feel really sorry for the ladies being constantly bombarded with messages about themselves that do really deeply affect them in a way we as men cannot understand. This might sound like a strange point, but advertising is the bible and sacred scripture of the chuch of materialism - the religi…

Firstly, I'm not offended. My criticism of the incident is based on the fact that this is one of a number of images that exists within young people's and children's media that suggests that it is acceptable for women to commit violence against men. We see this image repeated over and over again, and the problem with it in my opinion is that it says to young girls that acting out aggression towards men is fine. There are no cartoons, or shows, or even stories that suggest to the same audience tha…

/r/MensRights29/06/12 05:47 PM

The original argument from feminists against porn was not that actresses were involved in it, it was about the objectification of women. Now, as with many issues the feminist lobby has been caught standing on shifting sands as 'porn is made acceptable' their issue now is only with the women involved in porn, who are clearly all victims.

So you're saying we should reject any analysis of this display of female on male violence just so we don't appear like feminists? That's fairly strange. Oh I don't follow what you said? I was merely behaving in accordance with the parameters of this debate that you seem to have initiated. Finally and I do reiterate I used the term "DV manner" to describe the cliched picture of a women beating her husband with a kitchen implement. One that is 'aped' here. Keep on banging that drum sister.
/r/MensRights29/06/12 05:02 PM

My problem is not the female hero. It's the way she asserts herself by constantly 'being better' than the male within the storyline. This is a constant theme within these Disney stories. Just look at Tangled. The female hero ties up the male hero and beats him in a classic "domestic violence" manner. There is no outcry against this. I want to see cartoons where the girls and boys work together. I'm tired of this repeated gender war stuff where it's always weak, pitiful males being put in their p…

My problem is that we need to be classified as individuals. I know loads of ruthless women and plenty of irrational, romantic men. Part of me even thinks to a degree these roles are socially evolved. I do believe we should have true equality, but one where all people are free to be all things (so guys can wear dresses, women can fight men in boxing matches and everyone gets equal access to the kids) - it's a real tough one to sort out however, because to a large degree it's the gender difference…

That's awesome. I've even been at one such circlejerk when I was younger (21 in the horrible 1990s) and was told that my opinion didn't matter because I'm male. So, you're telling me that you know that the media perpetuates stereotypes, but ONLY MALE stereotypes! No - at no point have I said this. why would you be goofy enough to discredit women if they're unhappy about essentially the same thing? It does seem a little like you're saying "I'm a woman who doesn't hate you guys for standing up for themselves... can I have a cookie?" - but then do you know what? I sometimes think that some women elicit a tighter social control on one another than men can ever imagine so fair play for stepping out of character. So my question to you, is what do you think women can do to help change the situation of 'gender relationships' to make the world a better place for both?

I just like dominant women. However, they are incredibly hard to find and usually overawed with the amount of flowers they get sent... We're talking about dating feminists. In my considerable experience many women who consider themselves feminists like to top from the bottom... Meaning they like to control from a projected submissive position. I believe this extends beyond the bedroom with the so called "Damsel in Distress" syndrome.

I've seen many articles like this, but few that actually give answers to what can be done about the situation. This is the social change that we cannot legislate against and as proven cannot argue with feminist about. Men need to take responsibility for this viewpoint in women and show that we are strong, capable and coherent and simply will not accept this behaviour. However, I do believe part of the deeper problem here is the androphobic slant of early education. This is where we have allowed …

OK maybe blog was a generic term, but none the less it's repeated content. If this is a free speech forum then I am free to make any assertions I like, just as you're free to correct as you see fit. I am sure there are online authors who use accounts to push work on here.
/r/MensRights05/06/12 01:07 PM

No, I used specific examples, sticking to the case in point. I am able to find you thousands of examples of advertising that shows men to be hapless around the home, but I am struggling to find any media that exploits the "good girls don't fuck" stereotype that you are trying to set up as a straw man so you can then bash it down.
/r/MensRights05/06/12 11:38 AM

Perhaps not offended... However, I have been parley to women discussing men and the fact that a guy is a man-whore has been treated with derision and he has been thus marked as unsuitable as a friend/lover/boyfriend.
/r/MensRights05/06/12 08:51 AM

Absolutely. I came to this thread to post this opinion.
/r/MensRights05/06/12 08:49 AM

You're just repeating the same argument. or at least one sex is continually told that the other sex dislikes X behavior That simply doesn't happen. Now you're trying to make women look like the victims of a non existent propaganda campaign against their sexuality. What's perhaps more pertinent is the real existence of media campaigns against men's suitability as parents and perhaps you should mull on that...

That is part of the social change that the MRM is trying to be part of... Maybe these guys are doing it more successfilly (see what I did there). Perhaps feminism has used the academic avenues of men to change the world now men will use the social channels for change... I think this is bigger than you realise.

Gee thanks for telling me how to use Reddit. Is there anything else you think I should know?
/r/MensRights04/06/12 11:15 PM
7

That's not true. I've just given you an example (me) of a man who doesn't have a negative opinion of such women so your argument is void. The idea that all men think the same way is ridiculous and incorrect, it is just another case of some women failing to take responsibility for their actions. In life you always have a choice and there will always be naysayers no matter what you do.

Because if she's a straight woman, and she wants to screw around with men, then she has to take their opinion of her into consideration, and when she's finished screwing around, she'll have damaged their opinions of her. No she doesn't, that's her choice to take that into consideration or not. She can say fuck it to all those men and their conventional views. I don't necessarily like fuck around girls... Ahhh, but he can still get women, he just can't get a good woman to give him a serious relationship. The animal magnetism is still in full effect and he's not lost his moves. People can have serious relationships without the tiniest bit of sexual attraction if the moneys good!
/r/MensRights04/06/12 10:43 PM
3

Well, personally I don't mind. I'd rather a woman be experienced than coy and many of my girlfriends have been bisexual and been well in there with other girls. The thread is blaming men for their actions. If a woman wants to screw around, then she can do so - fuck the opinions of men, why let a little thing like that hold her back? I'm saying it's a false argument.
/r/MensRights04/06/12 10:40 PM
6

well firstly, it sounds like you're asking this question out of anything but curiosity. I think that in many situations with the guys I know who "fuck around" they often miss out on the finer points of "making love"... From my own standpoint the best sex I've ever had has always been with long term lovers who I've cherished and have adored me back... I can therefore understand these studies and think that in some cases there is perhaps a degree of truth to them. The trouble is with human behavio…

I disagree. I think women know there's two kinds of men. Those they'll sleep with for fun and those they want in r/ships. In my experience those with a highly sexual reputation are known and sought out by women looking for a no strings experience.
/r/MensRights04/06/12 10:29 PM

Aren't there men out there who equally feel that sex has to be a magical gift that they're bestowing on a woman and the pressure to be the all conquering, yet sensitive, yet brilliant, yet caring lover does the same thing to them at similar subconscious levels?

I disagree that women would rather go without than ask for it. Some women have clever ways of asking for it. One guy I knows says the ultimate female come on is "there is no way I'm sleeping with you tonight" and once he's been told that he knows he is getting pu$$y. Are women just more discrete about it for fear of being called a slut? There's the old rule that says ask a man how many women he's slept with and divide by three and you'll get the truth. With a woman you have to multiply by three …

I think there is a point here. A lot of the time in men's rights when someone posts something that's about the movement and how it can change it does seem to disappear. There does seem to be a focus in the group as to arguing over feminist rants and games of "ain't it so awful" over male discrimination in highly documented cases in the media. IMO (and that of many others) the main slut accusers are women. Most 'good ole boys' love a woman who can put it about and is easy to get in the sack and are more likely to refer to her as a good sort or one of the guys.... However, the theory is that women like to control men through sex. Thus in order to keep men sex hungry they make it a scare commodity. Women who freely distribute sex are therefore devaluing the product of the sisterhood, who duly shame her as a slut to keep the price of the…

I don't have to. It can just be derogatory about people. Advertisers for instance. Comedians take swipes at different sectors of society all the time... Isn't this what she is trying to do in a post modern, ironic manner, but getting it terribly wrong?
/r/MensRights28/05/12 12:10 PM

No more than people like Jerry Sadowitz, William Burroughs or to an extent, Bill Hicks. The difference is that men are usually good at doing this thing with a whole sense of humour, which makes it all so fine. Most women aren't funny and the ones who are emulate men. Perhaps this is just a feminist comedian who is trapped by her gender.

Yes, but you failed to taste the irony - and that's that the converse isn't welcomed by the feminist movement. For instance, when men get paid more than women, the argument that more men work full time jobs isn't acceptable. We're caught in a game of cause and effect here... The point is however, that female quotas shouldn't be important to employers - selecting the best people irregardless of gender should be the point.

We are all social conditioned to some degree or another. We are born with our brains still unformed so we can actually adapt our physical brain chemistry to the environment we live it. It's a difficult process, but one I would seriously suggest embarking on if you wake up in the morning and see an asshole in the mirror.

"It's just how it works" sounds to me to be a resignation to the societal norms of the moment. There are plenty of guys who wait around to be asked out by women and they remain without good sex and company for many years. There will always be outliers in the data, but what we're dealing with is the general mechanism. Women on the whole in today's age are both the arbiters of good sexual taste (coming from the sadly enforced stereotype that a woman who is attractive and well kept usually has some…

The reason women can dress like men is because women's gender roles are, and always have been, more flexible than men's. Me can't dress like women not because it is seen as disgraceful to be a woman, shit that is the furthest thing from the truth, it is because men are placed in very rigid gender roles and to stray from that places you at odds with society. But i…

If you don't want to pay for dinner? Wow, in my experience women who you're honest with about going Dutch and splitting the bill like the refreshing change more. Remember, if someone offered to buy you dinner, you'd say yes. After all, refusal often offends, but many, many women are with it and don't want to live in the past and are more than happy to pay. I've even had girlfriends when I was skint who've been happy to pay for me. Then down the line I bought them expensive gifts to make up for i…

It's a process I guess. A few years ago these sort of women wouldn't even be finding their way into the courts. At least now we're recognising the problem stretches both ways. You can't expect for thing to change overnight... It's going to take years.

This used to happen all the time when I'd go clubbing in Brighton about 15 years ago when I was at Uni in the UK. There was a very simple way to stop it. I'd just yell at them "get the fuck out of the men's toilet". It was pretty obvious they were in there for dick or to cause some kind of crazy commotion in order to get attention.

I just don't understand where and how they got the notion that this was a good idea. If this isn't enough a signifier of how fucked up the Western situation is with feminism I don't know what is. I guess my biggest part of the problem is the fact that these young women don't believe there is anything wrong in what they are doing.

She just wouldn't get it. To be fair, she was in education until she was thirty and had only just come out of it. I remember when I came out of Uni and just wanted to have a good time and how this affected my girlfriend at the time back then. To an extent I am bitter about it. If I look closer at the situation I should have chosen a girlfriend who better understood the pressures of the modern professional world as opposed to one who just wanted to party and let off steam. There is a Buddhist sch…

This was my big problem. My last gf expected me to put her first at every opportunity and yet failed to recognise my needs in any way shape or form. She didn't appreciate that I ran my own business and needed to be in good form on a Monday morning when she wanted to go out drinking on Sunday night after I'd cooked her a meal and paid for everything. Maybe I'm a sucker and maybe I should act more like a PUA and go around and keep a number of women on strings to get what I want but the older I get…

I'd bother. If someone doesn't say something she'll go unchallenged. I'd simply say something along the lines of "and I thought feminism was about equality"

Yes, it's often said that when men show emotion it is seen as weakness and thus we don't show emotion for fear of being thought unable to cope or handle a situation. The converse is true for women - when they show emotion it is considered a sign of honesty and strength. I think the answer to this is that if you really have a loving relationship then you can show emotion and your partner will react appropriately to your emotional display. Then again, I don't have a girlfriend. We split up last mo…

This article talks about it in terms of jobs: http://antimisandry.com/chit-chat-main/glass-floor-29459.html#axzz1uO9iUvtO However, I've always understood it to mean that there's a minimum emotional expectation of men. Men are not allowed to show emotion or complain about emotion within a situation. Our emotions are expected to take second place to those of the women around us. This is the 'glass floor' we're not allowed to break through by crying in public, or having a breakdown - hell man, no o…

I live in the UK. All my friends are intelligent guys but not necessarily conventional Alpha Males. Most come from tech backgrounds and have done really well financially in recent years. I don't have one friend who is happily married and all those that were are now divorced. I'm glad you exist, faithful, loving woman in the wild distance, it's just been a long time since I've seen one in her natural habitat.

I can't see why any man would want to marry. I have had some good relationships, but they've always ended, no matter how much love I gave. I'm just glad (but also a little sad) that I'll never have kids and now I'm nearer forty than thirty I just think it's never going to happen. I look around at the women I know and just think "no".

Id love to do it. I'm sure many men would. However, I can't help feeling that at some point my SO would have an office affair with a Cosmo stamped alpha male and I'd be left not holding the baby.

I saw a similar thing happen in the street to the guy who lived in the flat below me. Curtains twitched but no one (including me) did a thing. What to fucking do. Hello pleased to meet you. I love your videos. If I may be so bold I think you should call the psychological mechanism as described in your first v-leaks video "The Damsel in Distress Syndrome" - Shoot me down in flames if you thus desire, but I always feel these things do better with a catchy title.

This is the best point. It's like with all these good female bloggers out there (such as genderratic and girlwhowrites) who are awesome in their defence of male rights, but it just goes to show how far we as males have lost out because it's like you have to be female to even have a validated opinion on gender issues.

Actually that's what I thought until I read about the many people, including women who actually have quite loving relationships with their pets. After all, a dog that mounts a woman would have to want to do this and would have to achieve something out of it in order to become sexually stimulated enough to do it. Just goes to show, you can't judge. Let's not have an argument. I'm sick of the arguments on reddit. You seem cool so why don't we go all old school on it and have a discussion :)

Yes, but we should recognise just because we are one people this doesn't mean we're all the same. Men and women are different and should be allowed to have different support structures. It's exactly this one size fits all mentality that's so damaging. People are free to be Christian, Muslim, Gay, Straight, On Drugs, into Sleeping with Animals...Cool, it's when we start trying to say there's one basic model of humanity that the problems start. This is why many men feel under-represented, because …

Yes absolutely. If the power to abort a foetus is placed entirely in the hands of a woman, then the man should have the right to a 'legal abortion' so that if he doesn't want the child, he cannot be charged with the financial burden of bringing up said infant. It is only to equalise the rights of men and women as if a man doesn't want to abort a foetus and a woman does, the man seems to have no rights. However, the problem with this might be that men are more active in sleeping around without pr…

I quote William Burroughs when I say that in a Matriarchy that Homosexuality is the ultimate political crime. To deny a woman her sexual power over men is to deny her as a woman (almost) - Have you ever noticed how women talk about pole-dancing and stripping as "empowering" - so you feel empowered by making someone else want you, whilst you deny them the very gift you're flaunting in their face? For me it's like teasing famine victims with food.
