I see a lot of posts about women who make up rape allegations to save face or to simply be a bitch. In nearly all of these posts, they get away scott-free 99% of the time. I'm simply wondering, why does this happen?

No, really, why? Is there not a punishment for lying in court, on a police report, etc etc? Why are these people not receiving these punishments?

I don't find "cuz then real victims would be scared" to be an acceptable answer. I realize that is what's happening, but it makes no logical sense. Start punishing these criminals, and there will be less of them. Not to mention a real victim would hopefully feel secure in their honest dilemma.
