Apparently this subreddit is full of retards, because I can't see any other reason why you'd be downvoted.

Sorry, when did I ever mention cheating?

It's not about empathy, and like I explained in the previous post, it's not about the MRM either. Now kindly go back to your hugbox.

There's no law requiring the consent of a person to cheat on their spouse, which could "affect her and the rest of the family", is there? I don't even know what you're trying to say here. My point is simple: you have to take into account the effects of your choices on other people's lives (those that care about you, at least), and I believe this to be true regardless of what disparity there may be in the law regarding men's and women's respective rights.

Because it's not even an issue, ffs. Unless you want to make a big deal out of every rude thing people will do/say to you.

A lot of men have bought into the whole men-are-pigs rhetoric. It's an old story, feminism is only partially responsible for it.

As far as I'm concerned, same sex education seems to be a win-win for everyone. I doubt it'll make a comeback in public schooling anytime soon, but I support it anyway.

But from the moment of conception onwards, pregnancy only affects the woman's body, the man's involvement is minimal. For the record I think a man should have a say in whether his baby gets aborted.

...And then you came here for a hug and a pat on the head? Look, if you want my honest opinion, everyone involved was an idiot, yes, including you. She shouldn't have done that. At the very least she should have stopped at your first warning. However you shouldn't have grabbed her tits. You should have turned 180° and found a nicer girl to flirt with. Whoever threw you out of the bar should have handled the incident more discreetly. It's a pretty shitty situation but I don't think it qualifies a…

That's pretty much the same argument that feminists use to invalidate any statement made by a man regarding abortion. It is wrong when they use it, so I don't see a reason to bring it up here.

It's a spectrum, with members to whom the idea of sex is revolting, to members that do take part in activities like masturbation, to members that choose to have romantic relationships, with the actual physical occurrence of sex being the only thing missing. I knew that already, but I'm glad you explained it anyway. I was going to, but didn't want to come off as pedantic.

The original argument was that: in cases of rape resulting in pregnancy, a man is the rapist 100% of the time This is simply not true. A woman-on-man rape can result in pregnancy too. That's a biological fact. Feel free to argue against it all you want.

"If the Dowse receives public support, this is an outrage (obviously no taxpayer should be blocked from viewing an exhibit he has helped to pay for). If, however, it is a fully private museum, it strikes me as less objectionable," said Geoff. This quote pretty much sums up my view on the whole story. Nevertheless, the guy has my respect for speaking out against what he perceived as an unacceptable form of discrimination against men.

Why so defensive? Let's face it, bans are often not justified. The karma system is blatantly abused. The administration doesn't care. It's fine to use throwaways. No need to justify yourself. As for asexuality, I think it's just great. Sex is ridiculously overrated in our society. I've lost a few friends because of their obsession with it, and I don't miss them. Not to mention, if most men were free from all the manipulation that comes from being in a constant state of arousal, feminism would ta…

I'm not much of a club person myself, but I've used public transportation a lot, especially when I lived in Rome for a couple of years and I had to rely on it every day. I don't remember groping or being groped by someone on the bus or metro. The worst that could happen was that someone would accidentally bump into me, which is very different from groping. So different that I don't see how one could be mistaken for the other.

There are situations that need immediate solutions lest people be resigned to extreme poverty (I mean such a lack of resources that it significantly shortens your life span). Basically your whole argument boils down to saying "the end justifies the means"... which is bullshit. If you get to arbitrarily decide that sexism is okay in one situation, everyone else gets to have the same right too, and while you're at it, why stop at sexism? Any form of discrimination can be justified with that kind o…

Interesting. So for you "the system" is the opponent. Whatever you want to call it. What do you call it? And please, answer my question, I think it's kinda important. There are obstacles to achievement. But institutionalised sexism shouldn't be one of them! I guess my fear is anything we spend energy on reinforces itself into a legitimate force to be dealt with. The violence, hate, and neglect that women lavish on their children and their families is a product of feminist indoctrination. Are you implying that women are naturally good otherwise and wouldn't do those things if not for feminism?

Citations can be made up, or stories can be made up to match a citation. It's really hard to be sure that what you're reading actually happened, the way you're being told it happened, and that it happened to the person telling the story. That said, I've seen both tendencies on display at both sites. It's not often that you can post some fake news on 4chan without someone pointing out your lack of sources.
/r/MensRights09/08/12 08:53 PM
-9

I think his point was that both are unreliable... Then why did he single anonymous out? There is literally nothing that proves the story in the image is true. It could have been written by anyone. OP could have even written it minutes before posting it here. Indeed. That's true of the majority of the stories posted on the web though, and it's not like the "official" news channels are above twisting the facts or embellishing or even fabricating a story altogether to fit a particular agenda.

The question I am asking is: Is complaining about the discrimination of men the proper action to take? Well, here you are complaining about men complaining because they're being discriminated against. What did you do then? What actions did you take to fight back against the system? If you know a quicker way to get us all out of this mess, please share it. I don't think we sacrificed our dignity or out well-being when we built this culture and I don't think that continuing to excel in science and…

And here on reddit it's different, how? Instead of hiding behind "anonymous", we hide behind nicknames. That's also how it works in most communities, by the way.
/r/MensRights09/08/12 07:49 PM
1

Exactly. However, even if all men stopped serving women overnight, feminist women would still hold quite a lot of power, and the subsequent abuse would still need to be dealt with in some way. I might be misinterpreting him, but it seems to me he's trying to justify a passive stance in regards to the problems men have to face as a result of being discriminated against.

You said: It's a story without any citation, made by an anonymous poster on 4chan. Implying that his being anonymous is somehow relevant to the veridicity of the story. there are no profiles or accounts on 4chan Unless your account can be matched against your real identity, this is also irrelevant.

Why don't we turn around, ignore them, and keep doing our work? Because it can't be ignored anymore. Maybe it's because of that, or because I expressed anything other than pure unadulterated rage at the fact that a female teacher got 90 days for what would have gotten a male a harsher sentence. Or maybe my comment simply didn't receive much attention at all, and some guy who doesn't like me felt like downvoting it. We're still on reddit, after all. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Equality simply means we should not be denied the same opportunities because of our sex. It doesn't mean we should just pretend we're all the same, when we obviously are not. When Alex was 4, he pronounced himself “a boy and a girl,” but in the two years since, he has been fairly clear that he is simply a boy who sometimes likes to dress and play in conventionally feminine ways. It seems they're trying to make a big deal out of a curious child. Well, don't take this the wrong way but, I think fighting mods on some web community is a huge waste of time. Time that could be spent on more worthy causes, like men's rights activism. I'm reading the subreddit you linked to. Even if your theory were right, would it really be a big cause for concern? The mods don't seem much active here, and don't interfere too much in the flow of the discussion. If things got worse, the community would always simply find a new home for itself anyway...

I was looking for answers. I wondered why some threads get deleted and others do not, in spite of the fact that they're all quite obviously unrelated to the MRM. The answer I got was that those that were removed involved the discussing of mod decisions in other subreddits and some kind of feud between the mods and this JeremiahGuy. Honestly, it's not my problem. I get tired of these arguments pretty damn quickly.

In this case, the users actions were judged and the Jeremiah accusation was only taken into account after judging the actions. And what did he do that was deserving of a ban? It's not sympathy, it's common sense. If the punishment for sexual harassment were just a small fine or something adequate like that, I'd be more willing to press charges... but to have someone's name listed on a national register as a sexual offender, branding them for life, ruining their social life and their opportunities to get a job, and stripping them of their dignity, for something as relatively harmless as a little groping? Sorry, no, I won't do that. I think it's insane.

Feminism does not mean man-hating Oh boy here we go again... As a feminist, I personally believe in equality amongst genders Just so you know, that reads like "As a KKK member, I personally believe in equality amongst races." It's not like drunk women are legally excused for their reckless sexual behaviour... it's not like a drunk woman forcing herself on you could get you charged with rape... yeah, you should definitely accuse the next woman that bumps agains…

But society is made up of individuals, and by virtue of what authority do we tell an individual (male or female) how they should use their body? Besides, how would you even begin to correct this society-wide vice? How many stupid husbands should a tv network be allowed to air before it is one too many? Would you establish state-mandated "gray quotas" in the porn industry, setting the requirement that half of all male actors need to be boring-looking average joes with average dicks and average st…

Unless I'm missing something, the MRM fights against the oppression of men, right? Well, the men that do porn are doing so out of their own accord, and the men that watch porn choose to do so themselves. I don't see how this can be framed as a men's rights issue. It reminds me of feminists looking at some half-naked female top-model on the cover of some magazine and whining about the objectification of women by the patriarchy.

Being banned from a subreddit is not a topic of Men's Rights. Indeed, but we see many such threads here, and they're usually left alone by the mods. We don't even censor feminists. So it strikes me as odd that these 2 thread would get the spam treatment. This one was removed because there is an accusation that the OP is JeremiahGuy, who is a banned account. That's not what I meant and you know it. Men can have their own female-free spaces, of course, but the MRM is not it. It's a movement that fights against misandry and the discrimination against men, and there's simply not reason why women should be kept out, or treated like men are treated in feminist circles. I'm not sure where you got the idea that being a "real man" entails a "bitches and whores" mentality (which is unfortunately not all that uncommon on certain self-proclaimed MRM sites), or…

I can respect that position, but frankly, I don't mind the occasional woman being a "star" of the MRM alongside men. I don't see a problem with it. I don't think the MRM segregates genders, it's not like we're declaring war on women or trying to take their rights away or anything like that. In principle, I'd prefer the term "egalitarian" over "men's rights activist", but in practice, it's not women that are being treated as second class citizens in our society, so I don't think it would be fair to take the name as evidence that we only care about our rights and not women's.

Because there's no such "middle". There's discrimination, and there's equality. Feminism is openly supporting discrimination against men, and the MRM is taking the opposite direction. Like everyone's telling you, we're not fighting for the same thing. Let's have an example, to make this, hopefully, more clear. Feminists see women being a minority in parliament, and assume this must be because the evil men are keeping them out, so they propose laws that make it mandatory to get a certain quota of…

While I agree with your general sentiment... it really can't be helped. For many people, participation in the mrm is something that comes relatively late in life, and it's only normal that they try and integrate mrm ideas in their pre-existing political belief systems. I think the tendency to make the fallacious equation anti-feminist == mrm is an unfortunate by-product of the fact that few people outside the mrm have gone through as much trouble as us to expose the flaws of feminism.

Being a whore is normal, but we don't call them whores, we prefer "sexually liberated women". Besides, all you see in TV is emphasis on the man's pleasure during sex. Oh, really? Then why isn't "Sex & the City" about 4 men having exciting sexual escapades and chatting about it? Yeah, abortion is so accepted. That's why they keep trying to make it illegal, right? Being socially a…

I wasn't aware that was the question here. Were those students threatened or otherwise intimidated into not doing their play? Was there media outrage over their choice to use a piece of hateful feminist propaganda as their source? Were they hit with hate speech charges? I don't think its very existence is a threat or an insult to anyone. A threat, yeah probably not. On a personal level, I find it quite insulting.

Are you... are you seriously defending a play based on the SCUM manifesto? Here, on the men's rights subreddit of all places? But the thing is in cinema we see men killing, and cheerfully going back to whatever they were doing and that's cool. Men killing women because they're women? Men who think killing women is funny, men who took inspiration from a very real manifesto that advocated the very real killing of women based on the belief that they're genetically deficient "incomplete males" that …

You said it is possible to control one's sex drive and be unconcerned about the survival of one's genes. I am providing examples of what has happened when people have tried to suppress that concern for the survival of their genes. Ah okay, but some catholics being unable to control themselves doesn't really prove anything. People working jobs become unmotivated when they feel that they're unappreciated. Or when they haven't had a raise in a long time. Adequate compensation (financial, social app…

Hah! How common are sex scandals in the history of the Catholic Church? I don't know, but how's that relevant to what I was saying anyway? There also has to be a reason to control it. Why would you control it when you can fulfill it? Are you asking the Pope or me? There could be many different reasons why you would want to do that, ranging from "taming the beast within" to "I hate children, they smell". Does conscious thought eliminate the drive? Many ascetics and religions have tried. It never ends up well. Not necessarily eliminate it altogether, but control it, yes it's possible. Do you think the caveman's personal survival was under immediate threat when he created that art? Lol, I hope not. But it's certainly time he could have spent doing things that would have made his survival more likely instead. That is the point. Survival of your genes, not of you as an individual. There is undoubtedly a drive that is strong enough for most people to seek opportunities to reproduce. You can call it the sex drive, or perhaps the drive to form a family (we are social animals, after all). My genes don't do the thinking for me, their survival is not my concern. When you have enough resources to keep yourself fed and housed, only then can you turn your attentions to other concerns. That's contradicted by the earliest forms of…

So... men are effectively slaves (to the women and the elite men in power), but they're still somehow on the "master" side of the power balance. Makes perfect sense, right? Hmm. It's the same old "female privilege actually discriminates women because it assumes they're inferior" bullshit.

At the root of the motivation are basic survival needs. Food, shelter, reproduction. Well, first, from the point of view of the individual, reproduction is not a basic survival need (and even species-wide, it probably hasn't been in quite some time). Besides, what could "food and shelter" even have to do with the Cappella Sistina or the String Theory? It's awfully naive to try and explain all our great accomplishments as the results of our drive to survive. There's so much more to it than that, …

Why do we need to treat men like idiots to make a point? You don't want to risk a pregnancy, don't have sex with women you can't trust, or just don't have sex altogether (contrary to popular belief, you can survive without). He makes it sound as if pregnancies just happen out of nowhere and it's some kind of big shock. It's true that women have a lot more options than men at the moment, but it's not like men have none.

My point is that suicide is an universal problem that can't be easily framed as a "men's rights issue", and so far I haven't seen any evidence that misandry plays a significant part in the much higher rate of suicides among males.

Sorry, I find it difficult to think of suicide as a men's rights issue, unless you want to start painting every bad thing that happens to men as a men's rights issue... which would be unfortunate, if nothing else, because it's one of feminism's favourite tactics. Now, if a link could be established between the prevalence of suicides among the male portion of the population and the presence of anti-male bias in pretty much all levels of society, it'd make more sense.

The fact that the feminist-infested media grossly misrepresent the issue of domestic violence doesn't mean that there aren't women that actually have to deal with this kind of abuse. Taken by itself, there's nothing misandric about this comic.

To me, it sounds like you're idealizing feminism. After all, prominent first-wave feminists are known to have fantasized about such things as female-only societies. But I think you do have a point, in that we spend too much time pointing out every little example of misandry (real or perceived) in the world, and very little tackling the serious problems (I can ignore some stupid feminist talk-show guest just fine, it's a little bit harder to ignore the state-funded affirmative action that puts me…

That's what the caption says, probably because the author wanted to mantain consistency between the two halves (and for emphasis). The picture shows him carrying a heavier box. If the message was that he was getting paid more by virtue of being a man, they would be carrying equal weights. Case closed.

And what are you going to do about it?
/r/MensRights11/07/12 12:09 AM

But that's not what it says. The man in the picture gets paid more because he carries a heavier box, not because he's a man. I also very much doubt that the difference in weight carried is supposed to represent a realistic gap in strength between men and women. Stop seeing sexism where's there's none (it's annoying and it's also bad for your health).

Regardless of what you think about the specific case, this is the wrong attitude. You want women to have it as bad as men. We should work for the opposite to come true, that men are not treated as monsters for the "crime" of being normal human beings with normal sex drives.

I'm not going to defend Sweden when it comes to matters of so-called "equality politics", but let's try and put this in perspective for a moment. First, it's the left party that's proposing the ban and if wikipedia doesn't lie, it's a rather small force. Second, the article states that "For men who might refuse to comply, party representatives suggested a separate set of toilets clearly labeled for stand-up urination only." Third, how the hell are they going to enforce it anyway?

Women won't start attacking men in the streets, because that's not their preferred kind of violence (also because they know they'd get their asses kicked). They prefer psycological violence, because they can get away with it, or violence by proxy. In other words they like to fight dirty. Feminists care so much about abused men that they ostracized and even threatened their very own Erin Pizzey (mother of women's shelters) after she started speaking out against the marginalization of abused men and outright denial of the reality of reciprocal interspousal violence. Feminists care so much about male rape survivors that in many states rape is basically defined as something that a man does to a woman. Let's stop kidding ourselves, please.
