It's important to maintain perspective; we can manage mental illness but we cannot control it. I work in behavioral health and frequently encounter patients who feel so defeated because they're experiencing symptoms of their mental illness (not referring to those who do things to exacerbate their conditions). You're far from alone in wanting to believe you could control it. Considering you were diagnosed over two years ago and this is the first depressive episode I don't blame you for thinking i…

Have you looked into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)? It's a pragmatic, structured, problem/present focused, goal oriented approach. It's also meant to be short term with the intent of essentially teaching patients to be their own therapists. Self Directed CBT is also an option. SMART Goals (paired with CBT or independently) might also be helpful.

I'm not sure what youre looking for specifically but I've heard good things about the book Expecting Better.

I've lived in Southern California all my life, it's definitely a liberal leaning place but it's not what a lot of people think. Most girls do identify as feminists and most people are fairly progressive in their views. If I refused to associate with anyone who wasn't exactly like me, though, I'd be pretty lonely. So I keep an open mind and Jude people on how they treat me, not their opinions on birth control or personal relationship dynamics or all gender restrooms . My friends have a wide spect…

These are some things I do that came to mind. (I'm on three different cold meds; my apologies in advance if I ramble or make no sense.) I like to massage my husband's jaw, neck, and shoulders because he tends to carry tension in those areas. I usually finish up by scratching his scalp and running my nails over his neck and shoulders to help ease out residual tension (he loves how it gives him chills). Of course, general backrubs/scratches are amazing too but I think being attentive to specific p…

It seems so unnatural (to me) to have sex with an objective in mind. I love being in my husband's energy, it's like I'm all caught up in him, the connection, the entire experience. It's so much more than having an orgasm. I feel this way regardless of what kind of sex we're having too. Interestingly enough, I have way more orgasms (including PIV orgasms) with my husband compared to my two previous partners who were really adamant about making me come.

This is not about red pill tools or submission - it's about basic care and compassion for your spouse. You vowed to care for him for your whole life. I agree. What do you care more about, the dual diagnosis psych ward or your husband's peace of mind? His peace of mind, for sure.

I think that's part of it. Embarrassing to admit but probably a factor in my attitude about it.

From a different post (reply) by the OP about most inappropriate thing she'd be asked as a woman: "I had a patient ask me to give him oral sex my second day working as a nurse. He offered me money too." For clarity, this took place days into my first nursing job. I was 22 years old, newly graduated, and went directly into a Nurse Residency program at one of the hospitals affiliated with my school (where this incident took place). I was honored and privileged to have the opportunity. Also, I was …

I definitely understand his perspective and trust his intentions are pure. I have no doubt he loves me and cares about my well-being. His concerns are valid, I don't mean to dismiss them. He has plenty of experience with violent criminals, rapists, and murderers. He's been on the Fugitive Task Force for over a year- in addition to apprehending people with outstanding warrants they pursue anyone fleeing the scene of a rape or homicide. When he was on a gang unit he a lot of DV, child abuse, and S…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
