If it's in an agreement, the amount is negotiable. If you have an attorney, they can help you with what an appropriate amount would be. There are 14 factors that go into calculating alimony in Aouth Carolina, so there is no simple answer.

In South Carolina, alimony is either modifiable or non-modifiable. If the terms of the agreement are that it is $2500 per month for five years, that would be considered lump sum alimony and would not be modifiable unless terms for modification are expressly laid out in the agreement.

I was married 19 years with two kids. I deleted all the pictures of her and of just her and me. She had multiple affairs and the pictures of us together just seemed like lies. It's been a couple of years now and I don't regret deleting them. I didn't delete the pics of my ex with the kids. In my opinion, those belong to my kids as much as they do me. She's made a huge mistake and I think it will having lasting effects. I can't con…

Everything started with mine last October. Everyone has their own timeline, but I didn’t start to fully process everything until about June, and it was about a year into when I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It was not my choice, and I think my ex has made some terrible decisions regarding the children, but I’ve learned to let go of those things I have no control over.

You are correct. It can literally be a waiting game in SC. The state supreme court made things very difficult with the ruling that you can't file for separate support and maintenance while cohabiting. The only other option is to file on one of the fault grounds, if one them exists. The fault grounds in SC are adultery, physical cruelty, habitual drunkenness, and abandonment (not really used anymore since no fault divorce was created). You don't need to be living separate and apart to file for a …
