In my own experience I find that to not be so true these days. The person who takes the most time off seems to usually be the one who earns less. I've done meditation, it works for relaxing my over active mind, but not increasing focus. i think i get what he is saying a little, I'm often in a similar situation. when you are around people of your own culture yet don't seem to act like it, people find you strange without explicitly saying it, but you can definitely sense it. but ya i don't know his to help him either.
