Wow, this was very eye opening for me. My biggest problem is I have this mindset where I don't want the girl to know I have feelings for her. It started way back when I was 9/10 and had my first crush. I told her how I felt and it freaked her out. Every time she saw me after that she would yell "Oh no" and run away from me. This continued for 2 years until she left our school. Since then I've always been afraid of the girl knowing how I feel. Of course it's the most counterproductive mindset you…

"That’s falling in love with the idea of a person, not the actual person." I believe this is the root of most relationship problems. And he makes a great point about "He thinks she’ll give his life meaning because he doesn’t care about much else going on in his life." That's why you have to work on making your life more meaningful, make it awesome and then people will naturally want to be part of that life of yours. JGL just earned my respect.

You own the braces, don't let the braces own you. Make jokes about them. Compare yourself to Jaws from James Bond. Say it's there to restrain you from biting too hard. See it as an opportunity, not an obstacle.

"Me and this girl have been friends for a few years" - once you've been friends with someone for that long it's hard for anything to develop. "I have been talking to her and trying to aid in getting her mind off of it, relating my experience in past relationships to help her." - sounds like an average night from my AFC days Sounds harsh but I don't think you blew it, rather you never had a chance in the first place. Did you do the right thing by not going that far? Depends on if you want to keep…

Completely agreed. Also I think the actual step of deciding to travel in itself is huge and takes a lot of confidence to go ahead with it. Earlier this year I spent a month and a half in Europe, one month of which I was in Germany learning German, and I knew zero German beforehand. Sure there were great stories to tell from the trip but the reactions after I got back home have mainly been "That is so brave of you, I could never go to a foreign country where I do not speak their language by mysel…

This for this. Unfortunately I live in a country where it's hot and humid pretty much all year round, so that rules out any jackets or coats and pretty much restricts me to short sleeved shirts, but the stuff on shoes and belt were very helpful.

Growing up with a mentally disabled siblings, my parents (and aunts, uncles, family friends for that matter) always paid my sister attention and ignored me. She'll get praised for being able to do the smallest things like bringing them water. Thus I grew up feeling like I don't deserve anyone's attention and am happy with what little attention anyone can give me, hence the low self-esteem.

I used to be in a similar situation to you, although it was worse in that I was not over her and I felt the thought of her held me back from meeting other girls. I tried putting some distance between us but, like you, she got really upset. However, over time I began to realise she pretty much was using me, wanting to keep me in her circle because 1) I would do anything to her, 2) as a substitute, someone to complain to about her guy problems and all I got in return was a faint hope that one day …

Confidence comes from security. It is, as you said, "feel[ing] great, look[ing] great" and therefore having the belief you can do anything, but when you fail, you still have that feeling that you are awesome nevertheless and you pick yourself up and move on. Arrogance is a result of insecurity. More specifically it is a method of overcompensating your fears and insecurities. Instead of addressing those insecurities by working hard to improve yourself so that you will "feel great, look great", ar…

Wow... amazingly true. Before I definitely would identify with Duckie and be cheering him on, but now I realise just how manipulative and annoying he is.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
