How did you find out about him not being on the birth certificate and how did your mom tell you? How did/do you feel about him not being on the birth certificate? I’m only asking because my daughter’s father did the same and I also did not put him on the birth certificate to preserve sole custody of my daughter. I know that conversation is a long ways away but I still worry my daughter will resent me even though I know it was the best choice for our situation.

I would like to say I jokingly call my daughter “the child” sometimes. This is in reference to the show The Mandalorian— baby Yoda is called “The Child.” I love my daughter with all my heart and am a solo parent. As a single mom, it sucks having a kid with a LVM. However, I definitely don’t regret my baby. Her dad cheated on me while pregnant and I let him go. He now tries to torment me. Yeah my ex was the same way. Then I found he was soliciting men for sex. I’m lucky to have found out while pregnant, many women throw themselves at a “HVM” for 20+ years only to eventually find the skeletons in the closet. Happens way more often then it should. You just never know, truly.

Thanks sis! My mom stayed with my cheating dad for way too long. I didn’t want that for my daughter even though I made the mistake of repeating history and having a child with a NVM. She is my world and I hope one day to teach her FDS principles so she doesn’t go through dating hell like I did.

Thanks sis! It was the hardest decision I had to make, but I rest easy knowing my daughter is surrounded by strong women. Although it’s tough being a single mom I rather be one than live a lie. I hope my daughter understands one day that I made the decision so her and I can live a better life.

My ex is actually here right now visiting my baby. I’m in the other room. NVM has blamed “being tired, depressed, and/or anxious” as reasons for not seeing our daughter, who is 4 months old, for the last 3 months. My ex had me all over his social media and always spoke of me. In the end I found him cheating on me while 8 months pregnant with random men on Craigslist and similar sites. So while I do think it’s weird if a guy doesn’t share his partner on social media, some guys simply don’t take social media seriously and barely post anything period. On the other hand, men who post pictures and declare love for their partners can be sleazy jerks. So yeah. It means absolutely nothing in my book.

I had to get tested at 8 months pregnant because of my cheating ex. Unfortunately sometimes we find out too late. I also got tested at her birth, as well as just last week, which I think is the last STD test I had to take. It’s awful and humiliating. I don’t think I could ever forgive my ex... I am so grateful my beautiful daughter came out safe and sound. I don’t know what I would have done.

I agree with you all. Just goes to show I have some ways to go, but I’m proud I was able to cut him off at all. As someone who is known to wear my heart on my sleeve, it’s hard, even if I know not saying a word and going no contact is the best route to take almost every time.

I am so glad I had the strength to not include my daughter’s father on the birth certificate for this very reason and gave her my last name. These scrotes know no bounds. Many times I grieve the loss of the dream of raising my daughter in a household with her two parents; this just confirms what an absolute nightmare it would be having that loser in our lives. I’m glad I found out when I did and have been raising my daughter in peace and on my own. I feel for you, truly.
