I have a small circle of coolbean male friends that I game with regularly. They were very helpful when I had broken up with the ex-shituationship LVM at the time. None of them have ever taken our friendship as a green flag to get at me, no dick pics or drama ever. They were horrified to hear of how the past dude treated me when I was a pickme and they opened my eyes like why would I put up with that treatment? They don't yell at me or call me names like he would. It's my safe space I can indulge in my gaming and have company I can talk to no judgements they just let me be. I been friends with some of them for over a decade now we celebrated a friendserversary lol.

Oh boy. I think the most blatant story about this I have is this one:

Friends since uni (around 3 years ish of friendship), confessed his love for me early on and I was always VERY clear I was not into him like that. Cool. Cue 3 years of fake friendship where we actually shared a lot, I thought we were truly friends. Then finally one night, after a very scary episode, I gave in and we slept together. Who's heard from him again? Not me. 3 fucking years

I've had different male friends in between every relationship because they would suddenly get pissed that I got a boyfriend and delete me, then try "befriending" me once I was single again. It's not friendship to them but free attention and emotional labor.
