Time to start saying you identify as a woman on your applications.

I would warn you against using it as your yearbook quote. Your quote should be something about you, and making it about someone else seems unnecessarily petty, to the point where you might look back on it with regret decades later. But I'm just a stranger on the internet bro so you do you.

Not be a hater but 245lbs at 6'3 is actually in the obese range. OP may carry it well but if you want to check for yourself you can.

I think that metric is probably offset by the percentage of women working in "Natural Resources", I would like to see more information on an actual breakdown of laborers, personally.

The chart adds up to roughly 100%, that means it is an estimation of the percent of women, not the percent of workforce.

I'm not familiar with any golf courses that don't allow women to play. But I have heard of some pretty high profile clubs that were forced to allow women to enter.

I'm a pretty big fan of the President, but i disagree with you. His father's day speeches have seemed pretty disappointing to me over the years. For every man who gets roped into parenthood against his will, there are many and more who are willingly fathers, and he has never just voiced unabashed appreciation for them. That's what this holiday is about. It isn't about mothers. It isn't about men who choose not to raise their children. It's about appreciation for fathers. Would you feel different…

It's David Wong, he's the executive editor and wrote such charming articles as "5 ways men are trained to hate women" and other such nonsense.

It isn't just ads, sites keep strict track of traffic. If shit like this gets more pageviews because it was linked here so we can go rage at it, then they will encourage more material of this nature. On top of that, I believe cracked has a special bonus pay for authors whose articles hit a certain amount of views.

Elliot Rodgers never once called himself an MRA. Okay, but there's an undercurrent of misogyny and gendered hatred ... I have experienced from MRAs. The burden of proof is on you for this one. Andrea Dworkin doesn't say "femininity and masculinity needs to die so we can be free," she explicitly states in no uncertain terms that "manhood" is keeping "us" from freedom. She also believed that every man was a rapist waiting for ample opportunity, and is considered in academia to be the herald of mod…
/r/MensRights03/06/14 06:08 AM

I guess the difference, in my opinion, is that Elliot Rodgers never called himself an MRA. Not once in his rambling 150 page manifesto of race hatred and stupidity did he mention men's rights. He mentioned trying to do pick up artist stuff in some of his videos, but that has nothing to do with men's rights. On the other hand, the feminists with money and power are the feminists that you say "are not acting in the spirit of feminism." If i ever saw Warren Farrell go on public stage and says that …

No matter how frustrating it may seem at times, please remember that there's always the chance that you have given them at least something to think about after the conversation is over. Be respectful, be honest, and be willing to answer any questions they may have. You're doing a really good job.

Thank you, /u/Toava, please don't think of this as a thankless duty. I think too many people in /r/mr have given up on the possibility of getting our point across to people who disagree with us. If no one ever tells people that they are wrong, they will unabashedly continue doing whatever they were doing without being corrected.

Your rebuttal didn't hold up to scrutiny, nor even the reality of the situation at hand. As far as the ad hominems, yeah, sure friend, that'll definitely help. This is what you sound like.

I don't think any more people disagree with me than you. This is a serious discussion that I think /r/mr should consider having. Also, for future consideration, i don't think just giving up because people disagree with you is a very good attitude to have, especially when no one can refute your points or offer a worthwhile rebuttal aside from calling you annoying.

Yeah, now imagine if the Reskins owner was calling his charity a "Redskin Charity" ironically or sarcastically. It would still have been viewed the same by anyone not "in" on the joke. We are not the Colbert Report, we are a serious movement struggling to be taken seriously by the mainstream media. Sarcastically using stupid terminology isn't doing us any favors.

I agree that sarcasm and satire are perfectly acceptable forms of expression, but the larger issue here is the image we are giving off. When posts that use the term "femsplain" sarcastically are posted to other areas outside this reddit, they aren't viewed with sarcasm in mind. They are taken seriously.

I think you're right. It's unfortunate that this is the case, but it does seem to be the case. This is just my opinion, but i think that if we focused on finding male-friendly solutions to issues that plague our gender, we would have less of an issue with other people accepting our legitimacy. A lot of people who call themselves feminists nowadays do so because feminism has accomplished SO MUCH in the past. These are the majority, i think. (At least in meat space, online tumblr feminism is rampant.) We stand to win these people over if we focus on issues as Men's Rights Activists instead …

So much this. If someone wants to have a personalized cake topper, who are we to stop them for deciding for themselves? I really wish we would stay on track with legal issues where we have an explicit goal instead of wandering into male SJW territory and complaining about every little thing.

I'm probably mistaken, but i think this quote is partially pulled from a book written by Esthar Vilar in the late 1970s. The book is entitled "The Manipulated Man." The entire book is a scathing satire of the women's rights movement at that time transforming into the tumblr feminism we are dealing with today.

I am uncircumcised as well, and while I never felt the intense paranoia that OP felt, almost the same exact thing happened to me. Shortly after graduating high school, the girl I had been seeing (who also have aggressive and amazing oral sex) was having a conversation with her friends about how would penises looked when they had that "hood" when I told her she'd been starting my dick in the face for weeks and never noticed my foreskin even once. I don't think enough people readily accept this as fact. Men have just as much marketing thrown at us as women, telling us that we need to be sub 10% body fat with at least lean muscle mass, and we quietly buy into it. I think a lot of people have made their thoughts clear on this issue (that I'm basically a crybaby,) but this is exactly the same as a female game character with a small waist and perky breasts.

I think Kratos, Ken, and Brick ARE unrealistic representations of men. I don't think they are impossible, nor even impossible without steroids, but with 1/3 of the US approaching obesity, I don't think it's unfair to say that these are as un-representative of men as any female character with a small waist and large breasts.

I respect your opinion on the matter, and thank you kindly for sharing, but I very strongly disagree. I think that even raising the (any) issue with a feminist will at least get them to consider that issue when they otherwise would not have. Even if they dismiss it out of hand as "the patriarchy backfiring on men", you've planted the seeds of an idea in their mind. Please don't say things like "there's no point in..." If you keep trying, no matter how bleak it seems, your message will be propagated on its own merits. Just a few months ago I had no idea there was any such thing as a mensrights movement, and my life has changed for the better because of it. I think you've really hit the nail on the head. The crux of the matter is that video games are a visual form of entertainment. Men in books are desirable emotionally, men in games are desirable physically, by design. I don't want to play as an anti social with no facial aesthetics, no muscular frame, and no financial prospects because that's what i do all day when i'm not playing video games.

Aside from being a white knight, he is still a great guy. Although he isn't quite as eager to throw himself on the line to assist men, my friend is incredibly polite and sincere, and in those respects I look up to him quite a bit. I respectfully disagree. One of the nicest, most sincere men I know is a white knight, and it doesn't at all stem from him being an asshole. (He isn't an asshole.) Instead, he does what he does because he thinks women are incapable of defending themselves. While I'm sure you are right that many white knights are just trying to disguise their asshole-tendencies in a more acceptable manner, I think many are just raised in a manner that gives them a knee-jerk reaction to protect women, instead of j…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgk-lA12FBk Jokes aside, I don't think people who treat women preferentially (on the internet, at least,) are misandrists. I think it stems from the idea that women are weaker and in need of protection, not that they hate men.

I agree with you whole-heartedly and enthusiastically. I primarily focus on men's rights because I am a man. But just because I call myself a humanitarian or humanist doesn't mean I can't focus on men's rights issues. I do what I can, when I can, but every person prioritizes differently.
/r/MensRights29/01/13 12:22 AM

Thank you for that insight. I'm sorry if this is a repost of sorts then, I admittedly don't every check out /r/feminism. I am met with enough disdain for my beliefs face to face. What is your opinion, might I ask? It seems to me that you think just because there are more human rights issues issues we'd be completely ignored, but isn't that already nearly the case? I believe that if we raised men's rights issues as human rights issues, we might be able to make more progress, faster.

I really don't know why it is that way, I just know that it is. I was always told by my NCOs that it was in the AR 670-1, but I just checked briefly and couldn't find it there. It actually states in the FM 21-10 Field Sanitation Page 3-27 that every soldier should bathe once a week, but it also gives instructions for women to keep cleaner due to common urinary tract infections.

The US Military has gendered hygiene requirements. If you are a male, you are allowed to be held in the field for up to 18 days without running water (for showering). If you are a unit with females, you are only allowed to be held in the field for 3 days without running water.

I was in the army once, and the only way this will work is if they raise the physical fitness standards on women to the same ones as men. As it stands, women aren't required by the military to be as in-shape as men.
