He's pulling away and your grasping tighter, even though he straight up told you he's pulling away. If a loving LTR with potential marriage happening is what YOU want - move on. A loving LTR with potential marriage is not what this guy wants.

It will be tough, but respecting his feelings and understanding it's not about you. He wasn't ready for marriage while the family pressure was happening. He wasn't ready for marriage when you were looking at rings together. He just wasn't ready and there was not much you could have done to change that. There is nothing wrong with you just because he's not ready for marriage. If the days don't get easier and you still don't feel comfortable or secure with your relationship as is, you probably nee…

Your feelings are probably right. When he pulled away the first time that was very telling of his true feelings. You said it yourself, you're married on paper, he doesn't acknowledge your relationship in a serious way, and his timeline for marriage is pretty far away. I'm sorry if this seems harsh but sugar coating the truth isn't going to help you. You need to decide if you can continue your fake marriage to reap the financial benefits or not. I don't think you making yourself into the perfect …

Apply for jobs you don't necessarily want and use those interviews as practice. A bit of practice and figuring out how to carry yourself comfortably might help. If any of those jobs decline you, ask them why. Find out what you could improve on. Its ok to be nervous!! Hang in there, things will work out eventually.

I'd bet money that he does something next year, especially since you didn't make a huge deal about it! I didn't get anything either because my birthday and our anniversary are also this month so I got spoiled for those...however this is the first year that I've ever gotten him anything. I made him a "man bouquet" - a bucket filled with beer, hot sauce, candy, some brownie mix, and a gag gift (which was Master Crapsman bathroom spray, haha) and it felt so good to do something nice for him for Val…

I was raised really closely to Mormonism but I never actually got baptized. I think that played a part in me thinking being sexual is slutty for sure. I was raised to think girls who have sex and enjoy it are sleazy and that is just plain not true. We've been together for 9 years. It's definitely taken me a while to feel comfortable being sexual. I still feel like I can't voice what I want or get too crazy but enjoying the moment and not overthinking helps. I don't worry about how he perceives m…

I feel a little uncomfortable with certain things being to slutty too. I've tried to control my thoughts during sex. Rather than feeling slutty or getting stuck in my own mind I try to relax a little and focus on what I like about the interaction. I can't always get my head into the game but when I do it's way more enjoyable for both of us.

This or buy those fake tattoo sleeves made out of nylon. I know the nylon might be more funny than sexy but that would be sweet of you to recreate a tattooed woman for a night.

The rudeness of the people you've listed here are not reflective of YOU. They're doing asshole things by their own choice and they would act the same way whether you were involved or not. Don't internalize the actions of other people. Its easier said than done, but I'm a small woman who gets irritated fairly easily by jerks like those so I understand where you're coming from. Due to my stature and things people would say to me, I felt the need to be a badass to prove them wrong but that didn't m…

The sex thing might have to do with her shitty periods. If she did go see a doctor about that she should go back and mention sex. She might have some hormonal issues or physical sensitivity issues or something.

Don't worry, if he's anything like my man he will forget all about that scary view of his happy place pretty quickly. I had a somewhat scary delivery with my first kid to the point where my man almost passed out right then and there... But as soon as the 6 weeks of healing were up things went back to (almost) normal. The lactation was more of a scare to him at that point.. Haha!

I think if the thought of being with another man makes your stomach turn, don't look for a man yet. Focus on you, focus on your son, learn to be you again. Once you're content and happy with your life it will be easier to be in a relationship.

Exactly. I just keep thinking if we hold out for a few more years it'll get easier. We could both find ways to be more frugal but haven't had a sit down conversation about it.

He works full time also. He helps with things from time to time. Before I found RP I used to bitch up a storm about him never helping and me doing everything. I have really tried my best to stop that and just ask nice for help when I really can't bare it anymore and that has helped, hopefully he has noticed that. The kids are 5 and 6... They sort of help, but not really.. haha!

We have about 20k car debt each, plus the house which is about 130k. No credit card debt, woop woop! He has a few medical bills under $1000 total. He makes $14 an hour or something like that and I'm just under 60k/yr salary. If I were to quit or cut back we would probably be screwed. He's working towards a promotion so if he can hang in there until the position opens up that will help.

I wish!! We can't afford a cleaning lady.

My situation is quite similar to yours. I really wish I could slow down my career a little to focus on doing what needs to be done for my relationship, except I can't because he doesn't make enough to support our family. We have piles of laundry in our room, dirty and clean. I have a hard time keeping the house as clean as I would like. Its not a pig sty or anything but if I had more time it would be in better shape. We are both getting fed up with the laundry situation, him moreso than me, but …

I work in the trucking industry. Very fast paced and lots of behind-the-scenes career paths to take that don't necessarily require college, or driving a truck.

I feel like I can relate. I didn't finish college either because I fell in love with the industry that I work in today and saw that I could skip finishing college, save a bunch of money that would have been spent on college, and still have a good career. Maybe instead of feeling mediocre due to your education you could take all the positives from not finishing school and focus on them if it ever comes up in conversation. College isn't for everyone.

How do you get to this point? I've been a lurker here for a while, bf of 7 years has probably never heard of RP... I've been trying to take baby steps into RP, like no nagging, trying to keep the house and kids as well kept as I can while working full time, making sure dinner is always made or at least planned by the time we both get off work, etc. But how do I get him to start being more decisive in general, how to I get him to take on different roles around the house (I guess you could say gen…

I'm a lurker here, but a lot of this really resonates with me. Why did you email him? To me the email reads as very impersonal, citing the government recommended number of drinks made the whole thing feel like a poorly written essay. If you're genuinely concerned about his well being you should probably approach him face to face. Is your husband RP as well? Does he provide for you? Does he care about your well being? It sounds like maybe you're getting used. You're doing everything you can to be…
