"Don't be frustrated - be fascinated." An old mentor gave this to me, not sure of the source. It's enabled me to let go of judgement/emotion when I find myself mystified by the behavior of others, my own shortcomings, or life in general. It's also really fun to look at her (my mentor) when we see someone showing their ass and just say, "how fascinating".

Thank you for the detailed reply. I appreciate the varied feedback that you all provide, and I know that in many cases wingnut's bluntness is exactly what is needed. If I were looking for advice, hers is among the first I would seek for that very quality. It just seemed unwarranted for this lady's comment, but not that big a deal! Just didn't want her to feel attacked or unwelcome.

Right and that point was gotten across very eloquently and clearly, and most of the responses to it were along the same lines. I can see where maybe wingnut was frustrated because of another poster who was actually arguing the validity of the original post, and maybe that is why she responded to this person in the way that she did. But each person should be responded to individually, and this person is new here and wasn't arguing against this post, she was just sharing her experience. Why did wi…

I normally abide by this concept, that if it's important to me and not him then I should be the one to handle it. I just think your analogy is an extreme one that doesn't convey the idea very well.

Have the mods read this asshole's post history? Edit. He obviously blindly hates us, red pill or not. Why even engage with such a person? Edit 2 oooohhhh y'all. He's only 16. That's either a relief or super sad.

Ah. Yes I have this poisonous notion that I know better than him. I am trying my hardest to purge it by 'faking it til I make it' and letting him make any important decisions in our life. Pupdate: his retinas are partially detached due to the swelling in his eyes. The ophthalmologist thinks it's something systemic, either autoimmune or infectious. We're waiting on test results. Send good vibes, please. I thanked him for driving us there and for helping me stay calm during this whole thing and fo…

I definitely went into it with the intention of respecting and not questioning (to him or our friends/family) his decision, as an exercise for me to trust and stfu. I can see that I didn't handle it in a perfect way, but it is a vast improvement from what I would have done six months ago. I don't believe it was a shit test because I was prepared for him to want to wait and don't hold that against him - can you help me understand how it might have been a shit test? This is the first major decisio…

Oh I'm really glad it's self reflection day - I've wanted to post about something but didn't think it justified its own post. My focus lately has been relinquishing control and giving him space to lead. This led to a huge test for me this past week, when our one year old puppy starting having eye issues (redness and his third eyelids are chronically extended). It was my 'weekend' when it started, so after 24 hours of them looking bad I took him to our local vet. Vet did a couple tests but had no…

Thanks for this! I've been trying to wrap my head around letting go of some of the things I do in our relationship that I don't mind doing at all, but I know would be a burden to him. It's nice to be reassured that I can submit and still handle the stuff I'm good at.

I know I'm late, but I read about a really cool walking/driving meditation a few months ago that has drastically alleviated my resting bitch face ("mean mugging"): Every person you pass, think to yourself, "May you be well and happy." This positive mantra seems to crowd out all the other thoughts for me, and makes me really aware of them as a human being with struggles, goals, and feelings. Hope that helps. May you be well and happy :)

Late to the party! But February 14th is my SO's birthday, so I always insist on making it about him, and he always insists on making it about me/us, so there's tons of lovin goin on. I booked us a sweet, cannabis friendly hotel room in downtown Denver (fireplace and Jacuzzi tub and free cookies and milk), and he's taking me out to a sushi / sake bar. I'm wearing this to dinner :)

Thank you! I browse TRP and MarriedRP somewhat regularly, because I find the field reports enlightening. I could see how the uninitiated could be put off by the locker room talk, though.

That makes sense. I met my SO when he was 29 and I was 21, but he was a young 29 :) plus my parents are quite a bit older, so there was no comparing his age with my father's. There is something to be said for a slightly larger age gap - I'll be his hot younger woman for a good long while, as long as I take care of myself.

This thread is amazing and all of the feedback has been so insightful, in general. As to your specific concerns about your under eyes, I have to link this video I have never tried this product but my girlfriends and I have watched the video numerous times due to the sheer magic of what happens to her face... maybe for special occasions or pictures, you could try it out

I'm excited for you! I'm new-ish here as well (it's been a couple of months), but all the content I've encountered here has been thought-provoking and helpful. I just want to recommend "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Laura. It covers almost all of the common marriage mistakes women make. As to whether he can change without reading material of his own, you may be very surprised at how much of his unattractive behavior is due to lack of motivation to please you. When you start bei…
