Conditioning to undo! Yes! Even though my current partner is wonderful, I still have to work extra hard to undo all the senseless conditioning I was put through in high school and college. Especially living in the south, there is so much pressure to have a perfect relationship and be married young and fast. I have to constantly remind myself that I am a treasure to my man. Any time I am feeling down on myself I tend to pull back, and he always notices and checks in. I still have my days, but I a…

because he wanted to move in at her parents house. i’m guessing the parents said no not unless you’re married so they loopholed their way into playing house.

Yup. This is why I hate saying I’m a Christian bc it associates me with these people. Like I said, it’s just an easy out for him. If he cheats he can justify it by saying they were never legally married. He’s living rent free and I guarantee you her parents pay for everything.

right? 😂 I thought it was so odd that she chose a Celtic ceremony to get married in her Christian faith

No you did not offend me! I’m a big supporter of practicing whatever gives you peace and healing. For me it’s Christianity, but I understand that it’s not for everyone. I also have dealt with the struggles of purity culture, but now am at a point where I know the only person in charge of my body is me! I think it’s ridiculous that people get married just so they can have sex, but I see it allll the time

As a Christian this just makes me cringe. It’s why I rarely talk about my religious beliefs because I’m afraid to be roped in with a group of people that do shit like this. I bet she wanted her boyfriend to live with her and her parents said no not on our property unless you’re married so they found a loophole. She is only 20 years old. They just wanna have sex 😂

I read the comments. The amount of incels didn’t surprise me but it made me sad how many women were like “I would love this date!!” Yeah I would have said the same thing a year ago but I’ve learned to read between to lines. One girl even bragging about being married 20 years like that had anything to do with it...I was telling my parents about it over facetime and they were cracking up. My dad offered to kick the guy’s ass and then a few minutes later randomly said “f*ckin’ LAVA CAKE!” 10 minute…

I showed the mom of the kids I nanny and she genuinely thought he was being ironic and it was a joke. I had to inform her that unfortunately this is how men are these days.

This sub has really made me see through what men say and read between the lines. I made a post last week bc I ended up sleeping with this guy on the first date and was really upset with myself. He ghosted me all week then randomly texts me today and says this...it’s so obvious I’m a last resort too. He lost out on his tournament so he figures he can try and get me into bed by offering me cake. A year ago I probably would have found this sweet and charming, but I saw directly through what he was …

Thanks for making me not feel so alone! lol I tried going in saying I wasn’t gonna let it happen, but I think deep down part of me wanted it to whether I wanted to admit it at the time or not. That is my biggest battle I think, is just learning to value myself.

While I appreciate the advice, please don’t tell me I don’t love myself based on one situation I shared. I may not love myself enough every day, but my journey to self love has been a long one. You invalidating that just because I fucked up and gave into my sexual desires does not mean I don’t love myself.

Thank you. I’m not even sure I want to call it a “mistake” because I had a sexual desire and it was fulfilled. I just wish I would have gone about it a different way.

Thank you so much. I think sometimes I get so wrapped up in trying to be this perfect HVW that I forget I am still human with needs and sexual desires. Thank you for also reminding me he still did the bare minimum and I shouldn’t be putting him up on a pedestal for it. I will try to spend my time today putting energy and love into myself instead of stressing about the what ifs. ❤️

Thank you. The pandemic really took a massive toll on me. As a teacher, my job and my students were taken from me without even getting the chance to say goodbye. Then to add the cherry on top I had to have 2 surgeries in December/January so it kind of forced me into a 2 month lockdown where I literally only saw my parents so I was for sure going stir crazy. Oh and the extra cherry, I live in the south so the snow storm last week isolated me again! If I could just stop getting forced into isolati…

I have been trying so hard for the past year to focus on myself. Due to COVID and getting dumped right after lockdown started, This was really my first date in a year. Every time I take a break from dating, I feel great for awhile, but the impending loneliness finds a way to creep back in and get to me, causing me to do dumb things like the above lol. I also live in the south so everyone my age (I’m 26) is already married and having babies so there’s this societal pressure that even though I kno…

I used to be just like this. Initiated practically everything. In my past relationships I was always the one planning date nights, and had severe anxiety because my exes never made the plans so I always stressed about being annoying or too much. Since I have joined this sub, I have changed so much. I left a toxic situationship in December, and yesterday, for the first time in over a year, I was asked out on an actual dinner date. No “let’s grab a drink” or “wanna watch a movie?” but actually a m…

I love this point of view. If a man does ask me that question in the future, I will make sure that ground rules are laid out to what being committed truly means. I have been so mistreated in my past, to the point where I have developed texting anxiety, trust issues galore, and an anxious attachment style of thinking. I was way too easy on the men in my past, and I’m slowly learning how worthy I am and how I deserve to be treated.

I’ve never had a man look at me and say the words “Will you be my girlfriend?.” It has always been a “what are we?” conversation that I have prompted. Thanks to FDS I now understand my worth and strive to never settle for a man who can’t even discuss commitment with me.

I hope she dumps him. My LVM ex also had a female best friend. He constantly texted her, went out to dinner with her and lied to me about his whereabouts multiple times, and even had pet names for each other. When I confronted him about it after seeing a message from her to him that said “hey boo” with a heart emoji, I asked him to stop. He claimed it was an old nickname and he hadn’t called her that since him and I had gotten together. I asked him to talk to her about respecting me and not call…

If the dad of my nanny family ever accidentally walked in the room naked I think I would be like Buddy the Elf in the bathroom scene where he covers his eyes and runs directly into the wall. If I noticed the dad was doing it frequently I would let the mom know immediately.

my very white LVM ex and his gamer friends constantly used the N word and used the word “gay” as an insult. His best friend was the worst. They were really into guns, and this friend constantly made “jokes” about shooting up places. It got to the point where he was directly making “jokes” towards me, a teacher, about school shootings. Even going as far as “jokingly” asking which school I worked at. I refused to tell him due to genuine fear. Looking back I wish I would have walked away right then…

I especially love the ones where the couple has multiple children together and do a family photoshoot even though the mom and dad are just boyfriend and girlfriend. (I have 2 friends like this. 2 kids each, no wedding in sight but they do wear engagement rings)

Right? I’m picturing a beef head who puts the gym (aka the selfies he takes in the gym) before anything else im life and considers himself country because he listens to Morgan Wallen (who is an extreme LVM btw)

oklahoma. It’s legal to grow here and sell. buyers just have to have a medical card which are incredibly easy to obtain. it’s either “cannabis farmer” or “bud tender” .... I wish I was kidding Ever since it became legal here so many men are into it. They post pictures at their grow locations and argue that it’s really a profitable business. I once had a guy tell me he grows it but doesn’t smoke it...sure Jan.

Thank you so much for this. As a disabled woman, I constantly stress over “scaring” men off. I have this fear that no one will want to commit to a lifetime with me because that means they would have to not only learn everything about my illnesses but become my advocate and my caregiver if i were to have surgery or were sick. It’s something I struggle with but never really discuss because I don’t have anyone who actually understands. I haven’t really received the approach of a man wanting to help…

Maybe it’s a southern thing, but every single time any girl I follow has a husband that makes/brings her coffee, she makes sure to post it on her instagram story and brag about how lucky she is. I see at least 3 coffee husband brags a day. That’s when I know their marriage must be awful.

I was just thinking about this the other day. A coworker/good friend of mine asked me to check out her 13 year old daughter’s tik tok account. I went into who she was following and she followed a bunch of accounts that were “kink” centric. they would have text posts of things saying “I want to choke you and slap your ass blah blah” just really crazy BDSM shit. I read a few of the posts to my friend and she was shocked. When I was 13 a girl at school told me she gave a boy a blow job and I seriou…

Kind of a different take on this situation but one of my favorite stories... When my parents were dating, one day they were chatting with friends and the topic of marriage got brought up. They both already knew they wanted to marry each other, even though it had only been 6 weeks. So my dad turns to my mom and says “Well do you wanna?” My mom said she made him say it. She looked at him and said “Do I wanna what?” and he said “Get married?” They were young and in college and weren’t super materia…

I guess I can say I’m lucky that I witnessed a friend have to take Plan B before I lost my virginity. It made her extremely sick to the point where she stayed in bed for a few days and explained to me all the awful side effects. I vowed to myself to never put myself in a situation where I needed to take it and got myself on BC before I even started having sex. This is a big part of sex education that I think needs to be taught. Just because the pill exists does not mean you should be taking it.
