My parents are 11 years apart. They were abusive towards each other and to us. I don't talk to them anymore. The met when she was 17, so that shit was normalized to us. My mother had to work, rund the household and give all her money to the "shared" bank account. The weirdest thing is how old he is now. I guess the difference between 40 and 50 wasn't so stark... But now she is an active woman in her 50s and he is an old fuck whose body is falling apart, because he never took care of himself. I w…

Gilmore Girls was my favorite show when I was a teen... I can't watch it anymore. The romantic relationships are terrible and most characters are toxic.

Sterling is absolutely beautiful, but I would not use it for jewelry that goes on your hands. It's too soft... I'm still heart broken over my silver bracelet that's full of scratches now 😭

God damn it, there are cheaper options in engagement rings that are absolutely stunning: Vintage Rings, rings on etsy you by from artists directly, synthetic diamonds, birth stone rings.... There is literally no excuse to propose with a ring this shitty!

I write really well (not in English but in my native languages) so I have a great cover letter it's really good. So I was applying for jobs once and my bf at the time said: "I know what cover letter I'll use, when I start applying for jobs!" He didn't even ask, he just assumed he could use my work as his own... I hate that stuff 😒

I used to send my ex grocery shopping and he checked in the kitchen what we still had and just bought what was missing... So turns out that was very exceptional. The bar really is in hell.

I wanted to thank you guys for something dating unrelated... Since I started reading this sub my apartment is so much cleaner. I struggled with cleaning and tidying when I didn't have anyone coming over a lot. However now I love making the space nice for myself, because I deserve a nice comfy apartment ☺️

Somebody here once recommended to write all those paragraphs that you want to text him into your notes app. I have been doing that for a week and realised that the cathartic thing for me is writing them and not sending them. It does give me closure i don't need him for that. He never had anything interesting to add anyways

I posted some appreciation stiries about women in my life. I would have never thought about this, if it wasn't for this reddit. So this is an appreciation post for all of you. Thank you for helping me see what a gift my girlfriends are!

I made us some pancakes for breakfast and he brought me beautiful flowers. We took a walk together to a church nearby. Then I relaxed in the bathtub with a cocktail while he cooked a three course dinner for us. He tried some new recipes and it was so so so delicious! My gift didn't arrive on time, but all in all it was a lovely day

Well it's not one thing, but because he gets flowers so often the employees at the florist's all know him by now. It's because he asks so many questions about the flowers in order to get the right ones. So now the flowers are beautiful, in my favorite colors and last for ages! Right now I have two bouquets because the older one is still kicking 😊 Side note: any tips on how to keep roses alive longer? I love how they look, but they they always die on me...

I will change my name because I have a difficult relationship with my parents and I want to have different name than them. Getting married is a convenient way of doing that.

My sister's boyfriend once said that I'm not a feminist, because my fiance carried out luggage into our Airbnb on holiday, while my sister helped carrying theirs. I told him that my partner likes doing these things for me to make my life easier. That obviously never even crossed this guy's mind...

This man is an idiot. An engagement ring is a reflection of the man that bought it. Now everyone knows that he is... Well a reflection of whatever that is supposed to be.

On the plus side: this Valentine's can only get better than the last one. And clearly this fool didn't see and appreciate what he had with you!

I don't know if men even want that... All the men I know either ignore Valentine's or go all out. None of them ever told me about the gifts they got, only about what they did or didn't do "on principle". For both kinds of men gifts seem to be a waste of time...

Why would he propose if he wasn't able to pay for the ring. Weddings aren't cheap, houses aren't cheap, children aren't cheap... If you can't afford a ring you can't afford a wife

Totally! I once visited a client for work (she was a crafter that made cute things out of wood) and she let me pick a free piece. I picked a wooden heart that said "thank you for beeing there for me" and gave it to my boyfriend. He was soooo happy! He hung it on the wall and thanked me a thousand times.

That's so depressing. After I got engaged everybody asked about the story and I was so happy that I could tell a cute story and a lovely ring to show. If that had been the story I would've been to embarrassed to tell people about the engagement.

A happy story: I burnt my oven mitts. They were really pretty and had owls on them. I was a bit sad but didn't replace them. A few weeks later a package from Amazon arrived with new mitts. My fiance bought them, he said he had to order them online because he looked in every store and couldn't find the right ones for me. The new ones are perfect they have cats on them and I call them "kitten mittens". I think that says a lot about how perceptive men are. If they don't do something for you it's no…

Started to do whatever I want with it. I have a very positive fiancée when it comes to my body I genuinely think that he thinks I'm beautiful no matter what I do to my hair. When a man really loves you you will always look wonderful and sexy to them.

We are going to one of the fanciest restaurants in our city and afterwards we'll go and practice our dance moves. He is really good with special occasions so I always have something lovely to look forward to.
