This motivated me to keep taking my birth control even though it makes me gain weight

There is nothing to romanticize about this. My grandma lived on a farm with her husband and nine children. She hand-washed clothes, cooked meals from scratch, cleaned the little house they lived in, contributed to farm work with her husband, took care of all those nine kids, sew clothes, etc. it was TOUGH. In today’s society there is technology that makes laundry and cooking and cleaning an easy task. There is no reason for women to stay home unless she had at 2 young kids or more.

If you’re trying to get married, avoid black American men. African men are always willing to marry and they are more likely to be well educated. My mother and sister are Africans married to other Africans. My sister’s husband owns 6 houses and works in finance. Please stop.

As a black woman who is in her first relationship (and we’ve been together for a little over a year), your race does don’t determine your value. LeBron James chose a darkskinned black woman to marry and I have so many darkskinned friends from church that are married to/marrying well educated men (doctors, engineers, preachers, blue collar, etc) so you really need to stop this narrative. One thing to increase you value though is to improve your attitude towards your man. The biggest thing a man w…

Usually he pays - and he’s still a college student. But he does his best to treat me well. Sometimes (rarely) we’ll split 50/50 if we feel the bill is a bit much than expected.

My birthday was October 30th. And it’s a fact most college guys just want sex. Anyways my boyfriend and I got back together it was just my mom that caused things to go bad. We’re at 9 months now

Haha I’m 21 actually and my man and I are still together.

Don’t. They just want to use you for sex. Find a man that’s older (24+) and is looking to settle down and be serious. I’m telling you from experience.

I am deeply in love with him. Like completely. He is very attractive and goes to the gym frequently. I am the problem here

If a man likes you, he will make an effort to spend time with you. Don’t be delusional - been there, done that.

You are right. Thank you for your advice

Yes I am on birth control pills. Sometimes I cry for no reason and sometimes when when he acts sort of childish I get mad (for instance, when I saw him kicking around a balloon in a teenager kind of outfit, I developed a bad attitude). But then at some point I’ll realize that I am overreacting and apologize to him.

You bring up a very well thought out perspective and I really appreciate your response. I actually would like to be a wife right now - I’ve wanted to since I turned 19 but my parents are the type to say I must finish college in order to get married in order to ensure I have a “plan B” from when married. I only have 2 more years left until I’ve finished college and I must admit, it’s too late to try to end things with him: we love each other very much. I want to be by his side as we grow in Chris…

Hmm, I see what you are saying. And my sex drive is already high while we’re dating so I’m sure the intimacy when we’re married will not be lackluster LOL.

I reread and now I understand. Sometimes my brain is elsewhere LOL.

“Luring him with sex” is absurd. Waiting for marriage is simply a way for a women to protect herself from being pumped and dumped, which is normalized in todays society. While in our courting stage, I treat my man with respect, utmost importance, serve him with food I made for him, and physical affection so that he sees I do love him and don’t want to “trap” him.

I used to think like you until I found l someone I really love and got into a relationship with. Two wrongs don’t make a right. If a man finds out you’re just using him for dates and money, you might get seriously hurt.

Your last paragraph is so true. He has Bible studies with a guy friend our age and his dad who is a pastor. I never want to seem “preachy” to him or pressure him to do anything. He found Christ for himself and decided to be baptized by that “guy friend’s dad” before I was ever in the picture.

Marrying him is def on my mind! I love the man already LOL.

Hmm, I see what you are saying and I thank you for your response. He started taking his faith much seriously about 3 months ago. A lot of the times we spend together is through him playing the piano while I sing worship songs. Because I can tell he is trying to live a godly life and he has opened up to me about many things, it makes me love him. I understand that because he is very attracted to me and he loves me, it is in his biological nature to want to, quite frankly, go much further. So marr…

We’re not financially stable yet. We’re still trying to finish college but we’re in our twenties.

Sex is anything regarding the genitals. I let him do kissing on the neck and above and some hand placement but that’s it.

He’s not your husband yet, girl. Remember that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
