Thank you. I couldn't agree more.

Yeah that's the direction I'm learning more and more.

I'm sorry but, how is calling yourself a men's right's advocate any different?

Hahaha. Just now? You were salivating around your pedantic bit earlier. But now I've gone to far. Awesome. Later.

Fine let's ignore there spirit of the discussion and go down a road of pedantry. You are saying that 'practical' in this case, means that you want too ignore a sizable majority of the silent populace. That's fantastic. I don't see the point of it, but do whatever you want. My goal is to find some truth, to learn something I didn't know. If I was building a house you're right, I wouldn't care what the vast silent majority thought. But I'm not building a house. I'm trying to learn and teach. There…

This site isn't the world. We are a very small amount of very privileged people. How are you treated in there world? You specifically. Your experiences.

How is ignoring reality in anyway practical?

I do, without issue.

I can't get on board with that sort of thinking.

I think the requirements are the same. I agree to lower them would be a mistake. I don't see that happening though.

I don't want to sound like an asshole either. But we are all flawed and biased. Why are your experiences and interactions more valid mine? I know people I talk with. I can only judge the reality I know about. That's why I'm here that's why I'm talking. I'm trying to expand my point of view. Hopefully others as well.

What are your thoughts on recent advances in women in combat roles in american military?

Hello, thank you for speaking. Do you think labels like 'feminist' or 'men's rights advocate' deepen divisions between genders?

I have a close friend in the military. Though I agree, I could always talk to more people.

Interesting. I will will look into your first suggestion. As to the YouTube recommendation, I don't think I'd be useful. I'll watch but it seems like seeking out someone you disagree with to further your goals isn't very productive. It seems very reactionary to me.

I disagree, just because someone doesn't speak up doesn't meant they don't exist or matter. Reality can't be set aside for taking points.

You are blaming women for their biology? I don't see a lot of logic in that. I agree that both sides have various preferential treatment. What I don't see the point of, is coming down on either side. Creating more division is working against everyone. Don't you are that?

I admit to anything that is true. My past is firmly part of me. I don't think I'd wear a similar shirt today any more than I'd wear a MRA shirt. I though, incorrectly, that I was promoting equality. Is that what you think you are doing right now? What do you think you accomplish by arguing a single side of a debate? When I was a child I would have disagreements with siblings, we'd get really mad. My parents would stop us and say "switch sides". We'd have to argue from the other persons point of …

Equality appeals to me. Actual real equality. No favor or preference given beyond those merited by actual deeds. It's something that I'm realizing more and more that neither side is actually interested in despite the lip service to the contrary.

I guess we are all blind to our own short comings. I definitely am. The people I talk to include responsibility and disposability under this equality umbrella.
/r/MensRights12/08/13 06:01 PM

Do you understand that they would say the same of you and be equally wrong?
/r/MensRights12/08/13 05:59 PM

But rebranding could be a good first step. I agree it's very confusing and I'll defined. There many things that with heavily in favor of one gender or another. With all this confusion, why are people adding to it with all these lines in the sand so clearly named to divide. Where are the actual gender equalists? Because neither side seems concerned with this. Maybe I just haven't found them yet. Maybe I should start that.

To me in my experiences the people that actually believe in those things are pretty rare. I see it on both sides. We create enemies that no one could possibly agree with, they hold up a vocal minority as representative of a larger group. Feminists do it to you all to. I'm trying to shed some light on that. I'm trying to talk about something that people don't seem to wasn't too admit to. And I may be wrong. That's the whole thing, we could all be wrong, unchangeable stances don't help anything.

If I though you were stupid why would I wasn't too talk to you at all? I'm genuinely curious and wanting to have a discussion, but people don't seem interested in that.

I am speaking of both sides. It seems equally hippocritical to name either side after I single gender. It seems like men's rights advocates are just as reactionary as feminists. No one is concerned with equality just with their own side. I find the whole thing sad.

I'll read the side bar. Though you have to realize the there are a lot of side bars on the site to look at. I'm not speaking with any authority. I'm asking a question. I didn't think this would bother people so much. I though it was an interesting thing to talk about. My apologies.

I don't think the laughing & spitting mentality is useful. When I disagree with someone I try to understand where they are coming from. I don't think closing ourselves off to others and being hostile helps anything. Even if they were hostile first.

I'm talking about both sides. This issue is rampant.

I just don't think that your definition of patriarchy is one that any feminist would agree with or vice versa. I guess if you could both agree on the terms there wouldn't be much of a disagreement.

Would it smell as sweet? The point of that quote was to say that the names don't matter the underlying essence is the important part. I'm going to disagree with Shakespeare on this one. Proper names for flowers is one thing but the meanings of ill-defined ideologies us another. When you name a group of ideas it matters a whole lot what that name is. There is no physicality to an idea. No smell. It's essence is whatever we create. So your prefect religion of ultra-harmony that is simple and works…

When I googled 'patriarchy theory' the stuff I've been reading is pretty varied & disjointed. In fact one of the top Google posts is a reddit post from f/feminism say a very similar thing about men's rights advocates. They even said it was a straw man argument to say that all feminists subscribe to a theory that they are victims and oppressed. As someone from the outside its really strange to me that so many assumptions would be made by each side without trying to understand each other. And that…

I'm wanting to know what you think though. I'm not on either side of this. And it's really strange and confusing how each side thinks the other defined itself.

I didn't think that that was a widely held belief, that men had it easy. I mean I thought it was a generally accepted truth that majority of earth's societies are currently patriarchal in that there is more power and deferment held by that gender (I was reading about matriarchal pockets in China and indigenous tribes but they seem to be the minority) I'm not very learned on this patriarchal theory though. Can you point me to some reading material? Is it a central tenant of the feminists that you…

I haven't met a feminist that hates men. Is it common? What is your experience? Also, I'm unclear about your response. How do you define feminism? Or how do you think most self described feminists would define it? All I keep hearing is about equality.

That's not lame. That's totally understandable. It took a violent blow to the face to keep you from her. Use it. Hopefully it's wasn't from a lucky punch some handicapped person got in while you were beating them with a tire iron. That might not work in your favor, with the ladies.

I think the key detail is the 'something that came up". Your reluctance to say whatever it is explicitly, makes me think it's quite lame. Tell her what it was. If you can't do that and make it funny or charismatic or whatever your 'game' requires. Then you have already lost and should move on.

I find communication is important. At that point if you want her in a sexual way it seems like a good idea to say it as directly and clearly as possible. She has just as many questions hanging up in the air as you do. Like; 'How far does he want to take this?' 'Is he just kissing me out of boredom / convenience? or if I tried to leave would he stop me?' As awful of a "test" as that would be, It might be what's going on in her head. You'll never know if there's just making out with no talking.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
