That only gives one solution: men, stop killing men.

Are you are telling me that these women taking care of their own families in the relative comfort of their home were being oppressed by their husbands? No, not saying that, but it didn’t have to go on... It’s right that women finally got out of their home to work as well. No one has a right to any particular job. And tell me about the education of your grandfather on your mother's side. Did he have a degree? He did, in accaounting. My mother told me that at school they were teaching women about …

Wow, I’m trying to protect women who identify as feminists and are not pushing men down while doing so. I certainly acknowledge every women and I don’t want to imply that women who are not feminists are not women! I’m sorry if I don’t express myself very well but I don’t think there should be so much hate towards feminists as well as there shouldn’t be so much hate towards men. The way towards equality should be to try to put ourselves in the shoes of the other gender even if that’s difficult. I…

So tell me about education. First, I don’t know about your ancestors but my grand mother and great grand mother (from both parents) were to stay at home and take care of the children. However my grand mother from my father’s side wanted a better education and it has been very difficult for her to achieve that, when she got her diploma, she couldn’t get the job she wanted and don’t you say that it was because she was lazy or didn’t want responsibilities because she’s not at all like that. My moth…

Two thirds of women identify as feminists in Canada and the UK (while 19% of them seem to be more extremists) https://www.statista.com/statistics/693896/canadians-identify-feminist-gender/ While the majority "somewhat agree" which means they know there are things about feminism that are not good. In th US, the number is much lower, that might explain why half of the women voted for Trump. I used to not identify as a feminist because I thought the movement was tol radical and prevented men to tal…

That’s because the majority of women identify as feminists nowadays and because I saw comments talking shit about women on this sub not just about feminists.

I suggest to people to drop the feminist label because the anti-equality 'feminists' use everyday people who care about gender equality as a shield. People can call themselves women's rights activists instead. I’ve been thinking about that while discussing here, but I still fear that other people who identify as feminists but have egalitarian views are going to be mocked and I feel protective towards them. About the radical organizations, I said somewhere else that it’s like veganism and PETA, w…

They have a pretty good influence on young people in Quebec (that’s where I’m from), but I’m sure or at least I hope there are other feminist influencers around the globe who have the same views and a bigger impact. Still makes me believe we are going through a lot of changes concerning the meaning of feminism and gender equality.

Not all feminists want to abolish prison or shorter sentences, nor want women-only scholarships, actually men have been heard and people who also call themselves feminists think these matters are sexist. The problem is feminism as a community not individual feminists. It’s like thinking all vegans think PETA is a good organization. Most of them are quiet and civilized and don’t impose their beliefs, but the movement is so loud that we start generalizing all vegans. I, as a vegan think PETA is th…

I’m not a woman of this period of time, but as humans all are, I don’t think that when people do a revolution they think about getting the bad stuff (responsibilities) as well as the good stuff (rights). It’s more reasonable to take both, yes, but with the frustration, they got what they wanted and well, with their level of education I guess that was their logic. Now it’s a different time and a lot of women actually want more (and have more) responsibilities and be taken more seriously.

Do you think those old days should have remained? I understand that it was men’s duty to go to work but it had to change at some point... Feminism at first was a revolution movement to make the change because you cannot make big changes without taking big action. Now that women got what they wanted, feminism is becoming more aware of equality of all genders. It’s a work in progress like anything else but you have to believe that feminists’ intentions at heart are not all about women supremacy. I…

Brought women together by feeling they’re not the only ones struggling with their complexes, they don’t have to shave to be pretty, they don’t have to wear bras if they find them uncomfortable and it’s okay, to stop feeling guilty when they don’t act like what society expects. Open up about the reality of pregnancy and childbirth and how it’s not as pretty as it seems. Not feel shamed for a decision about their body like getting an abortion. Talk about mental health problems and rape. That’s wha…

Because I start seeing more and more that people who identify as feminists really just want gender equality. It’s as simple as that and hating on them will probably make them more angry and we’ll fall again in the loop of power. I really believe feminists are trying to be more empathetic and about men’s rights too because I’m simply more surrounded by them than ever before. That’s a start.

Because it’s going towards a more equal approach, and I keep seeing the opposite. I guess we only see what we want to see. And that’s because of the anger of not seeing enough equity from both parties. But I can assure you that feminism movement is changing and will hopefully not be defined by the past anymore but by the new views on what gender equality means.

I hear this now. Feminism is not about gender equality because it wasn’t in the past so it cannot be in the present. Then is r/mensrights about equality? Where can I find a sub like this one but where women publish? Or maybe there isn’t one because women are not reasonable enough to have one, as I wouldn’t want to have to imply.

When someone lies it’s when they know the "truth" and say otherwise, so first please don’t call me a liar because I dony know the "truth". If I stop calling for civility, should I instead pick a team and continue to fight this war that will never end (because no gender is better than the other one)? I get it, men want to be heard too, but that doesn’t mean we should say mean things about women who identify as feminists while having egalitarian views. I just want to hear both sides but I can’t be…

I never thought men were stupid. And neither should men think women are stupid or irrational we’re still just fighting at the end. The thing I wanted to point out is that I find it a shame that there is less criticism in r/feminism than in r/mensrights. Maybe it’s just the timing but saying that feminists are all misandrists is a direct hate towards women since a lot of them identify as feminists while having egalitarian views. I feel like r/mensrights is just trying to "win" a fight that will n…

https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/suffrage here for example. I can go take pictures of my books too but now you’re gonna say that’s not a good source. Alright, but I’m absolutely curious about your source that proves women always had more rights.

Well I’ve learned that in history classes but may I ask what is your source to claim that it’s not the case?

But women could not have an advanced education. A good education and the right to vote are both rights that took some time for women to get.

Alright thanks for helping me see light I’m in a path where I re-question everything I try to open up to new views with objectivism. This discussion proves me that my journey is going to be very long but I’m not afraid of it since I still find good intentions from opinions I would have not expected before.

But I’m not the only one, many people have good intentions being feminists genuinely thinking it’s now about gender equality and these people shouldn’t be hated on because that’s gonna continue to seperate us. Not all people have bad intentions, we don’t have to be on the defensive 24/7 unless some serious harm has been done.

What should I do in your opinion to take the issue up? I really want to encourage gender equality and I don’t seem to have the good approach apparently so I would like your advice.

I have a genuine question: would we have equal rights in the present time if there had never been feminist movements?
/r/MensRights11/05/20 02:15 AM

I think I understand your point. The thing is, a lot of people identify as feminists thinking it is egalitarianism and shouldn’t be bashed for it because they don’t have bad intentions.

I hate when misandrists identify as feminists because it keeps putting a bad label on it. But I believe many women are feminists and it is a minority (of women) - but a loud one - who talks shit about men. I am not hating on any side, and I think we should point out behaviors that are not acceptable without being mean.

Thanks a lot, it was a good question and good answers too. I didn’t mean any hate and just wanted to point out that the word "feminism" is changing its meaning for a lot of people, so it’s a pity that we still think about the patriarchy theory while so many people believe in a new form of feminism (which is all genders equal) and don’t need to be criticized for it.
