I’m not bashing you I’m trying to open your eyes. If you hold egalitarian views but claim to be a feminist it means you are being used. Feminist leaders need to turn well meaning people into chumps. They need people out there claiming it’s one thing (gender equality) when it’s about something completely different (gender supremacy). It gives them cover to do really shitty things that hurt men and women.

The thing is, a lot of people identify as feminists thinking it is egalitarianism and shouldn’t be bashed for it because they don’t have bad intentions.

Listen, I understand adopting this label because to the average, uninformed person it "sounds like" equality for the sexes. I'm sure I would've fell into it a long time ago.

However, once you delve into some of the theories feminism pushes and applies to gender and social issues it's hard, at least with a critical mind, to think "Something just doesn't fit here."

Then there are ACTIONS feminism took in the name of equality like The Duluth Model of Domestic Violence and blocking Shared Parenting to name a few. It's very hard not to come away feeling like feminism isn't as benign as advertised.

You and others may have good intentions. But the actions feminism took, the double-standards in its mission towards achieving equality, actively hurt men in the long run.

Plus once you've experienced abuse at the hands of women (like I had) then find feminism could care less (like I had) you realize it's just not for you.

Wow, I’m trying to protect women who identify as feminists and are not pushing men down while doing so. I certainly acknowledge every women and I don’t want to imply that women who are not feminists are not women! I’m sorry if I don’t express myself very well but I don’t think there should be so much hate towards feminists as well as there shouldn’t be so much hate towards men. The way towards equality should be to try to put ourselves in the shoes of the other gender even if that’s difficult. The fact that you seem to consider valid criticism towards feminism as 'hate' tells me a lot about your mentality and yes it is incredibly patronising to defend these beliefs especially when you obviously don't know anything about the movement your defending.

So many of you self-proclaimed moderate feminists who try to present yourselves as the civil types capable of debate are utter plebeians when it comes to actually discussing the ideology you supposedly believe in. You know nothing about feminism and no amount of bluster and arrogance on your part can hide that.

Many people here have studied feminism for years and it's always amazing how people think that just because they're friends with one or two feminists in real life that automatically discounts all the history and literature that has completely plagued the feminist movement and turned it into what it is today.

No, that's not how this works. That being said I should thank you because you've given me some very useful mentality into the sort of insight it takes for someone to go running around and claiming that people who criticise feminism are hating women. The fact that you actually think that the majority of women identify as feminists shows just how out of touch with reality you are.

However my grand mother from my father’s side wanted a better education and it has been very difficult for her to achieve that, when she got her diploma, she couldn’t get the job she wanted and don’t you say that it was because she was lazy or didn’t want responsibilities because she’s not at all like that. My mother told me that at school they were teaching women about home tasks like the laundry, cooking, and how to talk to their husband when he comes home from work to not disturb him. She wanted to have the more useful economy classes that men were given instead of that but she wasn’t allowed to. That’s not just the case for my mother, my High School also used to give these classes. Now there have been some women like Marie Curie who had to leave her country and move to France to get a proper education, and Joan Clarke who was the best mathematician and only woman in her class but was denied a full degree because those were only given to men. I’m just giving too examples here. It was very frowned upon in that time to be a woman and want a good education since they were "meant" to stay home.

Yes, that was the way things were in pre-industrial societies, survival dictated that women take care of the children while men went out looking for food, or in more modern times, they went to work, often in coal mines and other dangerous and unpleasant environments. It still proves that society wanted to keep the stigma that womem need to stay at home while men go to work and have responsibilities, even decades after the industrial period. And I don’t understand how does it disprove it, my grandmothers from both sides of the family had these classes, but the one from my father’s side wanted an education after this one. While she was able to, getting a job was another thing. They gave her the receptionist job while she didn’t apply for that.

From what I see, it’s only since 2014 that the percentage is higher for women than for men. I don’t want to jump to conclusion but does that mean that 5 years of injustice towards men - in this particular subject - is worth more than 75 years of injustice for women? I agree that white women are more privileged in the western country since the last decade and we should aim towards more equality right now. But I can’t say that there haven’t been injustice in the past, and that doesn’t mean men should suffer from that in the present.

Yes, that’s why I support men’s rights as well as women’s rights. However there have been injustices in the past towards women and disproving that is just being against history facts. I could say that there has never been concentration camps in Hitler’s time and that any history books saying that could have been written just for propaganda. We’re supposed to learn from history to prevent us from doing the same mistakes over and over.

It’s not because there have been so many schools for girls and women that it wasn’t frowned upon for a woman to go to school instead of staying at home for the family. The movements helped normalize educated women. Some have gone too far, yes, but again if we just keep pointing fingers and show frustration without trying to understand each other’s side this fight will never end, that’s it. I’m planning on taking action, maybe writing a book (not in English, don’t worry) to try to reconcile both genders and I needed to hear men in this subject and will continue to do so (I know I won’t change the world but maybe some extremists’ opinions hopefully). Right now our problem is that BOTH parties are cherry picking the statistcs and it’s very cancerous because both think they are right and the other’s wrong.

Perhaps your history classes should have taught the rest of the story as well. Men needed an education because it was their duty, imposed by law, to support their wives. The reverse obligation did not exist. If you go round cherry-picking, you can always find a lack of equality: women couldn't vote (not strictly true in fact) but they were also not subject to conscription, girls tended to not to go to school as much as boys (traditional boys' schools were pretty nasty institutions by the way) but they were not obliged to support their spouses. If feminism had been truly about equality, feminists would have fought to abolish conscription (or make it universal) and they would have fought to make the marriage laws gender neutral. Feminism has never been about equality, it has always been about equal rights in selected circumstances while maintaining privileges in others.

Why on Earth should I believe that? Right back as far as Seneca Falls and the Suffragettes, there is nothing to make me believe that feminism was anything other than a power grab. I'm not bothered about being insulted by feminists, I am opposed to a hate movement which continually demonises men by using terminology such as "the patriarchy" (which describes nothing), "toxic masculinity" (which insults men and then hides behind a smokescreen of re-definition), "mansplaining", "manspreading", "the wage gap" (which is not due to discrimination), "the glass ceiling" (another myth), "rape culture" (another lie) and so on.

White western women is the most privileged group of its size which has ever existed. And they persist in the lie that they are somehow discriminated against.

I ask you one question: find a single legal right that men have and women don't.

feminism is not about women supremacy, but gender equality.

Can you give me a single example where women reached parity with men and feminism said, "OK, we're stopping now. We're at equality, everyone go home"?

For a start, you can rule out:

Higher education - women are now 59% of university students, yet feminists still demand women-only programs, affirmative action and women-only scholarships, even at the same time as they bitterly oppose programs for men and men-only scholarships.
Criminal justice - men are given sentences that are 63% (23 months) longer than women's sentences for the same crime and with a similar criminal history. Feminists are, of course, not trying to close that particular gender gap. Instead, the only thing feminists are doing is campaigning to abolish prison for women entirely, thereby increasing the gender sentencing gap to infinity.

I can't think of a single case where feminism has stopped at equality. I don't even think it is possible, given the emotional drivers of that hate-fuelled ideology of faux victimhood.

I'm of the firm view that feminism is simply the lobby for women. Feminism endlessly works to gain ever more special benefits, privileges and advantages for women, while relieving women of responsibility for their actions, in every situation, all the time and without limitation.

If you've got a single shred of evidence to prove that I'm wrong, I would very much like to see it. I doubt you have though.

I never thought men were stupid. And neither should men think women are stupid or irrational we’re still just fighting at the end. The thing I wanted to point out is that I find it a shame that there is less criticism in r/feminism than in r/mensrights. Maybe it’s just the timing but saying that feminists are all misandrists is a direct hate towards women since a lot of them identify as feminists while having egalitarian views.

I feel like r/mensrights is just trying to "win" a fight that will never end (r/feminism too). If we just stopped pointing fingers at the other gender, we’d finally find something that looks more like equality, because now both parties argue that they have less rights and both don’t want to listen to the other one because both feel that they are more right than the other.

I also want to know if there’s a subreddit like r/mensrights but for women (that’s not r/feminism because apparently it’s bad).

Brought women together by feeling they’re not the only ones struggling with their complexes, they don’t have to shave to be pretty, they don’t have to wear bras if they find them uncomfortable and it’s okay, to stop feeling guilty when they don’t act like what society expects. Open up about the reality of pregnancy and childbirth and how it’s not as pretty as it seems. Not feel shamed for a decision about their body like getting an abortion. Talk about mental health problems and rape. That’s what I think feminism is about and a lot of other women think that as well. There will always be people who take things to the extreme sadly and take advantage.

I am not saying that men don’t experience some of these situations, but it’s nice to have a movement that helps opening up about these topics and feel less alone.
