They (both men and women) are trying to keep you confused, so you waste your time and energy trying to "get it right"... then they'll shame you for having wasted your time and energy trying to "get it right". People in general don't like seeing other people succeed.

One can wear designer clothes or build muscle etc. without the intention of following the herd, it just makes them less identifiable. I say, do whatever pleases yourself.

What's happened (IMO) is that those who hold those sentiments - as well as those of the other commenter - are the most outspoken, so anyone under the banner of MGTOW is going to be associated with those sentiments.

At the end of a bittersweet period: have been recovering from an intimate female interaction turned bad, but have accomplished my goal of moving into a nicer property.

I made a video a while ago called Knowing Your Role, very loosely addressing the "alpha"/"beta" narrative. There is such a thing as alpha and beta, and both are complimentary and necessary - one would be meaningless without the other. Unfortunately "alpha" and "beta" have been reduced to labels and shaming tactics, both relating to female approval.

To quote myself: "women aren't attracted to a man's confidence; they're attracted to their confidence in that man." The telltale sign is that there's no mention of what a man should be confident IN. Just this vague, intangible, binary, all-encompassing "confidence" Like "preference" and "swag", "confidence" is a label used to imply one thing, while meaning something completely different. I have confidence in my skills, both in my work and for hobbies, and neither have made any difference to how …

My immediate response would be, yes there are plenty of women, but how many are worth a damn? What's more important; having a woman for the sake of it, or having a good woman?

My answer would be, because reproducing is the only way such people [think they] can contribute to society.

I don't, but certainly in my teens and 20s it seemed like the only way to meet the opposite sex (outside of work and education). I never felt comfortable with going to these places, and those few times I did try to get involved it felt like I was being pushed out. Even general social events (which I'm more into) have been fashioned around going to night clubs - but I think this is slowly changing.

The idea of a man not chasing women for whatever reason, or somewhat content with being on his own, disturbs and scares the crap out of women and men alike. That's why they'll try to convince him there's something wrong with him, and to "get out there" and literally subject himself to crap in search of a "steak". It's not about him finding a woman at all, but setting him up to become disposable.

Not helped at all by hordes of other men insisting they spend so much time and money chasing women.

London, UK. From what I've seen it's a mixed bag: there's still bunch of lower-end workers from eastern Europe, but escorts in general have just become more expensive (mainly because monkey see, monkey do).

Vague elephant sh*t. If these are "laws" as is claimed, they would work regardless of whether anyone believes in/follows them or not.

Expose them as a) having no answer, b) having no conviction, c) being part of the problem. Anyone can leave a comment anonymously, and it's nothing special because they can run away from it and any responses it receives. It's a whole other thing to post a video, or have a weblog about one's views.

(Speaking as a content creator who doesn't show their face) It's so they can divert the conversation away from what they're actually saying, usually to put it on their physical appearance. Then their arguments become invalid because of their appearance, that they're "ugly", "look like they live in their mother's basement", "look like they haven't seen vajayjay", etc.

If someone immediately responds to the mention of MGTOW by claiming "you hate women" (true story), I think that says a lot about them.

I've always believed that it's better not to have loved and lost, particularly with the way I've been treated by women. Those who've had better experiences in general might say otherwise.

Mostly bad, particularly as there's no getting away from it now. Many think of porn in terms of the hardcore stuff, but look at how people in general are dressed now.

I've definitely found it to be the case, though I've seen more and more men sounding and acting like women, possibly in an effort to engage women in conversation.

Kudos to my current workplace, not one person mentioned it was V-Day today. There was one person parading a white rose [she'd bought herself], but that's it.

Sounds like hypoagency (if that is the correct term) to me. You made the right call in sending her packing, because tomorrow she'd tell you to get rid of something else.

From my own experience: individuality and intelligence. Being and thinking just like "everybody else" is what's prized most.

The main thing I don't like about Western culture is the idea of giving so much up - perhaps even one's soul - just to be part of it. It seems to be one endless "I'm better than you" contest, without actually being any better.

Similar to what Chill-BL stated: just because they don't call themselves feminist, doesn't mean they aren't. Women label themselves to control how others see them.

For the previous couple of years I kept a list of good things that happened throughout the year, as a reminder that things aren't as bad as I often think. Last year's list had almost 600 entries. Unfortunately I haven't started one for this year.

In that case, MGTOW status is defined by women.

Some people would have us believe, if you're not able to have or be intimate with a female, you're not MGTOW.

Some (including in this subreddit) would suggest it's the ability to be intimate with women that defines whether someone is MGTOW or not. I think there's scope for MGTOWs to date, provided he's careful about whom he dates.

IMO, women "sympathising" with MGTOW are simply practicing hypoagency... exactly what they did with the MRA.

One reason is that it's an easy way for people [who don't produce/contribute/accomplish anything] to have something over others.

As someone who has never even thought of uttering that term: if I ever hear someone say "man up", even in casual conversation, I have nothing to do with them from that point on.

Not sure if I could call myself a digital nomad (which IMO is just a buzzword at best, and the new self-help/motivational shtick at worst). However, I've been self-employed for around five years now, and in the last couple of years have taken to working out of coffee shops and hotel lobbies, with an emphasis on travelling, when I've not been contracting. To be honest it's no different to the usual routine of working on site, but I more or less got to dictate my own hours and working pace. And as…

I don't watch Dr. Who; have never been into the franchise. I don't mind that the newest doctor is female. I *do* mind that the fact the newest doctor is female has been shoved down our throats.

I had sex constantly held over my head as something I shouldn't be "allowed" to have, especially by females but by males as well. I went nuts (no pun intended) about not having this one thing that was supposedly so great, but was out of reach. And then, sometime in my mid-twenties, I'd finally experienced it. And... it was good, but not nearly as great as I was led to believe. I've since realised that I'm far more into foreplay than the act itself. While - like the OP - I'm not suggesting that s…

A question to people who agree with this post: how old were you when physical attraction stopped being enough? I'd like to think I broke out of the illusion at around 25, but it came after fully realising what women were capable of.
