When someone says "I'm not exactly religious, but I am spiritual", it makes me want to vomit.

Also "for all intents and purposes". And "Chakras", "Mindfulness", "Feng Shui" and "Self-care".

But perhaps the most infuriating is body-positivity jargon - where people perpetuate this ridiculous idea that everyone is perfect and beautiful just as they are. If everyone was beautiful, there wouldn't be any need for the word to ever exist. Being ugly or fat is just a reality for some. I don't understand why people have such a problem with that. I might be revolted by a morbidly obese sweaty land-whale sitting next to me on the plane, but I have absolutely no right to deny them basic human rights. I will never deny someone a job or a service or rental residence or anything like that based on their appearance. But I refuse to be forced into embracing them as beautiful and perfect.

So you're enormous and hideous, fine. That doesn't mean you can't be good at your job. That doesn't mean you're not a good parent. That doesn't mean you can't be rich. That has no implication on any other skills or talents you might have. Why can't you be satisfied with all the other traits you have? Why must you also DEMAND that the rest of the world redefines what attractiveness means to them? I'm not going to pretend that you're perfect just cause you took an intro to social justice class and decided to throw a hissy-fit and flap your eleven chins at me.

Look, I’m not against rape victims or anything, they go through a lot of shit and have to deal with depression and anxiety and a whole bunch of other ailments due to some fucked-in-the-head glue sniffer’s dumbass mistake.

But this phrase needs to fucking die. You’re not ending the problem of rape by believing literally any woman that blurts out that they’ve been raped. You’re unwittingly empowering psychos out there that would love to use this as a tool to get guys busted for god knows what reason.

Having spent some time around Christian fundamentalists, if i hear things like scriptural, biblical, god-centered, etc. I know to tune out and avoid them in the future.

If a person's faith influences them to live a moral life, that's great. But once it gets into the by-the-book mind control bullshit i know their brains are too zombified.

This didn’t happen to me, but a friend owns a landscaping business and was interviewing this 18 year old kid for entry level, unskilled job operating a leaf blower and a weed whacker. He asked the kid what he was expecting as a pay rate and he responded “a living wage”.

Yeah, I hate hearing incels and MGTOW types talking about cucks, white knights, blue pilled normies, Chads & Stacies, etc. I understand why they do it and what they mean by it all. I just think they utterly obliterate their own message and the actually rational sentiments they have to express. It's like inceltears say: these groups are too impressionable by the alt-right, that's why they copied most of their memes and lingo. If it had not been for that, we might have had people expressing actual legitimate talking points related to sexual / romantic isolation and men's difficulties in the dating game (that might lead some to go MGTOW). Kind of like what we do at GoodMenGoodValues. But these groups were not interested in presenting thoughtful, well-constructed points of views, empathetic reasoning or ethical alternatives and that's why we instead have all of this bullshit in the manosphere because there is nothing more stupid than a group of people.

A long time ago I came across some essay from Orwell (i think) talking about how using turns of phrase that other people have created constrains your thinking.

People who throw out these phrases as explanations for their opinions or actions are usually people I don't like to talk to. "Two birds with one stone!" "Better safe than sorry!" etc.

It's not necessarily that I disagree with anything they are saying rather that they speak so vaguely and mindlessly that it's like talking to a tape recording. It's lazy thought.
