My husband will not even get himself a bowl of cereal most of the time. He will literally wait an hour until I've finally got a free moment. And he gets pissy about it like I'm the sole person responsible for him eating. This will not change if you have a kid with him because it has not changed for me. If you're hoping he'll grow up and out of this, he won't. He's being very clear about his expectations and you're currently fulfilling them so any desire for change will be seen negatively. One of…

I'm a SAHM and I do all of the housework and not fun childcare. My husband works and then relaxes while I tend to his needs. Pre red pill I hated it but I'm learning to accept my gender role and not complain. He takes the trash out for me sometimes because it's hard for me to lift into the dumpster but other than that I don't ask. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling to get into a good rhythm to get everything done. I still haven't figured out how to keep the house clean while my husband i…

Going to chime in on chronic illness. Pay attention to the way they take about it. Is it their excuse to not do things or just something they have to deal with in their day to day life? This includes mental and physical illnesses. How often do they skip out on things and use their chronic illness as an excuse? Someone who is adept at handling the curve balls life throws at them will be able to ask for help when they need it.

It's not something I want long term. Even my most pleasant self walks on eggshells. Its just taken me until now to realize it is in fact more him than me. It's always been this way, he was really good at convincing me otherwise. But I still see so much of that good guy I did marry so it's hard to walk away.

He doesn't worship the guy but it's who he's turned to before when we've had problems. But I won't involve him. He's never hit me so there's no fear there. But he has no concept of when he's pushing me to the edge so in that regard it's dangerous. There's no addiction to remove at least. You're right though I can't see straight anymore. I see things out of the corners of my eyes sometimes so I know it's reaching some pretty dangerous levels of sleep deprivation. I'm out of my mind exhausted. I u…

I've always felt that his anger is out of proportion to the situation. In the past, I would say disrespectful things like calling him a hypocrite, while begging him to calm down. Obviously that wasn't working so now that my negativity has been removed from the situation we're left with his initial overreaction. I have to agree completely, even if I don't believe the fault lies fully with me, in order to keep him from going on a tirade. He'll normally say something to apologize afterwards but it'…

It's definitely not both ways. I may snap after an hour and yell back for a minute but that's only because I've been pushed to my limit. Most of the time I'm begging him to calm down so we can have a reasonable discussion. Moving out temporarily isn't an option as I have no family close by.

I thought marriage counseling was considered a negative thing in rp but I'll look into some around me. He's always had an anger problem but I think I'm only now noticing because I believed him that it was my fault. Rp has helped me sort out a lot of my life so far, if only I'd have found this place a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I date guys that treat me like my dad.

I've been wanting to re-read Surrendered Wife because I went through it so fast. I'm currently working through Fascinating Womanhoods secret #2 but would start over for a book club.

He's unfortunately too big for baby wearing but he's getting that toddler interest in helping with chores so getting stuff done isn't too hard. I'm going to try your suggestion for talking to him about it. Thanks!

Co sleeping didn't work for us because my son is a light sleeper. Either you shift in bed and he wakes up our you'd never move and wake up stiff lol. Really bums me out too. I do breastfeed so I do need to get up through the night and I like my husband to have that uninterrupted sleep for work too. Reading your comment made me sad. My husband doesn't have any time or activity set aside for him and the baby to bond.

What would you suggest for bringing this up? I know surrendered wife talks about telling him your emotional need and backing off after but I haven't been consistently successful with that yet. I find I have to plan my words carefully in advance so I don't say the wrong thing. I would like to articulate to him that I need a day to sleep in a little. Honestly one day a month would be enough. It's having some break to look forward to that I need. But I've never said it right in the past so it come …

Lol I did get a little worried for a second that I came off as only whining about my husband. It definitely is a season of highs and lows! The holiday stress can add to insomnia so it's the perfect time to up my self care.

I'm definitely not looking to leave and I apologize if it came off that way. I also didn't mean to sound like I don't want to do the nighttime wake ups. I'm 100% ok with it, I just miss sleeping in occasionally. I'm very glad that he gets the sleep he needs and don't want that to change. I try my hardest to make sure he's not interrupted actually. I never thought about laying down as just winding down. Resting has a success or failure idea attached which is probably part of my problem. Thank you…
