3	Permanent support Well it depends on where you live and how long you have been married. It’s more common in long term marriages where the wife has been a SAHM for many years. The courts look at it as her staying home with the kids not only enabled you to work and earn more money, but also greatly hurt her chances of advancing her career. And if she is 50+ at time of divorce, she becomes less employable.
