Actually "believe" is a useless word. So, don't use it. Say, "think X is true". Because that's what is happening when you "believe" something. Whether "X" is actually, defensibly true is open to question, but you don't get to skip the steps in determining that by saying "It's 'belief'!", ergo, not true by definition, whereas your own notions are "knowledge", therefore true, again by definition.

As I once heard, parents that refuse to discipline their children do it because they want to live without discipline themselves. The thing about kids is, they are the same sort of beings as yourself. If you haven't dealt with your own issues, you will see them reflected back at you (and magnified) in the kids.
