Honestly, it has taught me that some people are just beyond help, and that no one will make their life better without wanting to change first. You will always be best helping out IRL people in your life who need it rather than an avatar on a screen, and you might actually do some good by engaging IRL, unlike here. I joined this sub to engage in issues I find interesting and important. What I found was people who wallow in self pity, have a highly overestimated ideas of their own intellectual pro…

Yeah C.. believe it or not this has actually happened to me. I totally understood where she was coming from and wished her well. Was it a nice experience? Nah, or course not. Is it just how things go sometimes though. We reconnected a few years later after she found a guy of her own. Things are fine now. We’re not as close as we were then but I think it was part of the closeness that fucked her up a bit. Definitely don’t feel like she betrayed me or anything. I tried my best to treat her with co…

Thanks for this answer, really good stuff.. so much over the top negativity here camouflaged as ‘logic’. It’s nice to see that there are some people who can still look at things objectively.❤️🎄
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/23 03:58 PM

Also, I’ve never heard the term ‘heteropessimism’ before. I like that concept, think it has some pretty strong explanatory power. Gonna steal it if ya don’t mind.🤙🏻👍🏻
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 08:34 PM

Well man, not sure if you personally need to hear it but your pain is valid. You are not less than. And you can make great things happen in your life if you try. The world is tough and unfair and often is not a hospitable place. Don’t let that fact keep you from being the best version of yourself❤️ This goes for the rest of you too!
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 08:29 PM

Yeah I totally agree. Which is why the blaming of women/society and the general pessimism of a lot of dudes bothers me so much.. it’s like bruh. You’re so close. I like the potential solutions that you have laid out too. Third places are so important and in fact the loss of them is something I’ve seen lamented a lot on both the right and the left. I think it could be a powerful place to start and make changes, and one which could probably get a lot of buy in. I think the issue would be more abou…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 08:23 PM

Yeah, sometimes life just sucks and you will not succeed. It’s an unfortunate reality of living on earth. I don’t think however this means we can offload our problems onto others or throw up our hands and stop trying. Because momentum is important. If you are pushing towards something every day you will be much more likely to succeed, even if it’s years down the road, than if you just wallow in your bad luck. And to blame others or society for your bad luck is just an intellectualized way of giv…

I’m glad my friend. This is why I take the time to make these stupid comments (also to procrastinate from work, ofc). I have three major things that really helped me out. They may not work for you but thinking about them might be a good place to start: Start doing an activity on a regular basis that allows you to see improvements in your skills and abilities. This allows for you to build confidence in a way that was not directly related to romance and dating. For me, I decided to start to learn …
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 05:52 PM

Yeah man, I was the exact same for so many years. It was such a miserable time for me and it actually makes me so sad to see so many dudes falling into r his trap. I think the main character syndrome is unfortunately very real in a lot of these cases. And I also think that unfortunately people who have it need to be hit with reality before they can change. And you’re totally right that the media narratives are only reinforcing this (especially now with social media). This is why sometimes I migh…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 05:35 PM

One of the most powerful and memorable things that have happened to me in the last few years was so simple. I was standing at a traffic light waiting to cross and a dude watch’s up beside me. He looks me up and down, gives a little nod and just said ‘Like your fit bro, looking good.’ And walked away. I didn’t realize how hearing something like that from another man would be so nice for me. I always try and give dudes who are looking good compliments now. If the issue is building up our fellow br…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 05:21 PM

I don’t really have anything to add, I think this is all very true and a good way of thinking about it. I like your comment about the ‘unsexy gender’, because this has always been something I am jealous of. How nice would it be to feel sexy on a regular basis, eh? I suppose we are just approaching the issue from different places, you being more high level/theoretical and me being more day to day/practical. Im interested, what do you think is the best way to push for these conversations to occur …
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 04:57 PM

Hmm. I will grant you that maybe being ‘fun’ isn’t a great way of talking about this. Maybe rather than ‘fun’ it’s more about general pleasantness. But to answer your question I think that the way women are socialized they are more likely to be thinking about their place in a social group and how to use their social skills to gain advantage in a situation. Men are socialized to be results driven and I think this sometimes makes deeply understanding non quantifiable things like social interaction…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 04:21 PM

Yeah I can get behind that. And I do think it would be overall beneficial for everyone involved if women made the approach more. It would both give men the validation they need and also allow women to be less apprehensive about romance because they are in the drivers seat. It just baffles me how some people are unable to understand that to get attention from women, you have to be WORTH giving attention to. And is the dude who is clearly angry and contemptuous of women worth their time and attent…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 03:52 PM

Don’t take this as a criticism, I’m genuinely interested and don’t understand where you and a lot of people with this sort of worldview are coming from. What do you want/expect women to do? For real, think about it. Should they abandon their standards and self respect so virgins can get laid? It really feels like posts like these take a really unrealistic view not just on women, but on people in general. Relationships and romantic partnerships that are long term and require daily work. If you fi…

Not married yet but I say partner instead of girlfriend because it seems to carry more weight. We have been living together for years, share financial burdens, have pets together etc.. Girlfriend as a term just doesn’t seem to capture the nature of our relationship. Having said that when we are married I’ll probably say wife.

When I first started dating my fiancé she made a lot more than me. Things have changed now but it was critical for both of us at the time. We are both well educated and have similar levels of professional experience. If I didn’t have her support at that time in my life I would not be able to provide what I can now. Things can change a lot, especially in this economy, and I think a huge part being part of a successful partnership you need to put ego aside and work as a team on financial matters. …

Omg I’m sorry Ive been thinking about this all afternoon.. so well done OP, you have exerted your power over me.🤙🏻🤙🏻 maybe we should date😘 I would love to know the age of this person and whether or not they have ever been in an actual relationship. It reads almost exactly like something I would have said after watching house or cards in 2016 when I had no real experience with women. I don’t think anyone who has any real experience with dating and relationships is listening to this but if you are…

I appreciate you actually answering the question lol. I think placing priority on different things is an important part of the distinction. I think a lot of RP dudes put their full self worth on their sexual success and that is just not as common for BP dudes. Am I think that the direct nature of that goes against of what a lot of RP guys imagine it to be on the other side. I’m interested, do you actually perceive yourself as BP?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 05:15 PM

I feel you deeply my dude. Do you see a way of reconciling this in public discourse?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 05:06 PM
1

Yeah, I see it as more of a holistic way of looking at the world too. In my mind it is closely associated with online leftism as well. Is that connection valid to you? Do you think there is room in the online left for these conversations about dating and sex?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 04:57 PM
1

I agree that the ‘blue pill’ only really exists as a opposition online to something that has seen a lot of hyper focus on leftist spaces online over the past 2 or so years. I also recognize that there is a tendency amongst a lot of left people to dismiss the idea of goals based dating and sex with concrete success markers as a whole. I do think however this means that anyone looking for dating advice online is just going to get caught up with RP stuff. Do you think that giving advice on sex and …

So in your mind they aren’t really having the same conversation. Care to elaborate?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 04:49 PM

Interestingly, this is a similar answer to what a lot of RP people said, minus the overt ideology. Self improvement, understanding one’s flaws and learning are all present in a lot of peoples understanding of RP shot. I’m interested if you actually perceive yourself as blue pill in and of itself or just as a way to distinguish yourself from RP. Any thoughts?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 04:47 PM
2

So for you then is it safe to say it was a mix of confidence building and practice makes perfect? And not thinking in ideological terms?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 04:44 PM
1

I totally agrees but think that is sort of the issue, and the main reason so many people get into RP shit. So many young men struggle with these issues surrounding sex and dating and are looking for concrete tips for self improvement. ‘Be yourself’ and ‘be nice’ are not actually pieces of advice, they are platitudes. My mom, grandma, 90s movies etc told me the same thing. A lot of these young guys don’t even know what ‘being themselves’ means yet so if there is someone giving you concrete tips t…

A trailblazer, thanks for the reply🤙🏻. As someone who is old enough to have seen the movement progress I’d love to hear your thoughts on how it has developed and changed over time, and the state of it on the modern internet. Any thoughts?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/23 08:49 PM

Confidence is key for sure.. so in your mind is it sometimes a numbers game and RP stuff helps maximize chances? Eh put as many lures in the water knowing a fish will eventually bite one?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/23 08:46 PM

Congrats on becoming hot homie. You win🤙🏻 I think tangible goals and concrete waypoints on the way to self improvement is hugely valuable and something that the other side just isn’t able to meet

Abs has the understanding helped the outcome?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/23 06:04 PM

So would it be safe to say it gives you the analytical frameworks to know what it is you really want?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/23 05:57 PM

I feel as though living life through the lens of ideology is always a net negative on someone’s life, regardless of the ideology. It’s important for building the baseline for thoughts and ideas about the world but over reliance on overtly ideological thought processes keeps you from seeing the forest for the trees. Thanks for the reply🤙🏻👍🏻

Specific girls you liked (eg people you know and we’re interested in pursuing romantically) or girls in general (eg a hot girl you met at a bar once)?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/23 05:04 PM

So is what you’re saying that it gives people real world avenues and vectors for self improvement that are concrete and easy to grasp and thus work towards?

Dont necessarily agree with all of this. Blaming men solely for their loneliness feels reductive and tbh needlessly cruel. But this post does make a good point that I think is important for especially young men to thing about. I think you are spot on about the fact that sex in and of itself (casual or otherwise) is not going to help with loneliness as it is a quick high, and that mens constant focus on it does not help matters for them. I know a lot of people (especially young men) will respond …

Im less knowledgeable about Celtic stuff but I really love that quote, going to do some more reading. Any recommendations? I actually think pre-Christian spiritual practice has so much to offer the gender wars and debates. It often both acknowledges the reality of gender and it’s importance as building blocks in our world but also is more more fluid and allows for a deeper integration between the masculine and the feminine, especially within a single person. I think the secularization of gender …

I know many will roll their eyes at this, but my definitions of masculinity and feminity are rooted in my spiritual understand of the terms, based in magic, Neoplatonic philosophy and hermeticism. In this, masculinity is anything that is ‘directive’, that pushes energy towards something to produce and outcome. The feminine is that which is receptive and creative, that takes in energy and inputs to create, either in the physical world or as a state of being. The classic example of this is the sun…
