Often, they also can't think for themselves. They're ready to jump on the bandwagon with the next "cool thing to support" instead of making their own decisions. Avoid avoid avoid

I'm reading some of your comments and wanted to ask: is it possible that you're getting attached too quickly? When I was your age (so 4 years ago), a lot of guys were not ready to be serious with me. I could not find the level of commitment I was looking for, until I met my husband. Men in their twenties are less mature than women. Don't get attached to them quickly, or you risk hurting yourself. Only give as much as you take, nothing more, until you have both decided to commit to a relationship…

Something I've done in the last 5 years is to "delete" (soft delete) personal social media. I am a big fan of reddit, personally, because at the end of the day I don't know commenters personally and couldn't care less what they think/say. On the other hand, Facebook and Instagram made me self-conscious and I was constantly asking myself some of the questions you posted. I was subjecting myself to comparisons against other women or listening to the garbage coming out from some people's feeds. I s…

I was 20 six years ago and I graduated from a liberal arts program with CS as one of my two majors. One tip for you is to draw the work-life balance; I made it clear to my lead that I am high-functioning when I get sufficient family time, not when I am overworked. I work as a software engineer at FB. Next, 20 is still young! I don't want to diminish your experiences, that is not my intention. When I was 20, I had only ever dated 2 people. It's harder to go on dates during the pandemic, but parti…

This. And beauty is not made equal. My mom did not bullshit me that everyone is "beautiful in their own way", but there are definitely ways I can improve myself.

Perhaps it would help if you spend some time drawing out a venn diagram of things he actually wants vs. things you want to do for him? And pick 1 thing that intersects?

One thing that I've heard from non-RP groups is that men can be as mature as women in their early adulthood. And honestly, I have never known this to be the case. He sounds like he still has some responsibilities to figure out and go "grow up" to be more serious about a relationship with you. When I started university, I always dated 2-3 years older because I was facing similar issues. Anyways, good on you for sticking up for yourself!

One takeaway for me was that doting, especially if you're doing things for him that he doesn't like, isn't the right way to go. Being thoughtful is; this can be something small like planning a date at his favourite restaurant. But personalizing your attention as opposed to doting for the sake of doting is more important :)

I don't think so, though. Maybe you're reading into my comment the wrong way and I apologise for that, I'm francophone. But it's pretty normal to talk to your customers and regulars, especially at a student bar. This was a university-crowd bar where I was way older than the regular bar-goer (I'm an older student and my customers were 18-24, since 18 is the drinking age in Quebec). I just happened to be the only female bartender and my tips were way higher. I wasn't trying to creep on guys that w…

I can empathize a bit. My husband was wary that I was a bartender for all of university, up until Covid-19. Some context: I'm turning 25 and studied part-time while interning at tech companies. Bartending wasn't a full-time job, but it made him very uncomfortable. I would dress up and talk to other guys, which was part of my job, and he felt betrayed that I'd use my feminism to get more tips. But obviously, these tips supported HIM when he lost his job during Covid! We needed to share our feelin…

I think diet is key here. Not just for your weight, but also for overall energy (so you can do more during the day and focus on your well-being) and for your skin. You'd be surprised how many women have sallow-looking skin because they eat crap.

For me, I had sex after 2 weeks of casual dating. I'm not sure if this is "too soon" in reality, but it's the first time I had sex with a guy before seriously dating. And also the first time I had sex with a guy before dating for a few months. Honestly, I don't think it changed anything and maybe I should have had sex sooner in previous relationships.

Actually, Uniqlo's parent company is Fast Retailing, and all of their brands are either Japanese or French! I shopped a lot at https://www.comptoirdescotonniers.com/ when I did an exchange semester in Paris for university. I feel like some of Uniqlo's styles are definitely borrowed from Comptoir, but way cheaper.

Needlework is so underappreciated; some tears and wears are easily fixed with a needle and thread, and I know lots of women who don't even have a small kit (let alone a sewing machine lol). Props to all of the women who are great with needlework, I've recently started stitching characters from Totoro and it's really challenging!

On dating sites, guys might chat up several women but there is often a "priority" in terms of ordering. We're well into the holidays, I would not be surprised if guys already have a few women they prioritize over you, a new match. Also, it's hard for some women to look attractive in photos: lighting, makeup, clothes, angles, smiling, etc, these all play into it. Do you have any guy or girlfriends you could ask to look over your profile? Ask for honesty. You should also consider swiping right on …

THIS. Coupled with the stupid initiatives like "women in engineering" with special programming (social hours, guest speakers, mentor/mentee bonding, etc) that we "should attend together". Makes me look bad for not wanting to mentor her and leaving her to a male mentor (God forbid!) that POTENTIALLY wants to manipulate her (and let's be real, the MeToo movement goes both ways, women are not always victims)... I'm so fed up lol. I feel like I only get recognition/bonuses/promotions if I'm a "super…

I do work for a big tech company, but I'm remote from Canada. Unfortunately, the hiring process is broken (people refer their friends and tell them exactly what the interviewers will ask) and this lends itself to non-meritocratic hiring practices. I will definitely be looking for a new job in the new year. Best time to start looking is when you just got promoted!

Thank you for this advice! I only recently started documenting her behaviour, unfortunately, so I have less than 2 weeks of evidence. I should have been more proactive in doing this because I need to protect myself, too. I wish the higher-ups at my job shared your sentiments!

This is solid advice, hopefully one day I'll leave the corporate world (big tech) too. I'm in a tough situation right now because I'm supporting both of us (partner is still unemployed due to Covid). What is your favourite thing(s) about your other jobs?

I'm with you; I'm currently supporting myself and my husband because he's unemployed due to Covid (and I'm a software engineer at a big tech company). I know that this life is not something I want to live forever. And he knows it too. There is no standard RP lifestyle you have to adhere to!

Is it just me, or is the woman doing exactly the opposite of what she is saying? I think her dialogue is extremely harmful to be honest.

You're lucky then, I live in Quebec, Canada and I doubt even the top 5% have those traits... Unfortunately, obesity is plaguing North America and it has only been exacerbated by the pandemic. But I digress...

My husband and I have a closed-door policy during work hours: we have our offices in separate rooms and only hang out at lunch time. Otherwise, the door stays closed from 9-4. In addition, I've started reading books in English and using reddit primarily in English to improve my language skills. Reading 50 pages often takes me 1-2 hours of quiet time!
/r/RedPillWomen02/12/20 07:40 PM

My current work environment is toxic, so my goal is to use the holiday downtime to send out 2 job applications per day in hopes of finding a new job.

I relate a lot, I'm quite tall myself (176cm) and I have never dated men shorter than me. I think it's perfectly normal to recognise these preferences. But also to recognize that the threshold isn't 100% clear... For example, a man who is 160cm might be a deal breaker, but someone around the same height or 2cm shorter is alright. I try to be more flexible on the "boundary" and meet new people and engage with them; you never know when you'll find a guy with a great personality to match!

I graduated from university myself not long ago, and here's what I found helpful. I would agree to a study date where he helps you learn the material or go through examples from lectures / practice exercises. This is more engaging and you won't feel pressured to work on the assignment to "get it done" asap. I've had guys offer to do my homework, and usually I counter with "could you help me understand (insert topic) by reviewing (material) with me over coffee?". Don't actually do the project wit…

Not exactly the same, but I really don't date men with a similar upbringing. For some context, I'm French-Canadian and from a smaller town where nobody speaks English. I love my family and my community, but I'd go crazy living in rural Quebec my entire life. And a lot of men where I'm from hate English-speakers, hate English-Canadians, and don't want to live in a city like Montreal. I get that opposites attract, but there are just too many different lifestyle preferences and political issues tha…

I watched a k-drama recently and it was everything I had hoped for: slow-building romance instead of lust. And it was so heartfelt I ended up crying every episode at some point.

I would agree with the other comment. But also to add my two cents, many young men that I met at university were unattractive (at least I thought so) because they were so immature. I only met my husband through working at the same company during school. We were both students at the time, but working to support ourselves. So I guess I didn't spend my early twenties "looking for romance", but rather it was a coincidence. I've noticed myself finding other men more attractive in the workplace than I…

No way - my husband is currently unemployed, but I know he is actively looking for work and tutoring university students on the side right now to bring in extra income. We are a team. If either of us tried to damage the relationship intentionally (like cheating, refusing to provide for the other, etc), I would not be able to handle it.

Wow, that's great! It's easier to learn French when you're young, so growing up in a bilingual household is wonderful. If you don't mind me asking, do you also speak some french?

This is a great question! I actually don't think many Quebec families speak enough english to teach their children, so we watch TV/go to english CEGEP/university. English is used more day-to-day and big cities like Montreal are becoming very anglophone, so I think this is the main reason that the proportion of english to french is increasing. There are actually a lot of allophones too, people who speak a different mother tongue than english or french. This topic is heavily politicised where I'm …

This is actually what I'm scared about :( I've had people say "you can have it all" but they don't understand what it's like to work as a woman in big tech. I'm the only female on my team and everyone else is able to work odd hours or overtime, something I cannot do with children. It's NOT easy to find well-paying, part-time contract work, at least not something that compares to working for a company like Facebook. There are no certifications that GUARANTEE a job. I don't want to work part-time;…

Thank you for your support! We have spoken about this many times, and I think we are fence-sitting... The pandemic has made it pretty difficult for my husband, too. I want to be prepared because we are not saving much money, and definitely not enough to support a child. I think part of it is an inner dilemma because deep down, I don't think it's wise to have children, but I really want a child one day. I'm experience a lot of inner conflicts like this because I'm far away from my family and my h…

Like more red-pill, traditional, etc... Most of us are descendants of french settlers from the 16th-17th century, very few people speak English as a mother tongue language. And I think like 90% of us are Roman Catholic. Younger people like myself often go to bigger cities or go out-of-province to 1) Learn English 2) Go to university. But my parents, for example, don't speak English (they understand a little bit though).

This is great advice, thank you! We have spoken about it any times, and the consensus is to wait until we're in our thirties. Unfortunately, he has been unemployed for nearly a year because oil/gas isn't doing well in Canada, so we're living on a single income. He has a bit of student debt because he studied out of province, but I'm debt-free because university is almost free here. We haven't been able to live on a double income yet, since I was finishing my degree when he was employed... I will…

Exactly! I've been fencesitting for a while and but after thinking about it, it doesn't feel right to not have children in the future, even if it's only one... I'm not in any rush though.

I am a part-time student myself (working full-time), and found my school's personal finance course to be a good starting point: https://mcgillpersonalfinance.com/ (it's open to everyone!) Following this, I agree with the other comment about Dave Ramsey. I also read "The Wealthy Renter" since I live alone and rent a place.

I tend to agree with you: one type of strength that comes to mind is independence, especially financial independence. I'm not bothering with guys that still live with their parents/don't pay their own bills and can't cook/clean because it's not my job to teach them how to be a responsible adult. On the other hand, I'd argue that it takes quite a bit of strength to be caring or vulnerable these days. We perpetuate the idea that men shouldn't be vulnérable or weak, and a lot of men have to break d…
