This was all over the news here when it first came out that she had made a false accusation. Back then people were going on about how she wouldn't be going to jail. She's now been sentenced to 9 months jail, with a non-parole period of 5 months. It's not that rare. People mature, physically, at different rates. My wife is quite heavily involved in coaching girls sport of varying ages and you would honestly be amazed at the actual age of some of them. I also remember being in highschool, some of the guys could easily pass for 18 at 14/15 (generally the very athletic ones heavily into sport). It goes the other way too. Sort of. It also covers the "omg he touched my boobs without consent", since that's where CPR is going to be performed but it's not going to protect people if they decide to fuck an unconcious person. As long as you render first aid the cops are far more likely to take your word over theirs (and it's exceptionally unlikely that someone is going to make up a claim after you've literally saved their life). As with anything though, witnesses are a positive!

Sure, they'd lose in court in every way -- but that Google search is piss in a pool once an accusation is made. That's the thing, the accusations do not make it to court. Police may investigate, but as long as you're qualified to provide first aid they won't charge you (especially if there's a witness to the events).

Australia has a 'good samaritan' law, which essentially means that if you render first aid to someone you cannot be sued. As a qualified first aider I have no issue performing CPR on women/children/whatever thanks to this. I understand it's different in America though, which definitely sucks.
