I know you're being kind, but I don't think anyone could understand how hard this guy worked. When I say he trained like an olympic athlete, I mean that. He was surrounded by coaches, he had sponsors, he was training from sunrise to sunset six days a week. How do you work twice as hard as he did? That's not possible.

He was a great man, and he made it farther than I've ever made it in anything. He won titles, just not the ones that mattered to him. He made it to that level where people could tell he was taking it seriously, training all day every day religiously, but he never made it far enough to prove himself to himself, or to make all the time he spent worth it. On the one hand he loved what he did, but on the other hand it was difficult and I know in the end he was constantly asking "What does it mean if…

In its own way that was a beautifully written comment, but it wasn't very hopeful. Sounds like life gets accumulatively worse as everything you love or believe in dies and you're riddled with more and more scars as reminders. What's the part you're supposed to look forward to?

Thank you. I don't plan to do drugs or drink. I know neither of those things are real solutions, and they don't make the pain go away, or change your fate.

That is an interesting thought. I feel like oneitis for a woman is different from passion for a craft. If we can't have either, what are we really doing in life? There has to be something we're devoting ourselves to. Otherwise I feel like we're just wandering around sampling shit in some shallow effort to avoid boredom until we die.

Honestly? As a private investor, your best chances of getting a positive return are indexes. They're not sexy or exciting, but the truth is there isn't and has never been an effective method of predicting the market based on systems or statistics. All the best investors like Warren Buffet pour over stacks of yearly returns and accounting information for a company, and then if they like what they see on paper, they go and meet the CEO's and tour the locations, etc. You don't have that option avai…

You shouldn't lift every day because your body needs time to recover and grow. If you chose to split the muscle groups up even more you could technically lift more days of the week, and there are programs for intermediate and advanced athletes where you lift more often, but for the sake of simplicity I highly recommend sticking to a basic full body program for the first 6 months. You can increase the volume as you get stronger and your conditioning improves, then when your workouts are taking lo…

Didn't start really paying attention to my diet and fitness until I found TRP and took charge of my life at 26. Of course by then all my growing hormones are basically done. I can be a strong skinny guy but that's about it. It's good you chose to work toward it anyways. I tend to think people can achieve far more than they expect when they're being critical of themselves, but if all you can achieve is a 5 and you're a 3 now, why not become a 5? Isn't 5 better than 3? Too many people will use tha…

Thank you for the response, and participating in the AMA. Your videos do a great service to MRA, and you are very talented. Honestly. I do find you slightly too optimistic, but I have no desire to crush that optimism. I believe the difference between speaking about biology and speaking about human beings is similar to statistics and outliers. Biology is a broad stroke. It's not inaccurate to say that labrador retrievers are easier to train than bulldogs, but I guarantee you could find an excepti…

I can certainly relate to the desire to see human beings as more than bio-machines obeying our conditioned programming, but if that's not the conclusion research points to with confidence, I have made a considerable error. I'll try again to re-word my question in a manner more appropriately suited to the AMA context. Do you believe that men and women can ever learn to fully appreciate each other, or will the chasm only expand as we discover just how different our needs and goals really are?

Male feminists, based on my own observations, appear to be treated by women as disposable henchmen who are otherwise undesirable. Female men's rights activists, on the other hand, seem to be celebrated as the ideal, or saints, by men. This leads me to believe that the male-female divide goes deeper than just semantics like defining equality or fairness, and is actually rooted in evolutionary-psychology. Can you comment on theoretically inherited female qualities, like hypergamy, and whether or n…

Likewise, thank you for your well thought out and cordial reply. To avoid an endless stream of unnecessary information, I'm going to cut to the few points that I feel really matter, and then I would absolutely love to invite you to prove to me that the Buddha knew what he was talking about. This can be done in private if you accept my challenge. My first response is to what I see as a possible contradiction in your logic. Originally you say: The feeling of emptiness isn't a big deal. This was a thoughtful post, and I enjoyed reading it because it deals with a topic that is on my mind as of late. I'm going to critique it, but keep in mind that is not an attack on you or the post. You shared your thoughts on the subject and I'd like to share mine in return. First, I don't believe the East or the West have the proper understanding of emptiness. The East tends to over-spiritualize everything and assume it must be beautiful, which is itself a prejudice that interferes with learni…

Thanks man. I've come to the conclusion that the hardest part for most men is being stuck in a situation where they have too much time and too few projects that feel productive and meaningful. When you have no job, no friends, no hobbies, your biology's answer to boredom and loneliness is to go hunt for sex. Immediate gratification, which is why porn becomes so addictive. If people only knew how rewarding having a real job can be when you feel like what you're doing is increasing your value and …

Honestly, I think this article is all you need to read on discpline. Beyond that, the very act of reading more about discipline is somewhat contradictory to the artform itself. It would be better to apply it by doing the things that need to be done rather than perpetually learning more about them in place of doing them.

I think you may lack a complete understanding of the computational theory of the mind, but that isn't really what's important here. I agree that stress and struggle, the grind as you call it, are essential to personal growth and the human experience.

Yeah, I could see how someone might perceive my post as concern trolling, however my actual intent is to understand what MGTOW really is. The fact that I think the quality of posts is low is the reason I have to ask. You can not tell what MGTOW is simply from reading the sidebar (which is a mix of Red Pill stuff and random prose, or a wikipedia about islands) or the posts on the front page. That does suggest to me an identity crisis, but considering I am not a part of MGTOW, simply investigating…

What are the primary methods and techniques you use to maintain happiness without a LTR? What were the primary sources you used to discover these methods? And do you still enjoy sleeping with and being around women, or have you essentially removed them from your life completely?

Pretty much what I was going to say, except I disagree with how to respond afterwards. If you don't want to hold her hand, don't give some generic passive-aggressive excuse. Just tell her you don't want to hold her hand. If she asks why, which I bet she will, then tell her why. If you like holding hands, then no, it's not beta to hold her hand, but it sounds like you don't appreciate her making you hold her hand. In that case, if you hold her hand when you don't want to because she's making you,…

Yeah, but the second you put your fate in the hands of the law, you let it slip out of your own hands. I would never willingly do so, even if I am supposedly in the 'right'. Just look at divorce court for examples of how just the justice system is. I like the country song quote.

Don't start what you can't finish, pretty simple axiom that applies to everything of value in life. I mean you can start a sandwich you aren't going to finish if you really want to, but as far as confrontations go, you didn't have an exit strategy and you didn't know what you were going to do. You just let your emotions control you and your ego took you down a path you weren't familiar with. You have to accept that being a man isn't about proving yourself in combat anymore. Would be interested in hearing more about your thoughts on what true happiness or fulfillment are, especially related to the human male. I don't believe a theory of perfect fulfillment can exist, but something to work toward that makes sense would benefit us all. Maslow's hierarchy of needs seemed to be heading in the right direction, but it's not male-specific, and it's too vague. It offers little to actually build on in our actual lives, beyond just a nod of "That makes sense, but how do I app…

Even the invention of the automobile only goes back so far. You can go back pretty far with TRP, which mostly originates from PUA from what I can tell, based largely on The Rational Male and common sense. Who invented the wheel? Who first mined and refined metal? Who discovered the laws of motion? At some point I think you end up with a picture of adaptation in tiny stages that eventually leads to a particular tool we consider sacred, but in reality is just a point on the surface of the wheel th…

I think that's an optimistic outlook on how that would go down. More likely droids would be outlawed or something along those lines in order to protect women. Maybe they'd be classified as a drug because men would be addicted. Who knows, but don't underestimate your opponent and assume things would happen the way you want them to.

I agree with the sum of your statements. It all comes down to personal fulfillment, and vitamin P can only ever be one small piece of that puzzle. I believe addictions are formed when a person attempts to satisfy unrelated emotional, intellectual, and physical needs through inappropriate mediums. Like trying to experience a deeper connection through sex, accept yourself through the approval of women, or distract yourself from other failures in life with temporary pleasure that doesn't solve the …

I would take a functional and realistic android over a woman any day of the year. It's funny because I actually came to this conclusion days ago and have been pondering the deeper meaning of what that really says about me, men, sex, women, and nature. My answer thus far has essentially been that what we want is not another person, what we want is the fulfillment of our own destiny as we perceive it. For me, the value of a relationship actually goes down as the level of uncertainty rises, so a hu…

I think you have to make a distinction between origins and popularization. For example, the red pill REALLY started with the film The Matrix, but what I'm really getting at is that there is no specific origin because the ideas, whether specifically relating to PUA, MGTOW, TRP, MRA, etc. Have all existed in many forms for many generations. It's kind of like asking "Who invented the automobile?" You could list the inventors of each individual parts and then the engineers who started putting them t…

Please don't starve yourself for 4 months. Diet and exercise. Restrict calories to 500 less than you burn per day and you will lose 1lbs per week. 1000 calories less and you lose 2lbs per week. Any more than that is considered unsafe to lose all at once without medical supervision. Fasts are also considered medically unsafe without supervision, and even with supervision usually only last 1 month, not 4. It's impressive you've achieved what you have by your early 40's. The key to weight loss is diet. The simplest way to put it is, eat fewer calories than you burn and you will lose weight. Safely, you should be able to lose about 1-2lbs per week if you eat 500-1000 calories less than you burn per day. Most people can do a 500 calorie daily deficit with minimal complaint. Check with your doctor before you start a diet or exercise plan since you have severe heart issues. To help you lose fat, you c…

With that in mind, people are drawn to fun, positive, entertaining things & there's no shortage of research that happy people perform better in almost every biological metric. If both mindsets could be false, the pick should be for benefit. You'd have to ask yourself what 'happiness' means in a research setting. In global politics 'happiness' is often defined as people who are least likely to complain because all basic needs are met. Individually, 'happiness' is usually a state of always looking…

I'm going to take a position that is slightly opposed to /u/AFPJ, but want to mention that I respect him and what he had to say. I don't think you're being honest, since you didn't even bother to directly respond to whether or not you are on drugs, but as someone who knows a thing or two about fitness I will absolutely second /u/AFPJ's statement that you did not gain 25lbs of pure muscle at 8% body fat in 5 months. You either bulked, in which case you could gain 25-50lbs but you'd be nowhere near 8% body fat and it wouldn't be purely muscle, or you were doing some form of lean gains which works alright for beginners but d…

There are really only two theories here. Create a continuum of loneliness, at one end you're surrounded by engaged and connected people. On the other end you're alone in the void of space. Create markers at every stage of the continuum so that you can always work toward the 'less alone' end. Such as distractions (i.e. movies), places you can go to be around people even if you aren't engaging them (i.e. gym, restaurant, theater) so on and so forth. Accept that loneliness is the default state of l…

I don't recommend lowering your carbs, or your total calories, down that low right now. Low carbs are just going to make it harder for your body to recover from workouts, so you'll be putting your body in a stressful state of overtraining, which may result in your body wanting to decrease metabolism, catabolize your muscles, and store more fat. I'll be honest, my knowledge of weight loss is pretty basic. I really think you need to talk to your doctor, or hire a professional like a registered die…

I don't know what an ideal TRP society would look like, nor do I know what impact it would have on transgenderism. What I do know is that someone saying they are a gay female trapped in a male's body is about as scientific to me as someone saying they are Queen Cleopatra reincarnated.

I absolutely believe the explosive popularity of transgenderism is directly linked to the feminization of men by society and the empowering of women. If you are in a marketplace where A is more valuable than B, and you have the option of switching from B to A, many people will take that opportunity. However, it's a very controversial position to take because you have to consider the many theories out there about the neuroscience behind transgenderism, hormonal imbalances, brain topology and shap…

Everything in life pretty much comes down to two simple formulas. Theory + Plan + Practice = Growth Never, ever, ever stop growing Theory comes primarily from reading and listening to people who have achieved what you want to achieve Once you have the knowledge, write it down and put it into a solid, simple, and easy to apply plan broken into small steps Don't spend too much time on theory or planning, act swiftly. I think there are still a lot of old school Rational Male style red pillers around, but their numbers aren't growing nearly as rapidly as PUAs, MRAs, and MGTOWs flooding in. You have to realize that the ratio of beginners to veterans will always be high in any public venue, especially when you can access it from your underwear at home for free. No man is better than me. You have to dissect the underlying meaning of what you say. "Navy Seal" doesn't make him better than you. It makes people THINK he's better than you. The truth is the term better is subjective. I agree with this to an extent, but let's not forget the pragmatic realization here that a life spent in painful defiance is still a life of pain. The key to what you're saying seems to be the "amused" part, which is similar to the existentialist philosophy of absurdism and you even used the word absurd in your description. No, just choosing the right people in the right situations. Your chances of getting an STD are fairly high with any stranger, but if you work out an arrangement with someone who gets tested regularly for their job, or who is part of an industry where prostitutes are legal and testing is mandatory (i.e. what I've heard of how it works down in Nevada in high end establishments). Agreed, stop watching porn altogether. It's a nasty counter-productive drug. As for your shemale fetish, just realize that these symbols are a manifestation of natural desires and imbalances internally that your subconscious tries to find cures for based on their counter-parts in real life. To give a super quick example because I'm off to work: Let's say you lack connection with men, and affection from women. Your brain may take those two separate emotional needs and project them onto a single s…

There are a million different ways I could spin this in 30 seconds, which means it's subjective and you should make your own choices. A quick devil's advocate for you: For hookers: Porn is a form of cuckolding where you are viewing what you want, but can't have it, and often you're watching it get fucked by other men while you jerk your schlong. This is degrading. Not to mention the immediate release is counter-productive and prevents your masculine energy from building up and encouraging you to…

She's an adult and responsible for herself. How did she survive before she met you? Was she just being raped constantly? Put the responsibility back on her. What you're talking about just takes time, patience, and practice. The first step is the knowledge. The second step is planning your future accordingly. The third step is living the lifestyle. Compare it to learning anything else new. Do you play games? Sports? An instrument? Consider what it was like when you were only a few months in. Yeah, you knew the basics, but you were really only just getting started. You have to encounter situations you don't have answers to in order to find the answers…

Thanks. I think the "hit me or sit down" concept seems to be the crux of the best advice in this situation. You either want to fight, or you want to talk. If you want to fight, it's best to get them to start it, and the easiest way to do that is to clearly call them out and challenge them to do something. I would, upon further analysis and thinking, advise this step by step approach: Ignore Can't ignore? Decide if it's worth fighting over. Not worth it? Leave. Worth it, or can't leave? Basically…

Too much focus on pussy. What are they a threat to? Your ability to laugh? Your ability to lift? Your ability to leave and go have fun somewhere else? Your ability to make money and spend it? No, they're a threat to pussy, and you're dwelling on pussy as the source of your happiness so indirectly they become a threat to your happiness. It's not them. It's you. That's how you solve it. Learn how to be happy without pussy before it will ever really matter whether or not you can get pussy.

Yet, you posted a picture of you in a thick jacket from an odd angle that looks like a pose for instagram. If you want to know how attractive women find you, it isn't in your face. How does one maneuver someone into hitting them? I have no experience with that. Is it enough for them to push you? If you weren't such a piece of shit I'd honestly explain this to you in more depth, because you're clearly interested in fitness, but you played your cards as the big swinging dick and now you're stuck with your limited knowledge. Do your thing and see what results you get, that's all that matters in the end. My opinion and yours doesn't mean shit. Do OHP without adding lateral raises and see how your shoulders develop.

I wouldn't normally respond to ignorance like this, but since people are asking questions about fitness I'll explain to them why you have no clue what you're talking about. First, no one said strength and size weren't heavily correlated. Please learn how to read. I said strength and AESTHETICS were not the same thing, because strength is about large compound lifts, and aesthetics requires you to work a lot of small muscle groups using isolation exercises that don't directly matter to strength ba…

STRONGlifts is a strength program. Strength ≠ Aesthetics. I can't stress this enough. Strength is defined as how much you can lift for the core competitive lifts like squat, deadlift, bench press, press, and sometimes row. These are 'fundamental' compound movements and if you are lifting heavy on these you will be strong. Aesthetics has very little to do with strength, and is focused on working muscle groups that increase sex appeal. A perfect example is the lateral deltoid. Not a single workout…

This is extremely important: it is not your job to cure or fix other people. Use them in the state you find them, and if they have no use, leave them where you found them. There is absolutely no benefit from trying to fix and change other people, it is an emotional leak that every man must learn to plug with his own silence and self-concern.

Aw man, freaking socialism at work castrating men. Sorry to hear about that. I guess if everyone makes the same regardless of what you do, I can understand why you'd lose motivation. I didn't realize you were EU.

Not sure why you tried to be a hero. From my (cold) perspective you took on responsibilities that weren't yours, for no reason. You were there to get food, not to judge people or act as police liaison making citizen arrests. If you don't plan on finishing it, don't start it. You weren't in a position to finish that without committing a crime, so don't start it. Accept that the world is full of turds and you aren't a toilet, so let other people do their jobs (or fail at them) and stick to your ow…

Ok, so if you really care about your family you're saying you don't want to be able to provide them with any luxuries? You want your son to look up to a man who does the bare minimum to get by? I'm not trying to shit on you, just saying that you say your focus is on your family but instead it sounds to me like your focus is on being lazy. I've been the same way, not judging, but TRP isn't really a community about doing the bare minimum to skate by and get married. If that's your goal, what are y…

Not sure if you didn't read, or if you're just giving generic advice, but I did lift for 6 months and got past novice lift levels for my height and weight (based on ExRx strength standards for the major lifts.) The only reason I shifted away from lifting heavy is because I need to do as many pushups as possible for getting high test scores in boot camp for the Navy. You get special privileges if you can do 100 pushups or 100 situps in 2 minutes. After boot camp I'm immediately going back to lift…

Based on your logic I should stick with ripped and perfectly proportioned. I actually don't like the idea of taking drugs. Out of curiosity, do you totally discount the Bruce Lee look without the +10lbs of muscle? Is that based solely on women wanting more muscle, or based on the fact that there is no real functional advantage as a man?

I don't think everyone's ideal career is the same. Not everyone longs to be rich, and not everyone wants material things, but I think you will find people here do encourage you to put a healthy amount of effort into your career. Not only will women see a man without ambition as weak and a poor provider, but career can (hopefully) be one of the best and most rewarding places to invest your energy. It's a way to invest in yourself rather than in women. To illustrate: compare a guy who just wants t…

I included improving your professional life under self-mastery, because I think having resources to spend is a vital part of self-esteem and functionality. Didn't mean to imply you shouldn't approach a girl until you're CEO. More like, if you're still working your childhood paper route you might need to upgrade before you feel confident and have the resources necessary to afford a wardrobe.

Thanks, the first one was hard to take seriously. Still, after reading this I'm not really that impressed. Seems kind of like their conclusion is "Breaking News!!!!! Punching with a FIST is better than punching like Niles from Frasier. + Biological explanations for why." Uhh, I guess I figured that out when I was like 14? Don't really care why? I expected it to be like "Hands ACTUALLY better at punching than using tools. We don't give a fuck about tools we just wanted to beat the shit out of eac…

Style is more or less a billboard for what you are selling. Business suit and slick hair = slick businessman. Leather jacket and rebellious haircut = rebel in a leather jacket. It's all shit for women, because men are perfectly happy in whatever is comfortable and functional. Right now you have nothing to sell. You lack confidence, you're out of shape, and you're confused. There is no style for that, except maybe the style you're wearing. Focus on improving yourself and then guaranteed, as you i…

So you have to look at it like a drug and make it as least pleasurable as possible. Like taking medication instead of getting high. It serves purely as a necessary function, but should not in any way be seen as a source of joy since it obviously isn't adequate to maintain happiness or self-esteem.

Read, understood, agreed. What about the fat loser who is only just beginning to take the pill? Are you advising he quit porn cold turkey and only ever masturbate to mental fantasies? It seems as though you're encouraging the reinvestment of energy away from porn, which is wasteful and draining your masculine incentive for self growth into a tissue, into an all-pussy diet. If you can't afford or procure pussy, then you don't eat, and thus remain hungry. Is that pretty much it? But again I must a…

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess I have a general kind of anxiety but less "Oh no people will judge me" and more "Oh no I have to be around people?"

Ohhhhh, hahahaha, I haven't heard that term used in so long I thought you were talking about shredding or cutting, not an exercise. Didn't even cross my mind. :P

Ok, quick tips: All you really need for lower body as a male is squats, calf raises, and deadlifts (although ideally you would add leg curls for hamstring balance) No idea what 'muscle up' means but if you have pecs all you really need are arms, shoulders, and abs. Easy exercises to cover all of those are bicep curls, tricep cable pushdowns, grip work for forearms, cable crunches for abs, and lateral raises for shoulders (assuming you already have something for rear delts like rows) Body fat is …

Ok so here's the thing, all these different internet youtube programs suck for one reason or another, and all the diets like keto are unnecessarily extreme, but that's not the point. The point is that right now you're in the stage of contemplating, you need to be in the stage of action. I don't care what diet you start on or what workout program you start on (why do you even care if it's a 5x5? that's such a weird /r/fitness request). JUST START. When I first started I was on a Starting Strength…

It is a slippery slope (and not the pleasant kind). We have in common the fact that we no longer desire to please women, but I think where we differ is perhaps in gaining any value from believing a woman is into us. If a beautiful woman showed up right now and said she had no desire in life other than taking care of all my sexual and other needs, I would still walk away. Why? Because she's full of shit, and I know that, even if she believes her own lies. My choices are to temporarily manipulate …
