Some people don't have the tools, emotional or otherwise, to help themselves out of a rut. And that's OK, it's a skill that takes time to develop. You might want to consider seeing a therapist, I know it made a huge difference in my life. JL5150 is right in that you'll have to work on your inner game before or at least in tandem with your AA. Good luck bro.

Thanks man! I got lucky with my lab/supervisor (money, research edge, and resources), so I've had a great experience in my PhD so far. I was a little vague, I'll try to add some detail. What I mean is that despite looking fairly young for my age, I usually get "how old are you" fairly soon in a convo if I'm chatting with an undergrad. I don't let it phase me, and girls feel that in the interaction but I can't help but feel like a bit of a predator, especially when (frankly) my game is better tha…

25 year old 4th year PhD student, biomedical science at a university in Ontario, Canada. I certainly feel too old to be gaming on campus, luckily there is a decent mid-20s crowd around. That being said, I'm involved in a few extracurriculars that get me out to the bar wheeling 20 YOs. I work hard in the Lab and still fit in the gym, athletics and social life. You've gotta be great at balancing things though, sometimes I drop the ball. But to answer your question: you can socially integrate as lo…

Good post man, I really think this should have more upvotes. Question: do you normally have such an easy time getting in state? I can dominate a scene when I'm feeling it (usually catalyzed by knowing ppl and good music), but I can only imagine being discouraged after showing up alone and having such a shitty first set. Any suggestions?

I suffer from exactly what OP is describing; I have no problem gaming, but I try too hard when she's someone I want to date. Outcome independence stems from internalization of abundance mentality. I have no doubt that there will always be another attractive girl on tap... But I've run the numbers and I don't believe there are many attractive, intelligent, and cool girls available in my area and in my age bracket (I'm 25). Am I wrong? I can't seem to get past this.

I've never really had success with cold reading, so that part of my game is lagging. This might be a useful tool for getting comfortable with it, as it provides structure.

Late post! I've gotten pretty good at approaching alone, and I see the value in having a wing, but what kind of openers do you use when your "flying in formation"? I have a tendency to inadvertantly draw all the attention, and just the idea of opening a group of girls with a wing seems complicated. What kind of openers work well in a team?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
