This sounds awful. Glad you got rid of him.

I was in a situation similar to yours like one year ago, but then started becoming scared of making a poor choice and ending up in an abusive relationship as with one of my exes. And then I realized my initial fear was not being a mother. So thinking about the possibility of being a single mother once I felt ready gave me so much peace. Because that is something I can work on (although I know it's hard) without depending on someone else. Now I'm in a relationship and don't stress much about that…

I'm approaching the 30s and it is really a time to reflect about life paths. Take it as an opportunity to redirect what you don't like, but please don't buy onto society's pressure on women. About dating, it is infinitely better to be single than being with the wrong person. If you want to have someone, work on it, but most importantly work on being a version of yourself that doesn't need someone else. It is really dangerous to date from a weak position, since it leads to poor choices that are s…

My mother didn't teach me some of these things either. But it wasn't because she was trying to prevent me from something, just because she didn't know them herself. How could she have taught me then? She taught me other stuff though, like how important it is to be there when your beloved ones need you. And even she's sometimes a bit reluctant to change, she's never ever stopped me from leveling up. When I find something that I think it might be useful for both of us, I share it with her and we'r…

I feel so disappointed for the message this show is conveying to those who are not as critical towards toxic relationships. It's only enforcing the concept of keep trying and you'll fix him. Sadly, this show isn't doing any good to women, especially the younger ones.

I'll start doing this from now on. I've never minded defending the right to make our own decisions. But lately I've met someone who talks so lightly about abortion. It exhasperates me having to explain him that it's not an easy procedure and it entails lots of physical and psychological risks. But next time I'm sending him this picture.

And this is why FDS is not a hate subreddit, but a lovely community of women supporting each other.

I needed to read this today.

So true... I'm shocked that your words describe so well my situation. I literally told this guy that he was using me to "feed his ego". And I also used the "he's not honest with himself" excuse to convince me I should keep on trying. Hopefully, we won't be making that mistake again.

Isn't it shocking how easy it is to see it only when you're out? At least it was like that for me. Spent to much time struggling without realizing how unhappy I was...

I love this new category! I should be using it from now on. All you describe hits so close to home... It's sad that there are people out there who keep doing this. Is it so difficult being honest with others?

I'm sorry to know that. It has also just happened to me. But lesson learned.

I also get so angry every time I think about it and the time I lost. And what really bothers me is that he makes me feel so angry with myself for not having realized this long ago. So I still give him what he doesn't deserve: my precious time being wasted in hating him.

This happens to me too often. There's this new guy to whom I've offered a lot of help (it was hard feeling lost when I was new and now I try to help newbies to make it easier for them). Our boss was mad at him because he wasn't showing advances. So I spent a whole working day with him to try make the code work. And he was doing selective hearing most of the time. So at the end I told him: please, do what I'm suggesting or I'm done with losing my time with you. That week we got really nice result…

Definitely. It's just so upsetting to realize people who I thought were HVMs do so...

He didn't ask for her number, just made a very awkward comment about how hot she is. I would have said he and my close friend are HVM, but yeah maybe it's time to find better men...

I know she's not the problem. The thing is that this has happened also with a guy I was dating and one of my closest friends. With them I bothered to explain why I didn't like them saying that but ended up looking jealous. Above all, I am angry with myself for letting this make me feel insecure at a time I was doing great.

I've been single for a while after a long relationship with a narcissist and I can tell you I've never been so happy as I am now. This pressure about finding a partner makes no sense. Love is great, but only with the right person. You're doing what it took me many years to learn, analyze other relationships to identify the things you do and don't want in your life. This will save you a lot of time-consuming and emotionally-exhausting trial and error. You have to be your only priority, and if in …

In the past, I spent a lot of time getting ready to look great for guys on first dates. Now I just try to look fine on a first date and only take the effort later on if it is really worth it. Never dress up for someone you haven't even met, do it only for yourself.

He's not the best example of HVM, though...
