125% child support!! Like deadbeats don't even pay child support most of the time, that's why they're deadbeats. And that, right there, is the difference between a "deadbeat" female and a deadbeat male.

True. Also these men are not "neutral", it's just that whatever benefits men is called "neutral", "objective", it's the default. YES! What a perfect reframe. 👏👏👏

EXACTLY. The idea that everything is truly a choice comes from such a place of blind privilege. When you have layers of trauma, cultural misogyny, fear of rejection by your community, is it really a choice? It's like saying self harm is a valid choice because the person "wants" to hurt themselves. FFS. Somehow we've managed to teach an entire generation that everything is OK as long as we frame it in terms of "choice," and we've completely failed to teach them critical and nuanced thinking. 🤦‍♀️

I'm going to file this under "probable autism." That in no way means she has to accept it or live that way, but it is the only thing I can think of that explains him. I say this having worked in the field for ten years, dated two men on the spectrum, and my sister is engaged to someone who is very likely on the spectrum but isn't ready to identify with it yet.

Silly girl. He's clearly only paying the price of HER actions. He had nothing to do with it. /s

There are SO MANY movies and TV shows that don't hold up for me, or my sister, now that we have really grown into our feminism. I can't tell you how many times we've rewatched something from younger days, then torn it apart, and then kind of looked at each other, shrugged and said "Feminism ruins everything." Edit to add: We think that's a good thing. Once the blinders come off, baby, there is just no turning back.

I ignored a guy's horny/lonely Thanksgiving text once and he called me the day after Christmas and then lead off the call by asking me why I didn't respond at Thanksgiving. The hilarious thing is that we had only been on one date (at the end of October), after which neither of us contacted the other again, and I hadn't saved his number in my phone. I only answered the call cause I was away from home and thought my cat sitter might be calling from a different number. I couldn't remember this guy'…

This is one of the only places I see this point of view expressed. So refreshing. My sister and I are both feminists who are frustrated by the lie that feminimism means women should be just like men (especially in regards to sex), rather than just like themselves.

Porn and saying everything is all OK as long as it is between consenting adults. I had a conversation with a friend--an otherwise extremely intelligent and feminist woman - who started to get offended when I said that some of the BDSM stuff is unhealthy (I understand it can be done in safer ways than this post illustrates with safe words etc). My point was that maybe we should stop and consider things like trauma history when we are talking about sex, consent, and why people choose the things th…

Dumped a guy last year when I looked him up in Casenet (at my father's urging...Dad is a lawyer) in his home state and found out he had a long string of bankruptcies and credit problems that had gone to court...and so had his old man. We had only gone out a few times, but I was all "see ya later" after doing that digging.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
