A harder boundary would be to block them, sis. Responding at all by cutting them off isn’t very FDS. Level up by blocking them and not wasting one more second of your life with their energy.

LVM will disrespect women and treat them poorly regardless of whether they see these women as “in” or “out” of their league. Their seeming “royal” treatment of women out of their league is not real. A woman is not being treated like a queen if a man only treats her a certain way because he deems her better than him, like a prize to be won. He should be treating her that way because he respects and values her, regardless of what her social or financial status is or how it appears to him.

🗣Because they feel they can still get something out of the connection, even after the actual relationship has ended. It’s all about take take take with these LVM. Remember that.

His reliability in one aspect of your life does not justify having him in your life. Your peace > money. Find other ways to get mail to you that don’t involve him.

That’s a normal feeling to have! What has helped me is to remember what I’ve learned from FDS, and that’s to be a high value woman with high value relationships (romantic or otherwise). Quantity ≠ quality. Your ex having a large group of friends doesn’t mean that they are necessarily of high quality. Birds of a feather flock together. Low value energy attracts other kinds of low value energy. His friends are likely not of high value. Also something else I tried to remind myself from my breakup w…

It’s so interesting to see other women’s experience of this. Thanks for adding to the discussion. In my experience, the older millennial men bordering on Gen-X have been more depraved. Perhaps it’s from their longer exposure to porn? Contrastingly, the younger millennial / Gen-Z men I’ve spoken to are more open to / have rejected porn consumption altogether.

“In her new book, “The Right to Sex: Feminism in the Twenty-First Century,” the philosopher Amia Srinivasan, who is quickly becoming one of the most high-profile feminist thinkers in the English-speaking world, describes teaching Oxford students about second-wave anti-porn activism. She assumes her students, for whom porn is ubiquitous, will “find the anti-porn position prudish and passé.” They do not. Rather, they’re in complete agreement with assertions that could come straight from Andrea Dwo…

Yes, I should have definitely clarified with this. Thanks for that! My message was meant to say, don’t disappear on your friend because they’re in a situation like this. Continue to be a friend and spend time with them like you usually would.

Be there for your friend. Consistently show up. Remind them that they are loved and cared for. One underlying tactic of abusers is to isolate their victims from their friends and family so it’s easier to abuse them. You can help your friend by being present and letting them know they’re not alone.

If you know someone’s real name, you can run a background check for any criminal/civil/traffic suits and citations on them. Many states have these databases available to the public without a formal request. You can simply Google “[State name] public / state records.” ETA: Another strategy is to reverse-Google the person’s OLD picture. If you don’t meet them through OLD, ask for a face picture that you can use. This may help you to link them to a social media account, professional website, or ide…

There’s always an excuse for everything. Men will come up with any and every excuse to stay low value. It’s even more pathetic when this energy comes from the men who have the easiest access to these resources. If we women had the same access, we’d be thriving even more. We’d be untouchable. But nah. Why would you ever want to be great, right?

Having dated too many white men who only go for specific kinds of non-white women, I’ve learned to ask them up front what their “type” is. You don’t even have to ask them to elaborate because they’ll give you their fetishized/racist answer almost immediately. Some are more explicit about it: “Because white women are too independent. They just want to be the man in the relationship. But your kind of POC would know how to be a woman in the relationship” While others are more subtle: “I like exotic…

It’s block and delete. Giving these LVM any more attention, even if to call them out, is just giving them what they want: attention. We don’t do that.

It’s pick me bait. LVM do it to fuel insecurity among us. They hope we lose our self respect and knock down our boundaries so they can swoop in with their low effort bullshit.

It’s personally a no from me, both having exes on social media posts and being friends with exes. I asked my ex why he kept photos of his exes (from over 4 years ago) on his IG, and he made a pathetic excuse about how “his mom would be upset” if he took them off, and that he’s “friends” with his exes because they “bring him business.” Translation: he’s a user and a mama’s boy.

Also beware of how he and his circle react when you let him know you do not accept that behavior. I had this happen at my ex’s brother’s wedding, where he left me the whole night to spend time with his female cousin. Mind you, my ex’s best friend even made “joking” incestual remarks about how my ex was obsessed with his cousin. When I tried to leave, my ex’s brother (the groom) and their other female cousin said I ruined the wedding.

Could not agree more. Been there done that, and will never do it again. What it truly comes down to isn’t about money, but values and lifestyles. I want a partner with the same set of values as I do, and it’s difficult to find that with someone who isn’t in the same class. Those could include considerations around education, financial habits, family planning, even cities/areas to live in, to name a few.

Another example from personal experience: Him: “When we have kids, I’m gonna show them all the sports and make them serious athletes” Me: “I’ll balance that out with some language and music lessons” Him: “God, you’re such a fucking nerd” Me: “I know, right? Maybe I’ll just go for someone as nerdy as myself. Like a doctor” Him: “You can get the fuck out of my house then”

Agreed! On that note, I recommend that people look into the HPV vaccine and encourage men we are with (and our fellow women) to do the same. Guidelines have been revised and the US FDA has approved the vaccine for children, women, and men from 9-45 years old.

Does “grabbing a terrace” usually involve a reservation? If so, a man worth your time would make a reservation in advance and would tell you what time and where without you having to ask. You can make your FDS-minded evaluation re: what to wear and whether this is enough effort on his part. Of course, he should also be mindful of when you are available on the day you agreed on.

The mods aren’t deleting your post because of the message. FDS would agree that paying into a man’s equity without having our names on the deed is not beneficial. Your posts are being deleted because the rules prohibit cross posting or mentioning other subs so we aren’t seen as brigading other subs.

I’m not disagreeing with you that those kinds of men are indeed LVM. I’m saying it’s unfair to say that women who choose to look high maintenance or undergo surgeries are pick-mes. There are women out there who want those things for themselves because it makes them feel good, regardless of what a man thinks.

HVM prefer women who are confident in themselves, whether they tend to dress “naturally” or “dolled up.” But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what a man prefers, whether he is LVM or HVM. We should be dressing in the way that makes US happy. Some of us might feel good dressing more naturally, while some of us might feel good dressing up. That’s not on any of us to judge how another woman chooses to outwardly present herself. This post reeks of pitting women against each other and putting…

Great post! Adding some things after dating a “religious” man: He will hide his porn-sickness. He will tell you that porn is inappropriate while in a relationship, but will have a full browser history of extreme fetishes. He is obsessed with the Madonna/wh0re complex. He will pit you against women who are themselves religious, who go to church, and who are willing to be stay at home spouses, while cheating on you with married women. And that’s perfectly okay! That’s the beauty of radical feminism. We can be whatever WE want to be. I was more referring to this fucked up idea in our society that women can only either be brilliant OR beautiful, but not both.

It is not your fault that we’ve been conditioned to accommodate other people at the expense of our own comfort. I repeat, it is not your fault. I’ve been there, too, and something I’ve practiced is giving out my Google Voice number, if I believe that I will be in danger because of someone reacting poorly to me saying “no” (which, as another person pointed out, is a complete sentence). It’s also a good habit because I use my Google voice numbers for businesses that I do not want to hear from but …

Definitely give the book a go! Two advantages: 1) you can always put the book down to give you time to process what you’re reading, and more importantly, 2) you have the opportunity to learn more about each girl’s story. It’s such a humanizing account. It can be devastating at points, but being able to read about them now and have their voices heard, even though it’s decades too late, is a good thing in the end.

There’s also the book called The Radium Girls by Kate Moore. Highly recommend it (because I love supporting women in writing), but it can be terribly sad so I also recommend taking your time with it.

Having studied Classics in undergrad, I definitely agree. See, for instance, the way women with similar roles were seen as opposed to their male counterparts. Cassandra was cursed to tell true prophecies but not to be believed. She was seen as crazy and hysterical. Meanwhile male seers, such as Tiresias, were well-acknowledged and played active parts in many mythologies. I implore you to read Circe by Madeline Miller. It’s a great twist on the story of the “witch” that Odysseus encounters in his…

I appreciate this post, and I want to clarify: There is a federally recognized psychotherapist-patient privilege. Four things must be met for such communications to be privileged, and therefore, not allowed into evidence: The privilege is with the patient, and only the patient can waive this privilege. Only confidential communications remain private. That means that if this information was told to another party, the information can be brought in for evidence. Only confidential communications rem…

Run. And even if they’re not all insta “models,” I guarantee you that they’re other women from dating apps he’s collected throughout his time on them. He will use them against you, to bring you down and make you feel like you’re not good enough. And he’ll use them as “backup” options when you don’t succumb to his manipulation.

This is it. My ex cheated on me with women who were much older than we were (think 10-25 years older). They were the antithesis of me: older, had children with absent baby fathers, and uneducated. He cheated on me because he liked how dependent they were and how much more free time they had to constantly give him the attention he wanted. He liked feeling like he was in control and that he was the man in their dynamic. He hated how educated and independent I was and how I wanted to spend time wit…

This is my ex who went to trade school (nothing wrong with that) and who told me to give up law school to do something else, like be a nurse, or a dental hygienist, or an optometrist’s assistant (what his friends’ and brothers’ wives were doing) so I could spend more time with him. And then had the audacity to say that he’s afraid that when I become a successful corporate lawyer, all these doors of successful men will be opening for me. Do you really think I’m doing this for any of you? 😂

I’m sorry you had to go through that. Though I admire you standing strong with your boundaries. I couldn’t agree more that following them on social media is worse. As they say, out of sight, out of mind. Having continued access to their social media accounts not only gives these men opportunities to message them through those platforms, but gives them opportunities to constantly have them on their minds.

I am so glad other FDS women feel this way. This is exactly why things ended with my most recent ex: he absolutely REFUSED to unfollow “Instagram models” and women from OLD on Instagram, even after he deleted OLD women from his contacts. It’s because he wanted to stay connected to them “in case we broke up.” These kinds of men don’t respect women, especially the ones they’re dating. They only see women as sex objects.

Thank you for posting this! As to your point regarding men pulling the strings to make us insecure: many women, especially FDS women, aren’t inherently insecure. We know our worth and the worth of other HVW. It’s the LVM that do things to fuel any sense of insecurity. They purposely pit us against one another to keep us down. The more we see other women as the “enemy,” the less we are able to realize how little value these men bring to our lives, and the less we are able to see what they’re doin…

This is why it’s also important to vet your friends, especially the male ones. I think it’s possible, with a lot of vetting, to have male friends. What this means is that you set boundaries with them and only remain friends with those that genuinely respect you and your boundaries. This also means keeping them at a certain distance, both physically and emotionally, so as not to allow them to think there exists inappropriate connections.
