Thanks man. I actually live in NYC now. I lived in Denver for the past 5 years. I agree, though women in CO were great. Very genuine, caring, honest. Great place to live. Only problem was how disproportionate the male to female ratio was D:

Good question. Similar to my answer above. There's never really a "perfect" time because things can always change. Here's a framework that I operate in that works very well: She wants to know that even if you hook up, you aren't going to play her, or use her. She wants to feel like even if she made the decision to have a one-night stand, it was worth it. I used to be the asshole, player guy so I know very well how to fuck things up. I've learned that actually being a good, respectful guy not onl…

I could see how you think it's dishonest. I'll clarify And I get that you like things instruction like, but that's not how human beings operate. We are emotional creatures. There's no checklist that you can follow for every human interaction in life. The reason why I discuss it in person with her is because I want to find out if we're even a good connection first. Plus, it's easier to talk about feelings and goals in person. Think about it like this, if you were messaging a woman online and look…

It's crazy how powerful emotions can be. If I'm not careful, I notice I get a need for validation from women. It causes me to do crazy shit and to feel really insecure. Like you mentioned, I've learned I have to take care of my needs first and stabilize my life. It's a really shitty feeling chasing a girl out of a need for validation. Thank you for sharing.

Great question. There are a few things to note: If she mentions in her online profile that she wants a boyfriend or a relationship--move on. Women who are open to more casual dating will say things like "Looking to have fun." "Not looking for anything serious." "Looking to meet new people" are all indicators that she's open to being casual first. I always explore if we are a good fit for each other on the first date, not through messaging. If I say things like, "I'm not looking for anything seri…

Think about your word choice, "Last shot of the semester" "Last chance to get laid" Based off all of that, do you think you have a good chance of talking to her as if she were a normal human being, or as if she was an object to be conquered? Which one do you think she will appreciate and be more receiptive to?

Those are both good take aways. Sounds like you have to learned to be unattached from outcomes and just focus on enjoying yourself -- which is awesome! And you are also spot on about over thinking. I am definitely an analytical introvert. A blessing and a curse. I've learned it's apart of who I am. I can't turn off the part of me that obsessively thinks, I can only embrace it and learn to live with it. This post was actually a reference from about 10 years ago. I've read her book on vulnerability which I got a lot out of. A lot of the advice is very counter intuitive to what men are taught in our society today. We are taught to be hardasses 24/7 and never show weakness. I've found that it's much easier for me to live with myself when I acknowledge my flaws and weaknesses. It doesn't have to be some kind of boo hoo cry fest either. I think there is a lot of strength behind accepting you don't have it all together. Not only that, but it's SUPER attractiv…

I like to check in with her once or twice if there is a long delay like 2 weeks. Could be a short exchange over text. Snapchats would be cool too. Overall I just want to let her know that I still want to see her, and I'm willing to make time for her in between the date.

I'll play devil's advocate to your last point. Why should someone get a ton of experience at bars and clubs if they hate bars and clubs?

A lot of your points are valid and make sense. As with every article, I can't cover every single variable on dating. I just like to write what I've learned about. Some people like it. I have read it. I like the book. I'm also a huge fan of what Mark Manson writes on his website now a days.

Totally agree. My intention wasn't to stay inside your comfort zone as an introvert. Like you, I'm a huge fan of self improvement and I constantly challenge myself. My stance was simply to create environments that work for you. That doesn't mean it's going to be a cake walk, but it will help build confidence. You're spot on.
/r/seduction10/04/15 12:07 AM
6

I never said to not improve. I said to find an environment to works for you. Of course introverts have to go out to networking events and deal with groups of people they aren't always comfortable with. Yes, it's beneficial to do your best to improve in those situations and make the best of it. But why not create more opportunities for yourself in other ways?

Lacking boundaries might be one issue. As Shutup_Baby_I_knowit said you might be too nice. In this case it means you are being a people pleaser and not being honest about your intentions. Do you ever state your sexual desires for her during one on one interaction? That can simply mean telling her you think she is really pretty and you're into her. It also sounds like you are letting fear control you. " I start caring too much and thehn don't want to potentially ruin a genuinely great friendship.…

Your anger and rage is welcome. That's what communities like this are for right? Sharing ideas and fining what works for each other. Like I said in the post, I'm not here to say who's right and who's wrong. Just as you wrote, Use what works for you, and throw out the rest.

I totally agree. Sometimes you will say something that doesn't click with other people. That's totally cool. Comedians have jokes that bomb all the time. Their whole goal is to get people to laugh and they still fuck it up! The take away for me is that it's ok to make mistakes

Another way to think about it is that women DO their part. It's just not the same way men do. Just think, when a women goes out she: Spends hours in front of the mirror getting ready Picks the right outfit HOPING that it encourages a guy to come talk to her Goes to the bar / club / coffee shop / where ever and sees a guy she's interested in She smiles at you more than once which translate to "YES IM LOOKING AT YOU, PLEASE COME SAY HI." Yup, 10 years. It has been a roller coaster ride the whole time. Don't worry about other people. Everyone starts at different places and has to work through different challenges. I think success can be illusive. It's easy to think people are having quick success and it's easy for them because reading things on the internet can be one sided. I've tried being more relaxed, being more jokey, being more present, being more centered. Yet I can't detect any noticeable pattern each time I present myself in a different way. Even when I just approach as fully myself the same recipe follows: I open, I chat a bit, suggest a hang out, she 70% of the time just says sure or maybe, I get the number, go to text it, she gives an excuse. I think this says it all. People (especially women) can detect when people aren't being "real". This is where I t…

As far as getting ripped to get laid, it won't improve you chances much. If you are doing it to signal to other women "Hey I really take my health seriously and look how much effort I've put into it." Then it may help. You don't need to be super ripped to get women who are in shape. It's important to be in shape and exercise, but you don't have to go to 5% body fat, bodybuilder extreme.

That has always been my main "fear". What part are you scared of? What part do you get hung up on? So to approach a girl who didn't give me a signal I would need more experience? Did I try to pull off a too dificult move? No I wouldn't say that. I was only saying the conversations and energy might feel easier if a girl has already displayed interest. Approach and talk to whoever you want though, there are no rules.

I tried not to "drill" her. It went like this -> approach, dance, smalltalk (not even a minute), dance, gone. I always wonder what people talk about in clubs when they meet for the first time. I figure it's not "what are you doing" etc...Any advice/links on that? In loud clubs people aren't talking about anything deep. Usually small, flirty, fun talk if it's going well. Being "over confident" can be considered cocky. The difference is where you feel like you have to display your confidence intentionally to other people. An example of this is putting other people down, talking very highly of yourself "I know I'm really awesome, reason X, Y, Z."

First off, good stuff on going out there and making an effort. Give yourself some props for that if you haven't already. You are doing the right thing by pushing yourself and getting out there after a long relationship. A few things: I am going to say this out of personal experience, but from what you wrote, I don't think she was into you. You can do the Facebook message, but I don't think she will reply. It depends. For one, it does show sexual experience and that you have something to offer among women. So some women will be intrigued by that. Women looking for a short term fling would be more interested. It can hurt you if you are looking for something more long term. It doesn't make it impossible, but you will have to work a little harder to prove you won't burn the girl you are interested in. If you live in a small town and are known as the player it can become a problem. Mostly because the …

Women pay very close attention. Think about it, they can go out and have sex with any guy at any time of the day. If they were just picking off physical appearance they would have any kind of guy they wanted. You don't need to write a massive bio. Do you feel you don't have good options for meeting girls? At an engineering school the demographic can certainly be skewed. Have you tried online dating?

Thanks for your reply. Out of curiosity, what types of questions are you trying to avoid, and why?

Thanks for your reply man. That's good that you know your strengths and weaknesses. How often do you think about this hang up you have? It seems like you have some mental barriers that you are wanting to work through. If you are interested - I am looking to speak with a few guys on skype because I am working on a guide to help them develop more confidence. This is something I've spent the last 10 years improving in myself and I'm looking to give back. You can check out who I am and what I repres…

Since you enjoy reading, have you tried writing? Write out why you want to improve this area in your life and reflect on it. Place an actual value on developing this aspect of your life. It can look something like taking 5 things you want in life: Talk to women with confidence dream home dream car tons of money new puppy Give each item a ranking 1-5, 1 being the highest. If you put a 1 or a 2 on talking to women with confidence then you know this skill is top priority in your life right now. Any…

So you are hung up on the mental aspect and not so much the physical approach and conversation? What do you think made you relapse?

What specific part are you getting hung up on? Is it knowing that she's into you and would like to go home? Is it feeling confident enough to ask her to go home with you? If you are flirting, is there physical touch, does she seem into you?

Glad it's working for you! I think a lot of people starting out in the dating world think they have to "go to the bar and hit on chicks." when realistically most guys don't like doing that in the first place. Those little challenges will add up and pay off 10 fold over time. You will find that you are at a huge advantage when you develop social skills without relying on alcohol. Let me know how it goes!

I had this exact same challenge. In high school I was very shy and introverted and had to learn how to be social without alcohol. I wasn't getting the results so I had to break down what aspects I needed to work on. I just wrote a blog post on this today so I will copy and paste some elements from it here that may apply to you. Most of the content about dating is written for outgoing people who like going to the bar. For someone who is shy or introverted, this is a death sentence. If you hate th…

Envision yourself in 10 years. What do you want to get out of your dating life? Do you want to be a player that "manipulates slutty women into having sex with you"? Do you want to be an authentic, vulnerable man who shows up on the world as a powerful man and attracts women who have high self esteem and self worth? I've done both. The player, manipulate route didn't work for me. I hated thinking that I had to take something from women. I haven't read Models, but Manson's belief system works for …

When you sweat in a situation like that it's because so many things are new and uncomfortable for you. It also sounds like you tried playing out the situation in your head in several different ways before it even happened. This caused you to overthink and to not be present with your friend and company. Do you sweat when you speak to anyone you don't know? It sounds like more practice in speaking with people you don't know would help out. That in learning to be present in the moment with them ins…

I also like your suggestion of "identify what about those "negative friends" drains you, and figure out how to avoid the effect, without having to cut those kinds of people out of your life." One exercise I have done is when I get an emotional charge with someone (angry, sad, annoyed, shame) I take the opportunity to look inside myself and see what triggered it. Thank you for this suggestion.

I agree. I think it's important to have friends from all walks of life. I have a friend who grew up with a lot of challenges emotionally, financially, with his family, and is still having a huge struggle with his life right now. I know that he needs someone positive in his life, and I look to offer that for him. He has told me he looks up to me, and I am very honored by that. However, I still have to be careful about how I spend time with him as it costs me a lot of energy both mentally and phys…

It helps to start with a goal. Why do you want to get better? Is it to go to networking events and have talk with anyone? Is it to ask out a girl you're interested in? From there, you can reverse engineer the steps it takes for that particular situation. Once you learn how to get better at one specific scenario, you can move to different areas of life that involve small talk.

Well put. I think a lot of people get touchy over the subject as removing people from your life because it sounds selfish and inconsiderate. To a certain degree it is selfish. Given you example it sounds like it was destructive to your health and relationships. When you removed yourself and got a new set of friends things dramatically improved. Thanks for this.

I've learned that there are some people that just aren't healthy for me to be around. Here's how I evaluate it: When I hang out with a person I pay attention to what words they use (positive, negative, pessimistic, optimistic) and evaluate how I feel throughout the interaction. If I feel drained and put down after it, I would evaluate that they aren't the best for me to be around. If I feel energized and like we connected then I continue to be around them. Does this mean I NEVER hang out or be a…

This is usually a defense trigger from the other person. Depending on how you said it or the context of the situation they most likely feel uncomfortable. I will personally address the person I have an issue with. When done in a group, the likelihood of them getting defensive is much higher. Talk to them in a direct, but non threatening manner. This means you can talk calmly and softly to them, you don't need to yell or have anger in your voice. This communicates that you aren't challenging them…

The short answer is 10 years of trial and error. To get specific I broke down each section of conversation and learned how to improve from there. I was very shy in high school and I couldn't even hold small talk. To improve small talk I started with saying hello to the person who worked the checkout counter at the store. I would say hello BEFORE they said it to me. I would ask how they were doing next. Once I got comfortable in this I developed from there. I would pay attention to people who wer…

I hear you. I believe everyone has gone through, or is going through their own personal hell. I know I have been through some very dark times in my life as well. Your statement has a lot behind it, "i would like to be a positive person myself when it comes to things, but i have seen a lot of dark things in this world." In essence, it sounds like you are saying "I would like to be positive, but because of the past I can't be." I would challenge you that the past doesn't have to dictate the future…

I have friends that challenge me all the time. The last thing I want is people who agree with me all the time and take everything I say at face value. To be clear, I stopped being friends with people who complained all the time, had a negative out look on life, and were draining to be around.

It sounds like you have found a way of life that works for you and are happy with. I know that accepting myself was/is the hardest thing to do. Reading your comment made reminds me of myself in a lot of ways. I used to be very bad at small talk and very quiet. I always got, "You're so quiet" a lot from other people growing up. It seems like you decided to own that and accept that which I applaud you for. I chose to learn how to have small talk and develop my social interactions. Some days are be…

There are a few parts to this in my opinion. If you show up in the world as low self esteem and talk negatively about yourself in front of others often, then you are inviting people to pick on you. I'm not saying you do, but this may be a factor. Another factor is that some of your friends might not be the best people. Keep in mind men like to joke with each other out of fun and have a good time. Every now and then men can cross the line either accidentally or intentionally. There is a point whe…

I am selfish in the fact that I am very careful about who I hang out with. There's a saying that says, "Show me who you friends are and I'll tell you what kind of person you are." I am careful about who my closest friends are and who I spend a lot of time with. I 100% agree about having friends from different walks of life. This doesn't mean that because I don't agree with someone that I kick them to the curb, although yes I did stop hanging out with a lot of people. There are boundaries for whe…

It can be a combination of things. Male friends will joke with each other and that's ok. When it's not ok is when they are being total dicks about it. I believe there are two types of jokes. The other night I was out with a friend and he told me to text this girl we were going to meet up with and tell her to buy our drinks and have them ready when we arried. I said no. He responded with, "I remember when I was a pussy." I took him aside from everyone and said, "I understand you like doing the wh…

Thank you. I agree, without action reading is totally useless. I see a lot of people throwing around tactics and ideas, which can be good - but without trying things out and discovering yourself and what works for you, the reading is meaningless. It took me 10 years to feel comfortable with dating. I probably spent the first 4 or 5 years just reading content without much action. Once I hit a certain point of deciding I wanted to be successful at dating as bad as I wanted to breathe, I started to…
