Whatever the reason may have been I took it to mean that he only wanted to do it because it would cause me pain. I'm just not down with that kind of relationship

Yep. And I didn't know what I was going to do either. Turns out, with some serious therapy and alone time, it turned out I was going to have a great life that I could have never imagined after living with a lvm for so long. PM me if you need support or a pep talk. Life post divorce from a loser is AMAZING

Deal breaker. Fire immediately. NGL, I tried it with one that was around for 8 months. It was ok, not that great for me, but afterward he kept asking if it hurt me and was visibly disappointed that it had not. If anal wasn't a giant red flag before then, it sure is now.

i think this is the most important. if you are looking for marriage, a man of that age who has never been married probably isn't very compatible with your long term plan.

it definitely could be a red flag. what does your instinct say about it? my anecdote: i'm in my early 40s and i have 3 male friends / colleagues between my age and 50 that have never married. they are all professionals who travel or work a lot and enjoy solitude. one is a corporate network tech who owns a house he only sees once every two months and says even though he would LOVE to have a dog he doesn't think he could give up his traveling job. one is an artist who isn't opposed to dating but d…

from @radical__daphne i have found this to be the case: If he starts off hot and heavy in the relationship but then after three to six months completely loses interest in having sex with you and suddenly develops erectile dysfunction out of the blue. He's a porn addict. or sex completely drops off after 6 months or so, like you've gotten "boring." i've seen some situations like this, where men stop even expressing interest after a little while and head right back to their phones / computers. i r…

Yikes! I figured out how to get the downvotes! Sorry it was a joke that went wrong. It's true I'm not a big fan of cats but I should have never compared them to men.

i always felt pressure like this too. i'm from a working class background, but now have multiple degrees. i still live in a w/c neighbourhood and haven't upgraded my economic lifestyle. (i'm just not that in to "stuff," i rather to travel a lot & it's cheap to keep a house here) for years i maintained that it didn't matter if someone was "as educated" as i am. that whole "you don't have to have an education to be intelligent" deal. that's wrong. i wasted so much of my life keeping my mouth shut …

I'm not one hundred percent unbothered but when something bothers me if I can't immediately let go of it I take action and forget it. For example last year an lvm tried the ghosting for attention tactic on me and after 3 days I contacted him and ended things. I was annoyed for the second half of that third day and decided it was not worth my energy

you know it wouldn't matter. anything you do "for" them, it's never the right thing or good enough. the goal post is always moving if the dude's a jerk. i shit you not, after i started shaving all the time because my ex shamed me about it if i didn't, my EYEBROWS weren't good enough anymore. no joke. since my liberation about 2 1/2 years ago, i stopped plucking my eyebrows too. i doubt anyone has noticed, which is a nice reminder to me that HE was the one that was fucked up, not me. not. worth. …

out of context, this could be my "quote of the day." i'm just going to say this to someone randomly today: THIS POTATO NEEDS GOOD CARE

I'm a competitive cyclist and my beautiful, muscular, hard earned legs are all scarred up with shaving dark spots. It sucks, but I didn't know any better when I was young. I now only shave the night before road races. It does make a tiny bit of aerodynamic difference, but I'm considering not doing it this season because it's such a hassle. Plus "the bush" is waaaaay softer than the stubble.

Mmmmmm. Keep telling yourself that, sis. I repeatedly went to bat for my ex when the husbands of his side chicks contacted me. I was THAT delusional. Guess what??? He was fucking all of them. Dumb ass me didn't figure it out until he finally traded me in for a coworker 15 years younger than us. Dont buy into that "you can trust me" bullshit. Its bullshit.

Definitely a difference in opinion lvm vs hvm. My brother is the dictionary entry of hvm and he totally loves this sub... thinks us ladies are hilarious and inspirational.

I have often wondered the unintended effects of BC. It gave us more bodily autonomy but I think also made sex more "mandatory." Maybe a better word is "expected." I imagine you are right about non piv sexual contact (which I am going to refuse to call foreplay). As far as what I truly like, light massage is wonderful. People should pet each other more, lol All mammals like to be touched, I think.

hey lilly, guess what? you're awesome and despite what the "romance industry" would have you believe, today is just another friday. finish up your obligations and do something you really love to do or do something kind for someone you care about. it's a great way to stick your finger in the eye of the patriarchy. i have a key to my best girlfriend's place, so this morning i went to the market and bought 3 bunches of flowers. i did an arrangement for each of us and made a stealth drop off to her …

That's why I said it LOL when I was in college I had a roommate with a cat that used to chew the armpits out of our t-shirts. Took us a long time to figure out why the washing machine was only mangling shirts!

love the pic! while a large number of the comments were predictable, i did see a few that were genuine and 2 or 3 that actually impressed me. given statistics surrounding the internet and anonymity, i think it was a good experiment. it would be even better if the men who are actually on board with the ideas the see here took the initiative to start their own subreddit... hint, hint, lads.

you are NOT overreacting. your feelings are ALWAYS legit. i have cptsd. sometimes i freak out for "no reason." a HVM will give you space to sort anxiety and trauma related feelings out in your own time and your own way. LVM see your anxiety as a reflection on them because... surprise!... it's always about them. when you get into the negative spiral thoughts remind yourself that you are valuable, your feelings are valid and you do NOT have to settle for less. and remember you're not alone. there …

entitlement. my ex used to always say "i deserve x-y-z." never "i earned" something, always *deserve. deserved to be picked up after, deserved a better pay grade at job, deserved whatever kind of sex whenever he wanted, deserved to be given head pats and cookies for spending time with his own child. i could easily see a man being professionally successful and still having this quality.

i'm 40 now and i only realised these things after a long, abusive and ultimately life shattering marriage. queens to you for seeking advise early! learn to love being lone. not "alone," just lone. like lone ranger lone. understand that you are both the means and the end to your own existence. finding out that i could be entirely self validated has changed my life. demand what you want, be uncompromising in everything. the people who are intimidated by this are not worth your time, so let them we…
