I don’t shave for anybody. No, thanks to the ingrown hair, clogged pores and acne. Pussy has hair. I trim it down to a low level using scissors. That way there is enough hair for the protection role Mother Nature created pubic hair for, yet it’s low enough that I feel clean.

Amén. Cleanliness is the only reason I trim down there. Absolutely will not be shaving for any one. Especially not when most men I've dated seem completely unaware that the fucking forest that they have maintaining its own eco system down there can be trimmed back.

honestly, good god

I use a beard trimmer.

Me too. I have known too many other women who have horror stories about accidental down-there scissor cuts 😥

What kind? I’m thinking bout purchasing but so many options these days.
[–]EmergencyShitFDS Apprentice3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Just whatever cheapie I found at target. I don’t use a guard and the only time I’ve ever had trouble has been when I was rushing. It doesn’t get it smooth like shaving but it’s pretty close.

this is it.

Shaving too much damages and dries out skin, causes ingrown hairs and boils, can cause red or dark spots, only effective up to 3-4 days, and damn... that itch!!.
I've embraced the bush. It's not bikini season.
[–]marshmallowblues 31 points32 points33 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm a competitive cyclist and my beautiful, muscular, hard earned legs are all scarred up with shaving dark spots. It sucks, but I didn't know any better when I was young. I now only shave the night before road races. It does make a tiny bit of aerodynamic difference, but I'm considering not doing it this season because it's such a hassle. Plus "the bush" is waaaaay softer than the stubble.

It also causes skin tags down there eventually. Those have to be removed by a dermatologist.

If you do it every day, there's no itch ☺️
[–]lasolteritaFDS Apprentice23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
But we don't want to have to do that everyday.
[–]curlygirl507FDS Apprentice-4 points-3 points-2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You don't have to. I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted. I do it for myself

I haven't found a wax that my skin reacts well to. Last time I thought it'd be cute to wax 3 days before my vacation for hassle free smooth legs. I got a rash that took 2 months to disappear. Terrible! Tips to prevent this?
[–]turquoisebluesFDS Disciple3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That sounds miserable!
I go to an esthetician and thankfully have never had a problem with the wax used in salons.
[–]Whateverbabe2FDS Apprentice3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have extremely sensitive skin. Runs in my family and everything sets us off.
My family makes wax from sugar, lemon, and water. Look up "Egyptian sugar wax recipe". Much easier on the skin and 100% organic!
[–]essentialcitrusFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is simply not true.
[–]curlygirl507FDS Apprentice1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Okay. It is for me.
I don't really understand why people are so offended by my own personal choice. It literally takes about 2 minutes in the shower and it's just something I choose to do every day. No one else has to. I've been doing this for about 20 years.
I also don't understand why leg shaving is this long, arduous process for other people, but evidently it is, and that's fine. People don't have to shave their legs ever. My own best friend showed up to a state-level speech and drama competition (where she would be seen by hundreds of people) wearing white tights with 3 inch-long dark leg hair sticking out of them all the way down, and that was fine too.
[–][deleted] 77 points78 points79 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I don’t get this whole shaving-shaming. Some women don’t like to shave and others like to shave for themselves. Both is perfectly fine.

Why peel at all. I like my natural muff. I don't let a man determine what I find sexy about my body.
[–]Pleasant-ComplaintFDS Newbie43 points44 points45 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lmao, I never shave because fuck that bullshit. Men don't shave, either, so why should I have to?
And spoiler alert: I'm in a committed relationship and still have sex regularly. Wow, it's almost like it's just another societal standard that doesn't matter.

i have this peppermint/menthol lotion that feels lovely after i shave my legs, lovely fresh feeling. i never shave in the winter though, its not right for the season

I've never talked to a man about shaving who actually cared. I'm not even sure my husband notices.
[–]lasolteritaFDS Apprentice6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same. Back when I was a pickme I acted all insecure/shy about it & my ex said "well I hadn't noticed, so does it matter?"

Every time I’ve tried to shave my pubic hair off, this always happens! Don’t get me wrong, I trim. But I’m at the age now that I don’t give two shits what a guy thinks about it.

Samsies!
[–]jmaydizzleFDS Apprentice19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I wax pubic hair every few months because I like it looking trim for myself. However I NEVER shave my legs because fuck being in the shower for that long, and I ain’t spending money on that shit. Also I don’t care if my legs have hair on them. Boyfriend doesn’t give two shits either way... however the girl I sit with at work (total pick me) is mortified I don’t shave. When I first mentioned that I haven’t shaved my legs in 2 years she outright GASPED and exclaimed ‘oh my gosh you can’t have had a boyfriend during that time!!!’ Well yes I did and he didn’t care either. Such pickme bullshit.

I dated a guy for 4+ years and made it clear early on that I will only shave my legs if I’m in a situation where I know I’ll be publicly shamed for it (and just don’t wanna deal) and that I think my vulva should have hair. He never complained and was pretty much was just excited to have sex w me (bc SHOCKER he’s a guy and he loved me lol)

I haven't shaved my pubes legs or armpits in a reeeeeally long time. If the hair wasn't supposed to be there it wouldn't grow there. If I was wearing a skirt or dress with no/skin colour tights then I'd probably shave my legs for aesthetics but I honestly can't be arsed doing it all the time. Any man who's put off by that - okay, bye then.
[–]Angrboda229FDS Newbie11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This fuck boi I was seeing legit told me "I don't mind the hair on your legs. I'm not insecure." and I just had to look at him. Like I don't mind it either that's why it's there. 🤣🤣 I hate people who try to manipulate.
[–]essentialcitrusFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My used to say shit like that to try to shame me into shaving.
[–]Practical_AppearanceFDS Newbie19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Reminds me of How I met Your Mother - "If I don't shave, I don't misbehave"
[–]Whateverbabe2FDS Apprentice2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I feel humiliated when someone sees my armpit/ body hair. I'm semetic and I have very thick and dark hair all over my body. But I dont shave because my skin is so sensitive. I got made fun of a lot in school for this when i was younger and now I am very insecure. I love waxing but its so difficult to do by yourself and so expensive to get done.
[–]balladwildsFDS Newbie13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
tbh i always wax regardless of having sex bc this potato needs good care !
[–]marshmallowblues 13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
out of context, this could be my "quote of the day." i'm just going to say this to someone randomly today: THIS POTATO NEEDS GOOD CARE
[–]throwaway93731FDS Apprentice4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Same! Even if no one's gonna see it, I do it for myself!
However, I always get ingrowns/breakouts from waxing regularly :( As a fellow regular waxer, do you have any tips to help alleviate that?
[–]balladwildsFDS Newbie3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
oh i relate ! but im having less problems now that i hydrate it everyday w almond oil (or any oil/cream) and use tea tree oil on ingrowns, it helps them get out :)

I stopped shaving several years ago. Out of all the boyfriends and friends with benefits in that almost-decade, NONE have cared about me having hair. Not a one.
I use an electric trimmer on my legs and pits (it is not a 'smooth shave' whatsoever) but no one would know because it looks exactly like if I have shaved. No one ever notices. I can go to the beach without sand-burn. (Ever made the mistake of going to the beach the day you shaved? Never again in my life, homie. Never again.)
[–]rosa_sallyFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I shave my whole body for myself. I love the feeling of smooth skin all over. I don’t have any razor rush or ingrowns etc. so it causes me no bother. I do it regularly irrespective of partner status. I just love it.
I do however detest men that still think they can have a go at me when I have a tiny bit of armpit stubble or some hair coming through on my upper lip. It’s like I’m basically hairless 95% of the time and it’s still not enough.
And these men are always the the ones that never bother grooming themselves. I don’t want to go searching through a bush to find your penis so stop complaining that in a certain light, you see some hairs on my face.

Lol sometime I wish I could keep my body hair, but my sensitive skin doesn't want this thick hair. Dermatitis sucks.
