American chick in uni went to the Cayman Islands and broke her quarantine to watch her boyfriend of a few months compete in a boat race, got caught, got sentenced to 4 months in prison and now the family back in America is crying for leniency.

I must be really cynical because I don't believe men are ever "unaware" anymore. That's what I was told growing up, that men just "don't get it." I would argue that they absolutely do.

If I could go back to my school days, I would focus 100% on myself and not even talk to boys outside of a school/community setting. Epic waste of time and energy. Do your own thing.

To each their own. I find this rather extreme. My retirement is on track with several times more in investments than the median for my age and even older, yet I've been to 27 countries and go on about three trips a year. It's not an either/or. I love my job though and don't have a desire to retire at all. There's nothing wrong with traveling and wanting to see the world. I have zero regrets about the money I've spent on travel. That's a huge part of what life is about to me. I can't imagine just…

Not sure how old you are, but if you're in your 20s: I turn 33 in a few weeks and I've never felt better. I'm in such a better place now and I genuinely look forward to the future, which wasn't true for the 20 years preceding my 30s. Much of it is related to the fact that I no longer care about men.

Just be grateful you discovered this and got rid of him before it was too late. Listen, I have five exes. All were attractive, paid for things, helped me with things, we went on trips together, fancy dinners etc. I lived and had two cats with one of them. They were far and away better than most of the men we hear about on here. They wouldn't hit a child or insist on tracking expenses like that. They still weren't worth it. I'm so much happier on my own. I have a good job and am studying for a be…

I was with my ex for almost 6 years and rarely had sex with him (maybe a couple of times a year) after the first few months. He never strayed despite being desperately attracted to me.

Unfortunately many many men (and some women as well) are truly evil. It's not a rare thing. They get off on feeling like they have more power than the other person. It's shocking and horrible when you first become their victim, but then you learn the signs and nothing surprises you anymore. Now I just think all those people are lame as hell. I can't imagine functioning that way in the world.

Oh god, what an asshole, although I'm slightly less worried about you given the context - I really hope he's just trying to get your attention and that he's trying to pull that Dan Bacon shit where he tries to make you associate him with fun and laughter, only he really really sucks at it.

Time for her to grab all her stuff, leave, and block him for good. Even my abusive ex would never say something like that.

No, no, no, no, and no. Block and move on. He will never see you in the way you want him to. This is basically what happens from almost every single online dating date. You have to expect it. Even if he becomes your boyfriend, you have to expect him to leave (or be prepared to leave yourself) at any point during the first year. I can't explain this behavior but I speak from four years of experience. You didn't know him anyway. There was nothing to get excited about. You gotta regulate your "feel…

Jealous! I wish I could find a funny Pakistani husband who had to grow up fast and is therefore more mature, etc. Dating American men is like trying to go out with your son and Indian men have been consistently violent and terrible to me.

Also this story is confusing. How was selling a house and moving into an apartment a step up? And why did they tell those "friends" about the abortion? And how were they related to the house? Anyway, agree with everyone here. She should get out right now.

I've gone from being totally anxious, depressed, and suicidal to being one of the happiest people I know. I've realized that when people treat me badly (men or women, but mostly men of course), it's not personal and is solely their issue. I claim all of my time for myself. I am already working on my bucket list in my early 30s. I look forward to every day because I only focus on what I myself can control instead of fantasizing about a Prince Charming who's going to come and whisk me away. I plan…

Side note, there is really great full-coverage women's underwear on Etsy that I highly recommend to everyone. It was one of the things in my life that I upgraded this year and although it's a little pricey, I couldn't be happier. Just placed my fourth order.

It's good that you recognized those things, but ultimately, this was his problem, his issue that he needed to fix. Even if it happens 30 more times, it's still the man's fault. Don't let it affect you except to have men take up less space in your brain.

Well, one time when he was talking to me (tossup there), I agreed to drive to his apartment an hour away, and in the middle of my drive, he told me to turn around and not to come. That's why I think his original text, whatever it was, was sent to multiple women, and he got an offer that he liked better than me when I was already en route. Otherwise, why would he turn down sex? Even if I'm wrong about that, he was still a complete psycho.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/11/20 06:43 AM

OP, please listen to this person. If you do not heed her words, you'll be posting disappointment after disappointment about him for the next several months or years. Don't waste time like this. I'm a fan of asking what they're looking for upfront to prevent this, but not sure if that's the official FDS policy.

Agree with three months. However, I once waited about that long with a guy from a dating app and he still revealed himself to be a sexual predator who immediately stopped answering my texts, put me on a mass texting list with however many other women he had tricked (I'm pretty sure), acted crazy in order to deflect responsibility, etc. (Obviously I would never put up with this now; this was almost 4 years ago) I would say more important than the amount of time is to protect your feelings by imag…

Just horrible. I'm so so sorry. Ladies, never put up with this. Not that he was exactly a hvm, but my first love and I waited a year. He was super cuddly, affectionate, loved me, and took me on many many proper dates where he paid before we slept together. This was in high school and it's what you should expect. You can get an STD test. You're probably fine.

Imo, it's actually a lot worse than this. Most pickmes end up having children since they're so desperate. They pass along their toxic ideas to their daughters (not to mention their sons), the daughters pass them along to their friends and classmates, and the pickme mindset proliferates throughout the world. Only the very fortunate start to question these ideas and go on to become hvw. The rest just repeat the pickme cycle.

I don't think any of us can get into your subconscious. However, that is a thing, especially where victims of child sexual abuse gain weight to be sent as unattractive to future potential abusers. It's definitely possible. Did you start any psych medications around the time you started gaining? Also, is it possible that you have PCOS? I went undiagnosed till I was 29. Metformin helps stabilize my hunger levels a lot. In case it helps, yerba mate tea is good for curbing cravings. I do wonder if t…

This phrase is a little confusing. "Shit" is something bad. "The shit" is something really good. Saying somebody "ain't shit" actually means that they're "not good." Saying they're "shit" also means they're not good. Lol

Serious question: why do women do this to themselves? Almost all of them say they wouldn't change a thing, but this sounds like absolute hell. I've never wanted children; several of my friends have a couple, and I'm totally exhausted after spending 2 hours with them with zero responsibility from my end. I really wish I could understand why this lifestyle is evidently desirable for so many women.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/11/20 05:15 AM
27

Yes! I went through this when I was 23. I felt like my boyfriend at the time was just so spoiled and had hardly worked a day in his life while I had lost my mom, lost all my money (her life insurance) in the recession, had always worked very hard in school (graduated magna cum laude in honors with honors, etc.), got a master's, had had several internships, and learned Spanish pretty fluently (at the time).

15

What does that even mean??
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy10/11/20 03:04 AM

There seems to be a worldwide shortage. Seems logical to me, as most people who have had children are pickme + LVM combos and all those ideas have been passed down to them.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/11/20 02:44 PM

I've always been very good at making friends - I've had great ones my entire life, old and new. I often see people on here saying they can't, and I don't know how to help them.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/11/20 01:30 PM
30

What do you think are some of the barriers to that for you?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/11/20 05:59 AM
11

Exactly. I wish someone had explained to me around the same time as sex ed how absolutely desperate men were for sex and how they would literally do or say anything to get it. I didn't understand that until my late 20s.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/11/20 04:45 AM

Imo, sending one message isn't chasing the D. I completely understand not wanting to be on there of course; I'm not anymore either.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 11:05 PM

Yeah, seriously. Another thing is they'll test you by having you walk on the side of the sidewalk closest to the road.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 10:15 PM
3

This is a minority opinion, but while I agree it's not ideal, I think you can still tell whether a man is willing to make an effort after sending the first message. When I was on Bumble I just sent that first message, sat back and waited.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 10:14 PM
5

Yes! I did meet one of my exes on there. The idea that sending the first message means you won't get a dick pick is ridiculous.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 10:09 PM
3

Agree with all. I actually got off all dating apps, but a guy on Match paid for me to be able to message him even though I don't pay for the service, which is the only reason I was willing to entertain the idea. Guess what he wanted me to do...come to his house and eat his cooking. He also threw a "walking date" out there. Nope, nope and nope! I hope you're correct about men having to work harder for sex.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 05:36 PM

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 02:36 PM

It reeks of domination. In my experience, most men on dating apps are predators. They're primarily looking for sex, and will say anything to get it, but they'll also steal money or use you for their ego (abuse you and see how long you'll stick around).
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 02:33 PM
16

Yes, you're describing the whole premise of my post. I was simply trying to refute the comment that they're thinking "I’m gonna meet her to see if she’s physically my type ."

I always refuse both. It's hilarious how many guys just *will not take you out for a meal.* It's not expensive in my area, hardly that much more than coffee. Starbucks is $6 and an entree is maybe $10-12. It's hard to understand other than them just wanting to retain power by not giving us what we want and deserve. That's why I think they're all laughing about it. "Look, I got this one to meet for a $1 coffee!" "Well, I met this one for coffee and didn't even pay!" "I can one-up both of you! I g…

My best friend's mom is like this. My family didn't want me to be around her too much because they thought she had grown up in a religious cult and wasn't a good example for a young girl. She got married at 19 to get out of the house, was and still is completely dependent on her husband (who's told even me that "he has all the money"), moved to his hometown (where she never wanted to live) and lives in his childhood home (which retains much of the same decor as 30+ years ago), and remains to thi…

I don't quite agree with this because I feel it's important to get basics out of the way first (like are they religious, do they want children, what is their full name for a background check, their marital status, etc.). Also I find when I chat with someone for a few days I'm often able to spot red flags and unmatch quickly. But maybe I'm doing this all wrong...

Right? He's 30 and I'm almost 33. Honestly, there's not much point. I have a nice lifestyle by myself and anyone who would actually enhance it has over $100k in student loans, which cancels it out. A scenario in which I actually come out in a better position would be very hard to come by...not to mention the myriad other problems.

I don't know why you are hell-bent on portraying me in this awful way. I never said anything about you. I just gave my interpretation of your post, which you say is completely wrong. That is fine. When you make public posts like this, some people are going to see things in them that maybe you didn't intend or, as you're saying, are completely wrong. It doesn't need to be something that bothers you so much or affects you so deeply. In fact, if I'm wrong, as you say, it shouldn't bother you at all…

Thanks :) and she took my original comment as a very personal criticism, which it wasn't meant to be. I'm probably quite a bit older than her (almost 33) and I remember having similar things happen in my mind, and I just want to encourage her to let men take up as little space in her mind as possible, and be more systematic about dating. I wish I had spent a lot less time thinking about men and their pedigrees when I was younger.

It's been a while since I've been active in this sub; there seems to be a different crowd and I don't seem to be communicating well. Because everything is a game of convincing women to do things for them. Can I get her to date me if I don't pay, can I get her to sleep with me if I don't brush my teeth, can I get her to give me a birthday present if I don't get her one, can I get her to marry me if I verbally abuse her, can I get her to have my child if I hit her? In addition to everything else it is, it's also just generally lame. Exerting your power over someone else for your own gain or amusement is something a weak person does. Strong people adopt growth mindset; they work on their own flaws while helping and supporting others. It seems that most Indian men are just of really weak character.

This is part of the service that Tinder offers - male protection of other men who commit crimes. If you can get away with it, you deserve it. This is what men want, and they're the ones paying Tinder. As I often say around here, they have zero ethics, and this is not surprising in the least. It also made me sad how many women on the documentary went to men's houses on the first or second date or didn't unmatch when they asked for nudes, etc.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/10/20 10:32 AM

I mean, exactly. Men don't have ethics. They don't desire to live in a just and peaceful world. They don't desire to have good relations with others, or promote any kind of goodness.. They are here for one reason and one reason only, which is to get whatever they can and do whatever they can get away with to feel as powerful as possible.

I'm not sure why you think I think she had something to do with it when I said "not blaming her." Her calls with the investigator were very self-centered, with almost no concern about Shanann or the girls. The timing of her calls with Chris was suspicious. She googled about Amber Frey's book deal. This does not make her a criminal but it makes it seem like a selfish person.

Yes, this stood out to me too. I don't want to sound like I'm blaming them for what he did, but they were in denial and giving her false hope for months. I wonder if things would've turned out differently if even one of them had suggested that she kick him out of the house, or get an apartment, or move back in with her parents or a friend. I think at least she would've had more time to reflect on the situation and he wouldn't have had as much access to her.

This, OP. Full disclosure that I've never been married, but had two long term exes, one of whom I lived with for over 3 years. I grew up without parents/a real family, so I've gotten to spend intimate time with many other families in their homes. Very few couples are actually happy. Obviously, lol. I don't think I'm communicating this very well. People seem to be very confused by what I'm saying. I only date marriage-minded men who are willing to commit to me. I don't do casual sex, casual dating, etc. The difference is that I'm not putting marriage on a pedestal and making it a primary life goal so I'm not disappointed or tempted to settle for someone who's not amazing. It will be a bonus if it happens.

There are many many things we could discuss with this case, but one thing that stood out to me was how contrived his texts to Shanann were. Just a horrible horrible story. What a foolish and stupid monster he is.

You just need to realize that you've been brainwashed to believe that your value as a person is based on male attention and how attractive you are, which isn't true. It's a myth perpetuated by men for their benefit and gain.

It's very strange that you got that from my comment. Obviously I believe people should fully vet their potential marriage partner for years. Marriage is nothing to rush into. The problem with having marriage as a goal is that it makes women desperate to see every man as their future husband and clouds their judgement. The goal should be to live a happy life. If you happen to find a man you want to marry, that's great, but if that never happens, you won't feel disappointed because you weren't dea…

I think there is something inherently wrong with having marriage as a major life goal. Marriage is dependent on another person who may not exist. It means the woman can't see themselves doing anything other than being a man's servant for life. They have been brainwashed by society. It's not a good life. If they happen to meet someone, that's great, but it shouldn't be at the top of the list. Also, women can have children on their own, and in many cases, they should, since there are so many immat…

It horrifies me that any woman has marriage as a goal. Women should be enjoying their lives and building their futures independently. Men, benefiting much more from marriage, should have marriage as a goal, and should be doing everything in their power to attract and keep a woman, who is going to enhance his life much more than he will enhance hers. Instead, everything is about women dying to get married and men who won't commit. They've really turned the tables on us.

Another factor is that in general, it seems like Americans have more vacation time than they used to. It used to be that families took one week off in the summer or whatever, maybe two. Today, for example, I have more than 7 weeks of vacation a year (at a regular corporate job). That seems to be enough to me. Plus the fact that international flights are cheaper now.

This is so sad. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, OP. As an unrelated side note, to the women out there who want children: you have *way* more power than you realize. When you give birth, the way the government sees it is that you just gave them the gift of a future taxpayer. That's why it makes sense to support people having children with things like paid leave, extra income, subsidized childcare and so on, and why most countries have at least some of those things. Agree. Manipulation, coercive tactics, and using power and control are very real things. The assertion that "no one can treat repeatedly mistreat you without your consent" assumes a certain defensive way of thinking that many women were never taught, and blames the victim. One easy way for anyone reading this to avoid abusive situations is to start thinking in terms of what each person in any given relationship is giving vs what they're getting. Not at all. You could literally start your life completely over like four times and still have time to it again. Honestly, each year since 29 has been happier than the last for me. My 20s were pretty bad.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/09/20 10:37 PM

Why do you want to be married by 25? Your brain won't even be fully developed by then.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/09/20 10:30 PM

Your ex put you in a difficult financial position. Is it more likely that another man would help, rather than hurt you financially? You're 40, okay, if you live to be just 80, you have another 30 years for a different career PLUS 10 years of retirement. Or 15/15 + 10, or any other combination. The only thing is that if you live in the US and haven't started saving for retirement yet, maybe prioritize that due to the magic of compounding interest.

It's not. It gets better, promise.

Honestly 48 is still quite young with plenty of time to start a whole new career. I'm not sure I would do med school because of the cost and how intensive it is, but anything else seems up for grabs. I've known far too many people in their 50s and 60s who have given up on life and just stay miserable rather than trying something new. Proud of you 💕

Having children is becoming less and less common, especially among college-educated women. Of course, you're not alone - several of my (very intelligent) friends had 2 children in their 20s, but they have lots of family support.

I'm not really understanding why this is getting downvoted. I completely agree with you here. I certainly wouldn't date him, as I said. The comment is more about the fact that this is a thing in society and it's bad. I'm not telling anyone to accept cheap dates; I certainly wouldn't.

Thanks, same to you 💕 yeah, for me the problem is that in my culture, being highly educated and having a good salary means a guy is more likely to have other high-level qualities as well, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Indian guys. They all have great jobs and salaries but seem to have many, many problems with even the bare minimum level of respect for women.

I completely agree with everyone here, but I would like to point out that wages have been suppressed for decades and there really are a lot of men who couldn't afford a $60 date today who in decades past would've made something like $70/hr at a factory job out of high school. These men are going to be single forever because there are more highly-educated women who would be dragged down by that, and it is a legit societal problem. Not that it's our problem at all, or that women should lower their…

I am so so proud of you 💕 I've been on my current path since I broke up with my ex at 28. He's still at the same entry-level job at 34 that he started almost 7 years ago. This is a job where everyone except him has been promoted after 6-18 months. He was whiny too! We have so much in common. The career thing is taking me longer than I'd wanted, but I'll get there.

Some scrote DMed me about this comment claiming that the dinner would cost $200, and I was crazy to think they would do that with every woman in their large harem, lol. I think it could go either way. I don't think the question matters as much as the framework, which seems to be a lack of confidence on your part. Just vet him over time, make notes about him (good and bad) and reflect on them once a week and see how many red or yellow flags there are. I had a crush on a pen pal of 13 years that I finally visited in 2016. When I got there, I basically asked him if he wanted a relationship, and he told me no because he wasn't attracted to me. He then spent the rest of the time I was there staring at my chest. I should never have assumed he wanted anything with me and will never initiate anything with a man ever again. We were still friends after the incident, but I have so many bad memories of it and am so embarrassed that I recently blocked hi…

It's also dangerous. Lots of people need antidepressants. To compare that need to alcoholics or drug addicts is completely backwards and frankly strange. There are teenage girls on here and I want them to know that it's okay to get help with their depression or anxiety or bipolar.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy10/09/20 11:05 PM

Yes, as I said, of course. This isn't about you; I'm just offering a different opinion for others who may be reading this (particularly young girls). Also, you may want to screen men early on about this. I take an antidepressant and haven't told anyone I dated in the last four years. I don't consider it a big deal or any of their business. You could potentially date someone for years and have no idea.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy10/09/20 07:44 PM

I respect your standards. I guess my problem with the notion that "all people who take antidepressants are broken and not worth dating" is that it discourages people who truly need them from taking them. It promotes the idea that by treating a mental health issue with medication, however minor, you become unworthy of a relationship. To me this is extremely different from not wanting to date someone who is dependent on alcohol, weed, or illegal drugs. The world would be a better place if those wh…

I'm not sure it's super helpful to lump in all pharmaceuticals with all illicit drugs. There's quite a spectrum for both. For example, would you exclude someone who had an occasional social drink? What about someone who consumed weed during a long weekend vacation where it was legal, but not on a regular basis? Would you exclude someone who took a low dose of a mild antidepressant, which is very common in the US? What about someone taking an antidepressant for other reasons (like trazodone for s…

Even that is indicative of what I said above. If they don't have an actual drinking problem, they shouldn't be afraid to be judged. If they do have an actual drinking problem, they already know that, and the judgment shouldn't matter. If the judgment bothers them, then that means they have a personal problem that they need to work on. It's not related to the person judging. (I remain neutral too. Of course I have my own vices, like sugar.)

I probably have 2 drinks a year, no smoking and no drugs. People who like to drink quite a bit, both men and women, tend not to like me - it's very annoying to them that I don't always want a drink like they do. People aren't willing to tone down their egos, look at themselves honestly, and start to work on their own problems, so they just drink to cope with everything in their lives. I'm not sure if this is a gendered issue or not but it definitely exists among women too. It's sad and pathetic …

First of all, you need to insist on and expect men to go down on you before intercourse. It's extremely important. Secondly, don't worry about your age, especially in NYC, especially if you don't want kids. Just start using tretinoin and use sunscreen and you'll look young forever. Third, I don't live in NY but I've heard from various friends, random people I've met traveling, and people on here that it's a horrible place for a woman to date. Sure; you can try dating apps like Coffee Meets Bagel (my fav) or Bumble, and once we get past covid, go out and do things. But you need to approach every man as if he's trying to trick you, take your time and wait a long time to actually get attached to them. You have to be willing to walk away the second he behaves badly... And almost all of them do. You have to keep your standards super high. This has my blood boiling. This is straight-up manipulation and should be illegal. Only a woman who's been incredibly brainwashed would put up with it. Yeah, unfortunately, three of them also got violent with me. One of them was a real psycho that I still have nightmares about - he lied to me about wanting a relationship that would lead to marriage, was hot and cold about answering my texts, turned everything I said into a sexual innuendo, then blamed me for his romantic disinterest in me because I slept with him 2 months in (this was way before FDS), slapped me a little, told me to turn around in the middle of me driving an hour to see him (I …

Thanks everyone! I will check all of these out, but I don't think any of them are the one I was thinking of - its title was listed in Korean and the person said something like it was about a woman's journey and there was a hvm who was supporting her growth but he wasn't the focus of her attention all the time.

Strongly dislike the show now, but does anyone remember the scene where Carrie found Burger's note and knocked over the vase with the flowers? I thought that was really powerful and I've never forgotten it. Maybe because she was showing anger instead of sadness.

Being healthy is important, but there's no reason to compare yourself to fitness girls on Instagram. Your appearance should just be one part of your identity, and it shouldn't matter to the extent that you're writing about on here. Ask yourself, so what if I'm not hot (even though I'm sure you are)? What would happen? Would it devalue you as a person? No. Would it make you less likely to find love? No. In fact it might do the opposite of you're overly consumed with it. Would people love you less…

Yes! I considered mentioning Betty Broderick yesterday when I made a post about the murder of Kelsey Berreth - two different stories, but both with underlying pickme mentalities. I haven't seen this exact show yet but I know the story. I consume a lot of true crime content and pickmeism is a common theme. My dearest wish would be for women to stop giving up their lives for men.

I love going out alone. I have complete control over where I go, how long I stay and so on. I feel like no one cares or even notices if you're alone, and there's nothing to be self-conscious about. Also by doing things alone, I've met other people who are more extroverted and will do things with me since, like you, most of my other friends are "either super homebodies or boo’d up and always with their man."

Please don't think that just because a group of people is elite or high-earning that the men in that group will be high-value. It could very well be the opposite. Don't plan on meeting anyone - plan your life as if you'll be single forever and if you do find a hvm it'll be a bonus.

I agree with the other posters that culture isn't as related as one might think. I can't get that image out of my mind. It's just so pathetic. The woman looks incredibly beautiful. What could he possibly be bringing to her life for her to go to that extreme? I very much doubt he's bringing anything to the table... If she wanted beautiful photos in a wedding dress, she could get those by herself. If she wanted a child, she could adopt by herself. Why go through this embarrassment and give this clown and attention at all, let alone propose to him?!

Sorry this happened to you. You have to assume that the guy is going to bail at any moment in the first three months because they usually do. If they stick around for longer than three months, maybe they are worth a little more investment.

However, I'm overall much happier. I've learned not to care about men at all. I don't get invested in them. I work, study data science after work, have traveled to 11 countries in…

This is all way more of a problem than your boyfriend stuff. You absolutely need to get in cognitive behavioral therapy yesterday. Please don't delay - not doing anything about this deeply seeded issues that you have is going to steal way more of your future than your boyfriend.

It's not hostility. I'm just very tired of seeing 90% of people, most of whom should know better, using apostrophes incorrectly. You're absolutely right about the cops.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/07/20 10:12 PM

That's beside the point. You have to work on you! Accepting you, loving you, and doing what's best for you. You are who matters here, not your boyfriend. You're depending on your boyfriend for validation and a vision of the future, which isn't good.

You have to start from a place of being content by yourself. Otherwise you'll stay in situations that aren't good for you, and you'll be even more likely to be preyed upon by predators because you're desperate not to be alone.

Your 30s are no age at all. Honestly, there are so many women who look great in their 50s, 60s, and 70s. Fifty is basically the new 30. I'll give them that I did look better when I was 16-20, but that came at the cost of an eating disorder, which I'm no longer willing to pay.

All of that is fine. All of us are better off without men anyway. They're almost always just a drain on our resources (time, energy and money) and a distraction from the fabulous lives we should be having without them. PS - I'm more attractive now at 32 than I was at 21.

No, I didn't say "in the 70's" with an incorrect apostrophe 😉 Cops are an automatic left-swipe for me. They're more likely to be violent. They could kill me and have a way better chance at getting away with it.

I know, that pissed me off too. Women need to understand that this is the system that men created, and still want, which thrived for centuries. Only when they were required to did men start to pretend to see women as equal partners and so on.

In the 1970s, police officers considered domestic violence a private affair and did not arrest men even when it was obvious that they had been beating their wives. Then the "Burning Bed" case - when a woman killed her abusive husband - made headlines and caused a national outcry. Today, despite stronger protections, millions of women a year are still abused by a partner.

I am sorry you have to deal with racism in terms of your name. How horrible. Just shouldn't be a thing anyone has to consider. Thank you for writing this. It's extremely important and I've read it several times. I think it is strange that people expect to have wonderful retirement years. Sure, if it happens, it's great, but it's certainly nothing to count on. People get sick and have accidents all the time. I was told that since I waited 2 months for sex with my exes, that it must be my fault for some other reason that they hit me, stole my money, etc. This is a systemic problem where men have learned to be parasites, taught by their fathers and male relatives how to get more and more out of women while giving nothing back.

Also, many of us have given extreme leeway and benefit of the doubt to men - going Dutch with them, forgiving them for unacceptable behaviors, giving them money that they were supposed to pay back and so on, just like the red pillers want - only for them to take further and further advantage of us: hit us, steal our money, lie, cheat, manipulate us, and more. Men have no idea how evil the vast majority of men are.

I didn't report anything. I completely agree with this advice, which is stated over and over in my comments on the thread.

I mean, we were also in our 30s though. If you guys are really young or if he's from a wealthy family, he may just have unrealistic ideas about money for normal people. However, his response was still rude and unacceptable. A guy who was into you would accept your flaws and want to help in any way he could - I don't mean pay it off for you but try to come up with a helpful response.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy11/06/20 02:16 AM

This is not normal. To give a counterexample, last year I was seeing a guy who was very good with money, no debt and 70k+ cash and a fully-funded retirement account. I told him about my credit card debt (not recommended) and he was like, "oh, it's okay, it's really hard to get through life these days without some debt."

You can see the usernames on each comment. I'm curlygirl507 and the other user was sadpourtoujours. What you're talking about is totally different from what my original comment was about. We totally agree that women who want a relationship should wait for sex. There's no question about that. I'm saying that even if you wait for sex, things still may not work out. Sadpourtoujours was saying that's wrong - I must've done something to make the relationship not work out. I'm sure what's happening is…

This really isn't about you and me. The other user, who I blocked, started asking a bunch of pointed questions meant to teach me that if I waited 2-3 months for sex and things didn't work out, it absolutely must have been my fault in some other way. I realize she's just projecting, but it was very much victim-blaming.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy11/06/20 01:22 AM

Mistaken how? I'm saying that waiting 2 months is definitely a must, but it isn't 100% foolproof. It is not going to protect you from bad men all the time. That was my original comment.

I refuse to take responsibility for my ex-boyfriend's (yes, he was my actual boyfriend) abuse. Before him, I made a lot of mistakes when dating (I thought we were dating - we really weren't) someone else who actually was a sexual predator (player). This was 3 years ago. I read all the books and blogs and worked on myself a lot. I developed a lot more rules and boundaries. That was my time to get real with myself and understand how men think. Btw, I don't consider what he did my fault either. The…

Right, this happens all the time. It's good to wait, not get attached etc. but it's not foolproof.

I'm right there with you - unable to develop romantic feelings. I do believe in love, but I think it's extremely rare. 99.9% of the time it's bullshit. I just consider myself lucky to have found my soulmate early in life even though I lost him just a few years later. Most people don't even get that. I don't expect to have a relationship in the future or get married. The world is unfortunately full of predatory men and I'm not going to put up with their behaviors.

I can't believe this is a thought anyone has ever had, let alone acted upon. Terrifying. As disappointed and distrustful I am of men generally, I actually want the best for them. Here's the thing though: men who want romantic relationships often have ulterior motives. They want to sleep with you, then mess your head about it to feel powerful, or they want you to support them financially, or any other number of things, so most of them aren't coming from a healthy place. I feel like what would help you more would be to make more quality friends, women and maybe gay men, men who are a lot older and not interested in dating you, etc. Since they likely wouldn't have ulterior …

I don't advocate any dating for women unless it's rare, true love. Most of the time, it doesn't seem to benefit them in any way, particularly if they're already smart, successful, and independent. All it does is take their time away from them and give it to their male partner, who gets the vast majority of the benefits.

I think it's going to be a miracle for any relationship with a man to beat that. My view: most of women's desires to be in a relationship with a man is based on patriarchal brainwashing that benefits men.

You sound pretty inexperienced. This is very common, and you did a great job. Don't expect anything different from the next one. Most men on dating apps are looking for free sex that they have to put as little money into as possible. Some will take you out on the first date, doesn't mean they really want a girlfriend even if they say they do. They are cunning and very highly skilled in the art of manipulation. Men are looking to get things from other people. That's how they operate. I want sex, …

First of all, please don't blame yourself for your ex cheating! It wasn't anything you did or didn't do; it wasn't about you at all. Secondly, just try to reverse the situation. It's not hard to understand at all. They do not view women as equals. We aren't humans with our own rights, preferences, desires, and dreams. We exist solely to please them and do all the dirty work that they don't want to. I don't think liberal feminism is defined enough for that. I think you're upset by the sex positivity movement specifically, and I am too. It doesn't benefit women at all. In fact I would argue that it undermines feminism.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/05/20 01:44 AM
41

So being a feminist just means that you believe men and women have equal worth and should have equal opportunities in life. It doesn't in any way mean that you believe women should sleep around, and it certainly doesn't mean you support porn or child rape, etc. It actually isn't related to sex. You can be extremely sexually conservative and still be a feminist. Saying that you are not a feminist means that you do not believe men and women have equal worth.

I've been trying to think of a helpful response for you. I know that you probably know all of this logically, but maybe it would help to see it written by another person: Most people are not out to get you. They are living in their own worlds and probably not thinking about you too much at all, let alone formulating an evil plan on how to get something out of you. A notable exception to this is guys on dating apps, who should not be trusted because they often are just trying to manipulate women.…

I generally can't stay friends with an ex because I'm too attracted to them and I just want to hug them and hold their hands all the time. However, my longest relationship ex is the father of my cats, and they live with him, so during normal times I go over there about once a month to see them. They won't. Male is the default, correct sex. Female is the secondary sex and any and all members are meant to be controlled and used for as long as possible by males, who are the only ones who matter. Anything inherent to the female sex is inferior.

Good for you for standing up to him. Gay men are great. Straight men are almost never really your real friends - they just want to use you for something, like the one in your post. Could also be free therapy, using you to make their girlfriend jealous, boredom, etc. The key is to think about what you've put into the relationship and what you've gotten out of it. This is generally why men want to get married. They want a cook, maid, and sole caretaker for the offspring from their precious, sacred sperm. The target audience is women who are or were in a long relationship, for years, without getting engaged. But it's also bad to act like they should be moving so quickly. My own mother got married and had me with somebody she'd only known for a year. It was very bad news and very selfish of her not to vet my father. She died and left me in this world without parents or a supportive family. I'm sure it's worked for some people but it's just generally not a good idea.

Description: Where the foothills of Mount Kenya merge into the desert, the people of Samburu have maintained a strict patriarchy for over 500 years in northern Kenya. That is, until 25 years ago, when Rebecca Lolosoli founded Umoja village as a safe haven for the region's women. Women need to understand that men are generally not nice people who truly care about others. They have a list of things they want and everything they do and say is meant to get them closer to attaining those things. (Sex, which can be provided by any woman, is always on the list.) None of this is by accident or because they don't know better. They're perfectly capable of putting themselves in someone else's shoes, but they typically only do that in order to manipulate that person to get what the…

The amount of time being spent on this subject by men is beyond absurd. It's just not important. I'm 5'2, dated a guy who was 5'4 max and barely noticed. Do not sell yourself short. Aim for the career you want. Don't prioritize relationships or men. Don't imagine that you're going to be in a relationship or married in the future - imagine your ideal future as a single person and work to make that a reality. That way if a relationship doesn't happen, you'll still have the best possible outcome. Understand that 99% of straight men will say anything to use you for sex.

I think you're overvaluing your ex and relationships in general. It's really more important to have friends. I know this doesn't help much since we're in lockdown, but have you reached out to anybody in your social circle lately? If your ex was less into you than you were into him, guess what - it doesn't mean anything. Your value is intrinsic and not determined by other people at all, certainly not male romantic interests. Do you know how fucked up most other people are? Finally, try to remembe…

When I lived with him he wouldn't clean his bathroom, which was disgusting. I would cook and he wouldn't even try one bite of my food because he wanted taquitos or pepperoni pizza instead (would never eat fruit or vegetables). Male myth: Women have fun in their 20s fucking every guy that looks at them, then suddenly become "used up" and unable to secure a monogamous relationship at 30. Female reality: Most women want a monogamous relationship in their 20s - but have trouble finding one because men are unwilling to commit - and most are pretty sexually conservative. Then at 30, they begin to realize how much time they've wasted caring about their male love interests/boyfriends who never really cared about them, and beg…

Men think about everything in terms of power and dominance. That's why they seek relationships in the first place - so they can feel dominant. Respect is something for other men, not women. Women are to be used for as much as they can be and then thrown away like trash.

Yes, this is just another example of the systemic patriarchy that exists in the world. There seem to be daily threads on FDS regarding specific movies or TV shows and how they portray unhealthy images of women and men. Once you accept that you grew up in a patriarchal society that intentionally tried to limit your thinking, that attempted to keep you down and second-guessing yourself, and that it was all a bunch of crap to control you, it becomes much easier to just let go of men as being important.

You don't need a relationship. Most relationships with men are a waste of time because they'll happily extract every resource they can get out of you while giving the bare minimum back. I say this as a woman who's had several decent-to-good boyfriends. I guarantee at least a large portion, if not all, of your friends in relationships are jealous of you. Just pretend dating isn't a thing and imagine your perfect life as a single woman. Then start working toward that vision one step at a time.

I've never gotten to that point with any of them. One of them was abusive to the point of putting his hand on my throat and threatening me with a gun. The other one stopped brushing his teeth and stole $120 from me. Those were my two actual boyfriends. The third guy I referred to above was just a player - the worst sack of shit I've ever encountered in my life.

You're implying I was somehow supposed to know that because a guy was Indian, he would be violent. Just because one or two Indian guys are violent doesn't mean they all are. Also, this is a clear instance of victim-blaming.

What worked for me was thinking about every action in terms of reciprocals. Would this person do for me what I'm doing for them? That was enough to really set me straight since the answer was almost always no.

Actually, to be honest, the #1 thing I look for in a man is growth mindset and the ability to critically examine his views and change them when warranted. You have that, which is very rare and very powerful.

My post was meant to show you what women may be thinking of you rather than to accuse you of those specific things. You did say 'I def fell for the "only date childfree women under 30" meme before I even started considering dating again.' Again, I commend you on recognizing that as a toxic mindset. Maybe I was abusive?!? So bad about me as a father she had to leave?? Like come on. This may sound implausible to you, but unfortunately, these situations are incredibly common. Again, not accusing yo…

Well, I think he said he was a recovering redpiller, and to his credit, he has been working on changing those views. But the fact that he was thinking that way at all to me is a red flag. There's nothing magical that happens at 30 that should make men wary of anyone over that age. Even if we're being totally superficial, and all he wants is a hookup, there are tons and tons of women over 30 who are just as, if not more, attractive than women in their 20s. Even most puas know that!

The fact that you're trying to date eight months out of a 20-year relationship is a huge red flag. The fact that you and your ex broke up after 20 years while having little kids is a huge red flag. To me it sounds like you all were able to put up with each other for 20 years, but something was so, so bad about you as a father that your ex just had to get away from you. Maybe you were abusive. Maybe you just didn't take care of the kids and made her feel like you were an additional kid. Whatever …

Side note: it's actually pretty lame and weak for him to pre-arrange it like this, like hunting at a zoo. If I'm going to be used for sex, the man needs to actually seduce me in the moment in person - not set it up in advance over text. Lol

whenever we meet up we sleep together You need to stop doing this, especially if you want a relationship. You sound like you get emotionally attached during sex (I do too), so it needs to be with guys who are fully committed to you. I can tell he feels the same Here you're making a "just like me" error. Other commenters have suggested how to move forward. I would just like to point out that I wouldn't take any of this personally - everything people do is about them, not about you. Likely poor Amy has been brainwashed by someone in her family (one or both of her parents) to obsess over men, and that's just how she thinks about herself, and she's also applying it to you. It has nothing to do with you really, so don't feel insulted.

Yeah. See, a huge percentage of men have never worked a day in their lives. They sit around playing video games, eating chips, barely having graduated from high school and living off their parents. But modern Western culture has taught them that they are deserving of a wonderful woman who will work full-time, support them, keep the house clean, and do all the cooking and child-rearing just because they are male and therefore superior. Why else would a guy spend months with me without sex? Lvm would dip out. Not necessarily. There are lots of players out there who date girls for months just to have sex with them. Your first mistake is equating love and sex. You may have feelings of love during sex, but I can assure you that if you're having sex with a man, and you haven't known him a long time, and haven't vetted him, it's highly likely what he's feeling has absolutely nothing to do with love.

Who cares? No matter your age, there's a 90+% chance a guy is just using you for sex, money, and labor. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. High school and college are too young for very serious dating because your personalities are still evolving. Wait til late 20s-30s and it's "too late." Whatever. Most women would be better off alone.

Because: Men are desperate for sex; Men are desperate to see signs that you're willing to have sex with them; Men engage in this type of wishful thinking all the time; Men really only care about having power over women, and this is one of the best forms of power and control over you. I'm really sorry about what happened to you. That's horrible.

Why does the endgame always seem like it's about power. Because for almost all men, it is. That's all that matters. I value true love too much to discard and abuse my partner after years of being together. This isn't something that resonates or even occurs to men. The only thing that matters is what are they getting, how much, and how long can they keep it up.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/03/20 08:43 PM

Make no mistake: it doesn't matter if you're in Azerbaijan. Men all over the world want to use women for sex. They are looking for any indication at all that they might be able to use you for sex. I’m starting to wonder why those girls accept these shitshow guys. Because they have low self-esteem and have been brainwashed that men are more important than them, and to not even think of their own needs. I wonder how these guys in the future settle down. I mean why would they ? They’ll never feel satisfied. They don't care. Their goal is to have sex with as many women as possible: 5, 50, 500, 5000, 50,000, whatever number they can possibly get to. That is what life is about for them.

Congrats on your escape. Honestly, women need to be less emotional and more logical. We all want to have these wonderful Disney feelings about a guy, and we end up projecting them on whoever's next in the line instead of critically examining his actual behaviors, always to our own detriment. I make objective notes about all men I date now.

The whole thing about this being just a game to them should make us all want to abstain completely. Even if we make them wait and get rings on our fingers and so on, they'll always win in the end because this is the attitude they start off with - "what can I get out of her?" All of it is a total con game for women. It's virtually impossible for them to care as much about us as we care about them.

Block both of them everywhere right this second. Were you abused as a child? If so, this type of thing probably feels normal and "loving" to you, even though it's the opposite. I used to post a lot over there, even made a few friends. There is also a brainwashing component here. You have been taught since you were born that you need to meet and marry a man, that that will give you value and meaning as a woman. In fact, what would give you the maximum value and meaning as a woman would be to develop yourself to the maximum possible extent on your own. When women have male partners, they almost always give a lot of themselves away - they lose themselves in the quest for "love," and ultimately it doesn't really do them much good…

I am not great at math I know this is off-topic, but as someone who tutored math for six years, you can totally master math. Since men are usually no longer providers, and are very likely to be abusive, violent, or at least psychologically and emotionally manipulative, why should I even bother thinking about havi…

just "rested their hand there" in a kind of loose grab (why is this a thing?!) Because it seems that a whole lot of men get off on the thought of having sex with a woman and then killing her. They do this all the time - rape and murder: the ultimate form of domination.

Yeah, I mean, I went to India last year by myself. I had a private driver and plenty of money. I'm white and middle class, so of course I was treated like a queen everywhere. Doesn't mean it's not still a horrible country for women, perhaps the most horrible.

I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but I think you're getting far too invested far too early. You didn't even know him. That means that you were projecting your fantasy on to him and hoping the real him would match up to it, which it didn't. When you meet a new man, envision yourself sitting across the table from him, holding back, and just listening to and observing him. Resist the urge to leap across the table and start getting attached, trying to fix him, etc. This vetting period should go o…

Maybe try finding some people outside your age group? I know you're frustrated, but you're going to have to keep trying to meeting new people. I ended up making some friends in their 50s and 60s that I met in a Japanese class. We play trivia and board games, go to cultural events, and so on. They love going to contra dance every week or more, and they also go to a Unitarian church. Don't expect people to become your actual friends when you first meet them. Just meet them, get to know them a litt…

This is so sad because all we want men to do is act in a reasonable and ethical way. I can't speak for everyone else, but I wish them well. I mean them no harm at all. I just want them to stop lying, stop purposely using women for sex, stop emotionally, psychologically, and physically abusing us, and start treating us as equal humans. Is that really so outrageous?

Don’t end up like me, 30, cashed out my 401K SO I COULD USE IT TO SUPPORT MYSELF because I wasn’t working so I could travel to him every month ... because in the beginning he told me he would support me. I'm so sorry this happened to you. How horrible. If he had really loved you he would never have wanted you to do that.

where the fck is affection, emotions, romance, caring for another human being This doesn't mean anything to them. Their whole life is about getting as many resources as possible for as little effort as possible. There's absolutely no thought of emotional intimacy, how their behavior affects other people including women, etc.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/03/20 08:36 PM

It's not about that, though. It's about power and control. They love to see how far they can push things - how rude and even abusive they can be while still holding a woman's attention. They get much more out of that "gotcha" feeling than actual love or intimacy.

I feel like this might be a red flag because here, he knows that their responsibilities have to be taken care of, but he only does them when you're sick: My...SO will take my cats to the vet if they need it, and occasionally (rarely) take care of the daily duties for them when I am feeling unwell. So that means he's willing to make occasional effort in order to not feel like the bad guy, but not daily effort to help you out. Holy shit, this guy got rightfully destroyed in the comments. Good. All of my exes were actually really sweet about my period. With my first boyfriend, I had an accident in public and he just asked me if I were okay. He wasn't embarrassed like I was. Yeah, I used to have an eating disorder too. Gave up the harsh lifestyle and now I weigh 50lbs more. Just as many men find me attractive now as they did then. It's true that I was scientifically healthier when I was very strictly controlling my calories, but I couldn't handle the sleepless nights because of starvation, eating spinach salad for lunch every day, and never being able to partake in food with friends. Yes, Yingying was a grad student from China at UIUC who missed the bus to an appointment to look at an apartment that she was interested in. She was going to be late, and this guy stopped to give her a ride but then murdered her. She had only been in the country a short time. (The way they tracked him down was nothing short of phenomenal investigative work: they identified his Saturn on surveillance, noticed that it had some kind of mark or dent on one of the tires, and were able to identify it …

Oh my god, that is so horrible. I'm so sorry. None of this should've happened to you. I hope you've been able to get therapy. I think physical size does make a difference. Remember the guy that kidnapped and murdered Yingying Zhang in Illinois? His girlfriend wore a wire to help the police and/or FBI and he mentioned she was an easier target, weighing closer to 100lbs than 150, because "it's 50 fewer pounds to get rid of."

Furthermore, even if a man is pursuing you and doing all the right things, you have to hold back on true feelings for as many months as possible. It's highly likely that they're either faking it to get something out of you or they'll lose feelings around the 3-month mark and break things off. Romantic fantasies, ingrained in our minds by Disney movies and pickme female relatives, are women's greatest enemies. Women need to learn to use logic instead of engaging in ridiculous fictional storylines…

Yes but it's also part of the standard PCOS cocktail (metformin, birth control and spironolactone). I'm not diabetic at all (my blood sugar always tests at 88) but I still take it. Again I'm not saying you should or this is what's happening, it's just one possibility and it's a pretty common thing, which is why I'm suggesting it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/03/20 06:40 AM

Yeah, it's very common. If they give you metformin, ask for the extended release (ER) version; it's much more tolerable and still generic. Definitely talk to them about your depression too. Put your energy and time into self-care. Go to the doctor as many times as you need to. Find a way to get therapy, and do activities that you enjoy for yourself. Figure out what the next goal in life is for you, and take small steps to reach it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/03/20 06:29 AM

Hey, I'm so sorry to hear this. Do you have a safe place to live and access to therapy? I'm not a doctor, and I'm not saying this is the case, but when I was 21 I gained like 50lbs. Some of it was stress eating, but a lot of it was undiagnosed PCOS and as soon as I was diagnosed and got on metformin, it was much easier to control my food/sugar cravings. I lost weight, especially from my face. Maybe look up the symptoms and speak to a doctor if you have some of them.

If men are such complete and total enemies of women- If most men would abuse or kill women, given the chance (as happens in countries like Afghanistan, where 90% of women have been abused, and it's totally accepted)- If men generally come into contact with a woman thinking about how he can use her, and how he can manipulate her to get what he wants, and meeting up with, or even talking to a man is equivalent to the beginnings of psychological warfare- Why should women bother dating at all? I think I'm speaking for most women here when I say that we tried this. We gave it a go. We didn't worry about the long-term in the beginning so much. We slept with him too early. We made excuses for him when he didn't reply to our texts. We remained relaxed despite his red flags. We put on a fun, carefree persona while being desperately anxious inside. Did any of that ever lead to a relationship? Probably a few times, but for the vast majority, no. *This doesn't work for us.*

This is men's nature. Almost all of them viciously abuse their wives in countries where it's socially acceptable. In countries where it's not, they pretend to be enlightened while "knowing" the whole time that they're superior and that they "should" have the right to beat, manipulate, and kill their wives, but this divine right has been taken away by crazy liberal feminists who are way too big for their britches. This is why I generally stay away.

Yeah, absolutely. Just be like, "guy, I'm looking for an actual relationship where you take me out and treat me like a proper girlfriend. I'm not interested in x, y, and z behaviors that you're doing now, including getting me excited and then cancelling." Fully expect him to agree, but then change nothing, at which point you can say you're out and block him. Then you won't have to feel bad. Don't get caught up in the hope that he'll change.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that in some parts of the world, like India, the parents support the daughter in finding a husband, and so they would look at any boys with a critical eye, and that would be helpful in weeding out the bad ones. (I know that some of them sell their daughters off too.) Meanwhile in the West, girls are trying to do this on their own, heavily under the influence of patriarchy and too young to understand how bad and abusive a whole ton of men are.
