I really have hindered myself by not dating outside of my one and only GF in my 20s. It's so so much harder and you have so many expectations as you're older dating as a man.

Don’t be like me and shoot yourself in the foot with the girl you like cause you don’t take a chance.

The best social skills I felt I ever had was when I bartended in Japan.

I have no social circle to speak of really, and although it's soul crushing sometimes, the hottest girl I've ever went on a date with came from Hinge. I would've never believed I could even get a date with her prior.

I struggle greatly with this. It just has never felt natural to me so when I feel like things are heading in that direction I get scared shitless.

Well she was behind the bar working that day so I felt it was inappropriate, I felt even a little embarrassed because the owner was right there. But that was the most blatant interest I'd ever felt but then this past Friday it was like super weird.

Too many to count but one of the ones that stuck the most with me was last Halloween. I've always had this great playful dynamic with, she was off that night and I ran into her at the bar I frequently visit. I don't know what got into me, but I literally came over while she was dancing with another guy and started talking to her. We started play fighting back and forth, he walked away and eventually she was like I dare you to do something looking me straight in the eye. I just walked away. This …

I have for the first time in about three years a date on Friday and it's taking every fiber of my being not to cancel.

I'm not gonna lie I've been jaded for years over my ex cheating on me, even though I know there was nothing I could've done that would've stopped it. Said she loved me the week before, next week said she had kissed some dude back when she said it. Fucked me up eternally.

I think I have this same exact problem. I just can't show sexual interest in women anymore. I feel gross.

I've gotten the same more times than I can possibly count. It's likely because I never was comfortable showing her I wanted to sleep with her and tried to be the platonic "cool" friend.

Opposite for me, it's been awful being hung up for the same girl for the past five years. I don't know what else to do at this point honestly.

I'm the same way since my ex. I feel gross even looking at women let alone actually touching them.

I feel the same. It's been five years and although there have been some nice girls they just don't compare to my ex. She's married and has a a kid now but I've pretty much given up at least I loved once I suppose.
/r/seduction19/04/22 01:21 PM

You're right man. But probably I don't think I'm worth saving. Do you have any tips or anything on how to be more honest?
/r/seduction04/04/22 07:28 PM

It’s been this way going on five years after being dumped by my first ex so I’m not sure it’s gonna get any better honestly. I don’t know how to show any kind of sexual interest in girls
/r/seduction04/04/22 05:34 PM

Yeah I have really bad sexual shame the last few years. Feels dirty to me even looking at women sexually. Honestly I wish I could do that but I bet I would just end up trying my hardest to ignore her, which of course looks worse.

Same here. I used to not let it bother me too much but after my first girlfriend cheated/broke up with me, it terrifies me to even look towards attractive women now.

I feel so pathetic about my lack of trying after reading this post, I literally have no excuses. Man you keep on rocking. I think many of us needed to see how much we really hold ourselves back in the end.

I used to not feel this way but after my ex-girlfriend I always feel this deep sense of shame for even looking at girls in a sexual way. I can't imagine any girl looking at me in that way either so maybe that's part of it, idk.

I could've written this myself, I'm 29 black male so I can super relate. I've been depressed ever since my ex-girlfriend cheated/strung me along over four and a half years ago, and it still isn't much better. I totally bought into the fantasy thought we could make it work, blah blah but as she used me to branch swing to another guy, I just couldn't believe she would do that, as I was left with all these unrequited feelings while she just moved on. I completely lost my sense of self, and honestly…

I wanted to after my ex girlfriend, she was my first and all that, but honestly I'm glad I didn't. If anything I couldn't imagine the hurt on the people who actually did care about me, while all I could think about is a girl who didn't want me. That light switch moment broke my soul. Although I definitely ain't happy and I don't think I'll ever have the capacity to love again, you're here for a reason might as well live it the way you want to.

Years later I still think it was my weakness and neediness that drove my ex into another man's arms. I have no choice but to bear that responsibility, cause blaming her solves nothing.

As soon as I told my ex how much I cared about her was when she started to walk out the door. I wish I could express how I feel but they can't help but be un attracted no matter how much they say it's what they want. Talk to your male friends or your close family members, never the women you're dating.
/r/askTRP12/02/21 09:12 PM

I feel you man, it's been going on four years now and after the occasional date honestly I don't feel anything towards women anymore. Still can't get that girl out of my mind.

Take it from someone who still is recovering after my ex said "Let's be friends" three years ago, don't do it. She's just keeping you for the validation while searching for someone she actually wants to fuck, she doesn't actually care about you anymore. I know it hurts but you will be so much better off in the long run, I promise you.

I haven’t talked to her in years since and like she’s still just as vivid in my mind. None of them are interesting after her as lame as it sounds. If you wanna talk any about it hit me up anytime

My ex did the same minus she cheated on me then strung me along but I didn’t know any better then sadly. Since then I have absolutely no game cause my ego got hurt so bad, feels like I go in circles over and over. I’ve tried a few times but it only ever made me angrier, not sure what else to do. I wish you luck though man.

I feel you man, but for me it's been about three years. I hope you start feeling better. I even bagged a girl for a ONS hotter than her (but couldn't get it up, felt even more shame) and I honestly think it's made it worse. I don't even try with women recently my head is so fucked.

Japanese girls are heavily opposed to doing any kind of PDA from experience. You gotta take em somewhere (love hotel, your crib, or w/e) to escalate to any kind of kissing or whatever, they're always super aware of people's perspective on them, it's just the way they're socialized.

I feel the same. Sure being alone sucks sometimes, but I'd much rather prefer the peace of mind. I see attractive girls but that's all they are, there will always be another one. I'm like completely apathetic towards them now.

I think every guy here has had this happen at least once. In my case at least, it was when I first started to internalize the pill. She checked out of the relationship months before when she asked you for a break. That's why it doesn't bother her in the slightest, her attraction was dead by that point. My ex did exactly the same, and I thought like you that I would try harder to keep her not knowing that it would only push her away. I know it hurts man, believe me. It took me years and it does f…

I experienced the same, but we gotta realize when we get comfortable is where we start fucking up. We think we're doing the best in our minds as of to what she wants, but what she think she wants and what she responds to are two entirely different things. All this stuff likely turned her off, no matter how good intentioned it might have been. Once girls know they have you they don't get that turmoil that they need.

Being jealous won't get you anywhere, speaking from experience. I was in the same place you were a few years ago man, it's what brought me here. Just try and do better in the future. Take back your life.

She was just so inexperienced it hurt to watch her interact with others, cause (like all women) she was just so much into her feelings, and didn't reflect how her behavior came across to others, especially men when she got rejected or when she felt she didn't get what she was promised, the fairy tale fantasy. We all know that shit is a double standard and would've been locked up if it was the other way around, but I do feel sympathy, she was so so naive about interactions with men. That episode …

Basically she was on a super popular Japanese reality TV show called Terrace House, and a few episodes back she had a huge outburst at a dude that seemed really uncalled for, he accidentally washed her wrestling uniform and ruined it. That previous weekend, she was going to get together with this guy (Kai), but they decided they both wanted different things, so a lot of pent up emotions and disappointments obviously added fuel to the fire when he slipped. She embarrassed him in front of all the …

It was my ex that brought me here in the first place a few years ago, first everything at 23, blue-pilled as could be. I think it's completely killed any attraction I could ever have in a woman again the way things went down in the end, but now that I know what I do, I was being a bitch towards the end of that relationship so it was only right for her to cheat on me it feels. It was the worst/best thing that ever happened to me cause I had to pick myself up alone while she was with some other du…

I've been where you are man, a few years ago. It's not worth it. Even from here on if I'm miserable every day for the rest of my life broken over how I got did, it's not worth it. I can't say you'll forget about it, but it does sting a little less and eventually you won't care what she's doing. It's definitely a struggle man, as I almost reverted back all the progress I made myself after doing nothing the previous day. But it's all about consistency. Just doing anything productive day by day, and keep building up on it. We have it so much better than most attention starved people right now, being able to be alone and keep doing what you're doing to build yourself up even a little bit, is what will help subside those feelings.

I have the same exact issue man, I've been trying to ween myself off it but it's so difficult when it's so easy. I just came off a streak of 3 weeks because I ended up looking at porn that I've saved on a backup drive for years, followed by old nudes of my ex and I felt like absolute dogshit after. Yeah it can be a little frustrating at first, but that's just the way they communicate there. I'd argue picking up on body language is even more important because the majority of what people say is fluff and/or beating around the bush. Not at all man, once you get adjusted, it can be a really nice place to live. If you learn how to watch Japanese people, you'll understand how to read between the lines when they say "your Japanese is so good!" even though it's shit, or "yeah, lets' go out again" or whatever when they have no intention to ever. Couldn't agree with this more. As soon as I started to real fall for my ex is when she started distancing herself (boredom, certainty) , because I dedicated all my time and happiness to try and make her happy even half way across the globe. Sure, it’s just super conservative here honestly man. You come here thinking things will be the same as back home yeah you’re gonna be struggling a while. There are so many unwritten social rules here you’re gonna fail until you get the hang of it, it’s just the way it is. PDA is a big no no in general here, Japanese people make a constant effort to show as little as possible, most I see is holding hands or the girls clinging on their boyfriends. Yeah it’s a bit wild man. There are so many unwritten social rules you gotta learn at first (not hitting on girls on the train, no PDA in public (usually, rarely you get some bold ones who get a thrill), and tons of people dating coworkers) but once you go out and fail a bunch you’ll eventually get the hang of it. Japanese girls are almost universally very reserved upon first meeting, but it’s just how the society makes them to behave. Once you start making moves and stuff, sure you’ll turn some…

For sure man. Everyone wants to pretend their alpha all the time, but life beats you down when you least expect it. It’s important to keep that masculine frame when you can, but there will be times it cracks I think. We gotta be there to support each other during those times as real vulnerable men. Oh man, me too. It’s gotten much better over the last year, but I still don’t feel any genuine joy about my life, and I think one place to start is by changing my surroundings. That’s what you have to…

Exactly the same situation man. It still hurts like hell two and a half years later and has got me constantly intimidated at being any kind of vulnerable with anyone. I understand where you’re coming from as I’m in a similar situation in Japan. I’ve completely isolated myself from social activities because a combination of fatigue and fear of change, and my bad experiences with people here have made me completely shut them out. But nothing changes. The thing is I can blame the world and make a million excuses for why things won’t go right or that my fear is justified but...to get what you want you have to take a risk. When I was with my ex girls seemed so much more interested by default, but once she walked I got nothing, it can be a terrible blow to a man's confidence. Suddenly no one seems interested while you're down. Sadly it seems like a biological part of us....

Girl wrapped her arms around me a few weeks ago at a club staring in my eyes and I was so put off I froze. That was about as much of a fuck me look I’ll ever get in my life.

The beginning stages are a bit different here due to cultural differences but it’s not that different in the long run.

You either do something to change it, or you don't man. Everyone here has been in the same boat.
/r/askTRP10/07/19 05:06 AM

I've wondered this in the past, but some things are simply out of our control. The sooner you accept it for what it is, you'll be free.
/r/askTRP10/07/19 04:00 AM

I can look back no and realized I had a strong co-dependence on my ex, but I really think it was out of genuine love. That's why it destroyed me so much, but it's either to think that the world isn't fair and that she can find someone else 10x easier than me, or to keep trying and let go things outside of my control.

Same here man, makes you lose faith in people but you sooner or later will learn and accept it is the way it is. Its not pathetic man, think we all go through it, and although I still love her and am hung up on her I know she ain’t coming back. But I’ve been an emotional wreck for the past few years while I imagine her with the dude she left me for.
/r/askTRP05/07/19 05:10 AM

Ummm in my case not really, bunch of baggage, first girlfriend and all that. Girl literally threw herself at me but I just couldn’t do anything last weekend. It’s pathetic. Actually I found it by accident while browsing other subreddits and it’s changed my life but, it’s hard man. It’s even harder. You know the truth and can’t forget it, so it can make your life feel meaningless but yeah once you accept the way that this is the way women and men are things get a bit easier. It’s rough stuff.
/r/askTRP04/07/19 02:01 PM
1

Oh yeah that’s probably normal here honestly...it’s just kinda different but I’d say she’s definitely at least interested
/r/askTRP04/07/19 01:57 PM

Sometimes they are just legitimately busy but yeah if she doesn’t respond in a few days I consider it a lost cause.
/r/askTRP04/07/19 01:48 PM

Man it’s been about two years and I still ain’t over her. It’s like ever since she dumped me I’ve been cursed confidence is rock bottom and things can’t go well seems like anymore.

I’m right there with you man, I know how it feels. Hurts like hell....
/r/askTRP04/07/19 01:38 PM

True that. 45 matches over the last several months and only 2 of them turned into actual dates. It’s infuriating...

I do exactly the same and it’s super irksome
/r/seduction29/06/19 07:56 AM

No problem dude stick in there you’ll be fine
/r/askTRP17/06/19 11:04 PM
2

Yeah I’m the same here living in Chiba and it’s incredibly tough. Do you have any tips you might be willing to share?
/r/askTRP17/06/19 10:48 PM
3

I try to ignore them but most of the time it strictly is due to this crippling fear of rejection I have now after getting dumped by my ex two years ago.
/r/askTRP17/06/19 10:19 PM
1

I’m trying my hardest to quit all of them but it’s still so hard because of how ingrained they are. You really can’t avoid it in some capacity. And even though you know it really brings nothing positive to your life, you can’t help but think you miss out on something that really doesn’t even exist. Like you have to prove yourself, whatever that even means.
/r/askTRP14/06/19 01:23 AM
3

Do the biggest favor to yourself, and just end it here. The sooner you end, the faster you'll heal. Like others have said, it's always worse than you think it is...

I didn't have one until I was 23 after feeling the same thing. You still have plenty of time, trust me.
/r/seduction29/05/19 01:47 AM

Damn man sounds like we both have a similar experience. Did you have some mutual friends that hooked you up or did you just hang around? I feel like a 27 dude hanging around there will seem a bit off, like they’ll be on their guard
/r/askTRP17/05/19 08:36 AM
2

Thanks man, I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me, always reassuring to know there have been other brothers over here experiencing the same thing and got through it. I’ll give it another go and see if things get any better.
/r/askTRP17/05/19 05:41 AM

Nah it’s a long story man. We met at her college here dated for a year and a half and when I went back home to finish my degree long distance took its toll on the relationship.

While most of the friends I had made while in school were more open than others, after coming here I think a lot of it is out of ignorance instead of a deeply seated racism towards others. Of course there are assholes here like there are anywhere in the world but the times I’ve kinda brought it to light with my friends when talking they thanked me as they had never had even considered why they think the way they do. Yeah...that is definitely what they expect here. I’ve almost forgotten how to be…

Right. I’ve become too complacent here doing whatever I could to not rock the boat. I hardly interact with people my own age outside of every once in awhile with an old friend. True, don’t know why I’m putting them in this special category, didn’t even realize I was. I have learned over the past year to just go out and even when I talked to some girls or whatever it wasn’t the focus, it was just to talk to people in general. I might have been thirsty immediately after the breakup for a while (ov…

Yeah, but maybe I just wanted them to like me for who I am not playing up the fact I’m a black foreigner to them. Which looking back is likely the opposite of what I should’ve been doing. I was likely afraid of being seen as the loud American asshole that disturbs the peace (they’re big on that here) But likely, I should’ve been owning it as a strength of mine. You think so? It’s so hard to read girls here now, and I almost can’t distinguish politeness and attraction so I could just be oblivious…

Well if I could find them, like I hardly ever see non Japanese people unless it’s in passing like the train station. Even the ones I see on Tinder none of them match lol. Not exactly the ideal place to hit on them when those stations are jam packed most days..

I appreciate that man, I really do. Yeah, I was never trying to be accepted by everyone, but likely subconciously I think I was learning to mimic all the passiveness around me not to cause problems, blend in and just get by. Right. I know I'll never be Japanese, and I'm not trying to be. Yeah, I was probably that person a bit more while in school, but the work culture has likely drained me of that energy I once had before.True. Yeah I have been for the past few years after my bad breakup with my ex, but I’ve finally felt I’ve finally gotten over her and felt like I have wasted so much time, I’m 27 now and she’s been my only GF. Ehhhh I think that maybe I just have the friend vibe or something, the girls I went out with both times said they had boyfriends towards the end of the night, so I just took that as a rejection. Yeah I’m a teacher at these schools man lol. It’s always in passing not at any place i frequent tbh. …

When you don’t have your brothers and family around here it can be easy to slip into it when you’re just around a majority of passive Japanese salarymen all the time, for sure. Well I ain’t got none either, I just don’t understand the game here I guess. It was easy in college (met ex through a friend) but when you’re actually out working here it can be tough. You have any suggestions to get back feeling like I should. I know it’s a difficult question but if you have anything at all, I would real…

Well, I’m 6 “1 and taller than most, but there are definitely guys taller than me every once in a while especially in Tokyo/Yokohama area. Ummmm they used to, especially in college. But after being here so long I don’t think I even look at girls/people more than a glance here, almost try to ignore them more (partly due to being conditioned to Tokyo), and eye contact ca…

Damn is that right? Maybe I’m just not lucky out here or something cause even on Tinder or going out I these girls don’t give me hardly anything to work with. Maybe I’ve been here too long and personality wise became more Japanese, passive and all that. Feels like my game has been going downhill, even the girls that went out with me almost always have boyfriends recently. I dunno why they would even go out in the first place if that was the case honestly.

Ah I gotcha. People are still inexperienced over here when it comes to people of different races, especially mixed kids. They could’ve lived in japan and been culturally Japanese their whole lives but just on basis on skin color it can be tough..

Umm yeah I live in Funabashi in Chiba right on the water, and I’m not far from Tokyo or Yokohama and all that. I usually go out every weekend down to either of those, but it’s so easy to waste money chasing ass down there...I can make bar guy friends easily but when it comes to approaching here it’s almost non existent.

Nah man, I’m black from the states. That’s probably one thing that’s hindering me cause it’s not necessarily everyone but there is a kind of admiration for white people/skin here. My ex was Japanese as well, but since then it feels like I dunno... Yeah, I’m totally fine on Japanese, I’ve studied 8 years and lived here going on four now. Have to be careful about drinking too much falling deeper into depression, but I think as someone that's in the same situation, being a recluse will eventually only make your need for socializing more profound. I just have learned to go out and not expect anything.

I was never the type of person to post a ton on social media, only when I thought I had something important to me that I wanted to share with people I normally couldn’t contact or see. Even less after graduating college a few years ago. I feel you on that man. I still wait around hoping to hear from my ex most days, but I realize now that it’s a waste of time. Her cheating on me broke me in more ways than one, but even since then I’ve had my share of embarrassing stories chasing girls, you have to find other girls to talk to to get you out of the scarcity mindset. I’m trying to do so myself because missing her and not doing anything will only drive you crazy.
/r/askTRP01/04/19 04:24 AM

Damn man, I feel for you on that. I couldn’t possibly imagine..but it’s exactly like you say, we all do stupid things when we’re in love... Yeah, me and my ex were each other’s first, late for me now being 27 but yeah. I appreciate the advice man, I’ll try and get back out there because sitting here worrying about who she’s with isn’t gonna ever help me.

Thanks for the tough love man, my last breakup was really bad and it’s got made whatever self esteem I used to have non-existent tbh. I know it sounds really stupid and illogical. I just cant see why any other girl would like me after ive been dumped, makes me hesitate/ sabotage in everything I do probably out of fear of being hurt. She’s definitely not like that, neither was my ex, but sometimes that’s what makes it harder. That’s the hard thing, almost forgotten how to just live in the moment, …

I don’t know if the same things apply man, when trying to talk to this Japanese girl cause there are so many cultural differences. You’re probably right but I can’t get rid of this anxiety, it eats at me. I just have a feeling it’s a friendly hangout to her. Not considered as an actual date. This nagging feeling. I doubt I can even make a move how I am now overthinking things.
/r/seduction27/03/19 01:48 AM

Nah, you’re totally fine man, I appreciate the vote of confidence, honestly. You think I have a shot then? I hope so anyways...
/r/seduction27/03/19 12:53 AM

Why do you say that? I just can’t convince myself she’s actually interested and not just being nice. She’s literally coming right after her fucking dentist appointment to meet at 8:30 but I can’t for the life of me think that’s a good sign. Just an excuse to leave early or w/e.
/r/seduction27/03/19 12:46 AM

I'm going through the same thing with a girl at my part-time job, me, her and the boss are the only current employees, and while I talked to her a bit before I even started working there, I'm cautious of making things awkward at work if she turns me down. We have a date next Friday, and even now I'm super worried on how I should proceed from here.
/r/seduction27/03/19 12:33 AM
1

I've found out that most of the time I do this, and don't communicate my interest properly, is because I'm super nervous. or trying to get the girl to like me. It's hard to control it, but it's good to try and treat everyone equally, attractive woman or not. Once you get past that, things should surely get more manageable.
/r/seduction27/03/19 12:09 AM
1

Ah cool man, I really appreciate it. Now in mind I can’t understand why she would open it up on Friday so late, just seems like it’s an easy way to leave if the date sucks. Even stuff like this I can’t help but to overthink. Thinking there’s no way she would actually be interested in me. Can’t erase the word pity from my mind.

Between my two jobs, I barely have time to talk to anyone my age, with the best chance being pretty much at my bar gig. And that even, it's been so long, and I've become so reserved since my breakup to protect my already fragile ego, I have no idea how to interact with most people my age here, not to mention the cultural differences. People say I could be slaying the ladies here, but my confidence has hit rock bottom since I was cheated on/dumped, feel like a terrified puppy dog. Being American …

Eh, this stuff bothers the hell out of me. Even just seeing that she hasn't read my message half a day later. The anxiety kills me, but I can't help the uncertainty. This is why I can't ever get anywhere. Yeah, I really loved the girl, we were each others first everything so seeing her move on to someone else so easily while I was in shambles over the memory of her has made it unbearable. To be honest,I was overly concerning myself of the possible implications at work and making it awkward if/when she rejects me. That's why I was trying to give up in the first place, but I do like her. Oh yeah, I know she has other stuff going on, everyone does, but I wasn't trying to impose. This month she happened to not be at the bar due to working weekends this month, end of the fiscal year stuff, so that's why I asked her over text. Yeah, I know how dumb I'm being honestly, but since my ex dumped me a few years ago, my confidence has been bottom barrel about this kinda stuff. Yeah, I still feel like whenever some girl shows interest in me now, it's pity, so it completely makes my mind go all over the place. I already sent the message, so what should I do? Just follow up, and say how about "insert date here" and leave it to her?
/r/seduction18/03/19 06:02 AM
1

Honestly, being in Japan and the cultural implications of being here for years has messed with how I approach girls here, or lack of. I have to convince myself I'm not being pitied so I can just do it. How does it sound to you? Does it sound just like her being platonically nice? Or is there possibly some interest there?
/r/seduction18/03/19 05:55 AM

I mentioned I would hit her up again and she said "please do" a few days ago, but my friend mentioned that I should go ahead and make concrete plans. I just went ahead and asked her today what days she was free.

I guess my ego is too fragile still even two years later to go out and approach random girls in bars. I just don’t know what to do. It’s pathetic I know, but this is the extent of interaction with the opposite sex I have these days.

I should’ve been a bit more clear about when I asked her honestly. The concert was 2 months ago, when she said she couldn’t go. We were talking a few weeks ago while it was dead at work, and she mentioned she loved some food so I mentioned that I’ll take her to a place after she gets a bit of free time. It’s been over a year and a half for me and I stil feel the exact same. Completely broke any confidence or interest in living for me. I still get queasy when I think about her becoming intimate with another guy.
/r/askTRP01/03/19 09:43 AM

It’s like we’re the same person. I always think things are my fault and that I deserve it. It’s a toxic way of thinking that usually only gets worse as you deal with things that will be undeniably out of your control. But you can’t be so hard on yourself, because there are things you can do to improve yourself.
/r/askTRP25/02/19 04:55 AM

This happens to me all the time, even though I know nothing about them. But it intimidates me, or even more than that being rejected. It’s a tough habit to break but you can only get better by talking to more women.
/r/askTRP25/02/19 04:50 AM
1

Yeah, making it about race will forever be a losing battle here. If you’re a tourist I’d argue it’s easier to find a fling than if you’ve lived here a long time. It’s really weird, because the longer you’ve lived here, they see that you’re not a clueless foreigner, the less attractive you are to the girls who want a strictly foreign boyfriend. Not all girls are like that, it’s just what I’ve noticed. But yeah, it’s definitely your best weapon to play up your foreignness here to meet girls and ge…

It’s definitely not as direct here, all about social circles and going from there. It can be a headache. If you’re white, you’ll be instantly popular as a kind of status symbol to most girls.

I’ve been here going on 3 years now and I wish I could tell you. It’s almost impossible if you don’t have a social circle here. Not all of them are this way, but they have a strong group mentality here and although they project the image of being worldly, most of them can be extremely close minded due to ignorance.

It might be a little bit difficult to find a doctor willing to get that done in Japan, but if not I'll definitely look into it. I think it's more on the therapist side, but the last time I tried it, it only made me more defensive of my ex, so I quit it. Just didn't seem like it actually helped, only made the feelings for my ex stronger. It's so hard for me to think about people like that is the thing, if I wasn't serious I wouldn't be trying to talk to someone, but I know that's probably not the…

That might be something worth looking into man, I appreciate the help. I need to take a look into that.. I’m definitely not gay, or anything, definitely think there are attractive girls, but it’s like I’m ashamed being a guy now looking at girls or something...like I’ll be exposed. I swallowed the red pill to try and tackle some of these issues after my ex dumped me but it’s just not going all that well.

It’s probably the opposite, to be honest. I don’t think I’m good enough for anyome, because I got cheated on and dumped by the girl I loved so I’m afraid of interacting with women period. It’s totally killed my confidence. Just being around attractive girls makes my anxiety fly through the roof now. So much that I’d rather stay inside most days. We were both each other’s first kiss, boyfriend/girlfriend and all that, so seeing her move on so fast hurt me to my core. Yeah man, it’s awful I wouldn’t wish this feeling on anyone.. I haven’t slept with anyone, my I think I have a phobia of women and being vulnerable now. I just always think about what she’s doing, no other girls seem attractive to me, nor am I attractive to them I’m guessing. I don’t see myself being worthy since I’m the one who was dumped.
/r/askTRP11/02/19 10:47 AM

Probably so. (As I sit here with a platonic friend from college) She showed that she wanted to be with me and was serious up until the decline. During long distance she cheated on me, and it just broke me. Honestly, Im just tortured by the memory of her now.

Yeah, I just really don’t have anyone I can ask without it sounding super weird around here. I think the last time I hugged someone was my ex over a year and a half ago now, and even when I meet up with good friends every now and then and we end up parting ways, it’s kind of an awkward goodbye because I feel like touching another girl even platonically is wrong. Almost like the lack of primarily female contact has turned into a phobia. Yeah, Ive been trying to put so much into practice but this …

I literally freeze/tense up whenever it feels like somebody offers to hug me, touches me anywhere and back away... even just platonic stuff but it’s severely hindering me it feels.

This is what caused my ex to leave me. I totally smothered her, because of long distance and things happening in my personal life. I can’t blame her the way I was acting, but I did it because I really loved her. It sucks that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Man I wish I had the perfect answer but I don’t. I’m trying to break my porn addiction myself, deleting my huge stash day by day. I think it’s alright though if you actually think of some girl you’ve actually seen with your imagination rather than some girl on a monitor.
/r/askTRP13/01/19 11:41 PM

Nah man, I totally understand how you feel. I’m in the same spot, but jerking it to porn actresses and people I will likely never meet in real life just makes me feel dirty after, every time.

I don’t have any girls I’m talking to either, but I notice every time I do it, I’m usually watching some fucked up porn or something. After that, it only makes me feel ashamed and not actually try to actually talk to people I’m attracted to, because watching porn I don’t actually have to try, it’s too easy and it can fuck up your mind, at least in my experience.

I feel the same man, I can’t trust girls anymore.
/r/askTRP31/12/18 11:19 AM

I feel exactly the same. It’s probably because I watched way too much porn when I was young, it’s so easy to mess up your sexual drive. I can’t think about normal girls I see everyday and do it, it’s always these unrealistic models, which makes you not even try anymore....I honestly think that doing it is fine every once in a while, but when it becomes mandatory to watch porn to get off I think that’s when it becomes a problem.

Most definitely, I'm still not great at it, but I'm trying.

Although some of my friends have luck with it, it’s almost just another social media validation like thing, so after weeks of countless chasing I just deleted the app all together. I’d rather just talk to people I meet out and about, that’s when you realize the girls on those usually aren’t all that special.

When it becomes addictive is the real problem. Your brain starts to have unreal expectations for girls you meet, or you think you're already satisfied by watching it, so you don't try anymore. Also it doesn't require any work, so you can easily always get your fix, without the fear of rejection. I definitely to hit girls up more when I haven't, and it helps my energy levels. I think rubbing one off every once in a while is fine, but when you associate these unrealistic images constantly with hav…

Knowing you were cheated on is a feeling I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. It can actually destroy your sanity and trust. After my ex broke up with me and I found out she "cheated" it ruined my relationships, jobs, just because all I could all I could do was focused on how I felt betrayed. I actually wish I had never found out, I might have healed faster. I've promised to myself that I wouldn't ever cheat on someone I cared about how I was, but I don't know the future. Just seems like even in t…

I've just stopped giving it much any thought. I live in Tokyo now, and between trains, buses, and how narrow all the sidewalks are in general, it's just best not to give it any thought, unless the person has went out of their way to show they're just being an asshole.

Yeah, speaking Japanese at more than a basic level should be the first priority.

Man if you wanna go for it, I’ll be right behind you. haha Yeah, finding that balance is the most important. It’s one of those things that I know the theory behind, but I always feel like I’m being rude to the person, all up in their business.

Part of it might be because Ive been in Japan so long, which is super conservative, (no one keeps eye contact) but probably more than that it’s feelings of unworthiness underlined. Feels like I have to apologize for even just looking at people that closely. Or maybe I’m afraid that people will actually see the man behind the mask. I’m working on it, but it’s something that is so easy to lose all progress super quickly..

This is easily my biggest hurdle to overcome. I always feel so damn dirty, like I’m being exposed.

I’ve tried to just assume they’re attracted but it’s super hard here, especially in Japan. Unless they’re like high school students, then in that case it’s super obvious.

That’s likely where I’m lacking. I gotta get back to the gym again. Being in Japan has totally messed up my workout routine.

This past Saturday, I was in a gay club with some friends just having a good time, and this cute girl consistently was eye-fucking me from across the room, constantly pointing for me to come over to her. We ended up dancing a few times, but I could never actually touch her, must've been like sexual shame or something. I wish I would've been able to put these in practice. How can I actually get over this? The lack of being able to physically escalate, is what seems to kill me most all the time.

Yeah, I figured as much. Just thinking, all I gotta do is get under some other girls and I’ll just forget doesn’t seem like it’ll happen. Sure a sexual physical connection is fine, you’ll never hear me say I don’t want it, but when you actually care about the person you’re doing it with, I wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything. But right now, I’m just trying to improve myself in anyway I can, and although I’m no where near fully healed, I’m starting to be able to appreciate the days I have, e…

It didn’t help me actually get any girls nor success in the end, but there definitely was a difference. I was actively able to look at women without feeling shame and appreciate them. I would’ve never been able to do that before. Porn really can make you look at woman as purely sexual objects instead of people, it’ll mess up your mind. Superpowers or not, I can’t really say but it really can help clear your mind.

I just relapsed after 100 days so I can attest to this. Since then, I’ve done it every night for the past week. It’s just not worth it in the end. I don’t wanna say it’s “superpowers” or any of that stuff, but i immediately regretted after I did it.

No, not at all man, I know you mean well I greatly appreciate it. Those memories and feelings are special because it was her, is the thing. Those can’t be recreated by anyone else. We were both each other’s first everything, I was 23 at the time, and it just was horrible timing that things turned out the way they did when they did. I’m used to the loneliness by this point, as I’ve driven off all my friends and family obsessing over her. I meet other girls and such around, but I’m so emotionally …

Only now have I started to gain some clarity but yeah, I know how stupid it is man. She just made me feel something I’ve never felt in those 23 years before I had met her. We were both each other’s first, by best friend and I really thought we would be together forever. But the me that she met then while I had a goal was the one that was attractive, I definitely understand that now. Only after I started to depend on her, did she feel smothered until that attraction faded away. That’s what I’ve h…

Over the past year I’ve tried, but there are really times that you want to share with people, it’s a lonely road. Especially when everyone around you “looks” fulfilled most times, it’s hard not to be envious, become even desperate for a taste of what I had before.

This story actually gave me hope for the future. I’m a year and a half in after she dumped me and I still miss her, I’ve went on several dates or anything but my baggage is holding me back, I’ve driven my friends and family away too with the same old story. I’ve honestly wanted to die since then, but I know that’s the cowards way out. I can understand why she left me then, I was pathetic. Totally emotionally dependent on her. But as I looked around last night after work, I realized that maybe th…

It's definitely messed me up. I'm definitely not ugly, but I think being raised by primarily my mother, older sister and younger sister, has molded me into this "great guy" that after my girlfriend dumped me for being a beta, helped me recognize how fundamentally flawed I was. How to change how you carry yourself, stand up for yourself. It's the absolute hardest thing to break.

At least it feels that way for me, I've studied the language for six years, and lived here for two. But the whole culture seems to revolve around closely-knit social groups. I go to bars and whatever, but I can never really pull anyone probably to the negative connotations being American, on top of black means sometimes here.

I don't think it's nearly as bad as what's written here, but I mean there is obviously nothing stopping you from getting what you want. Whether that is sleeping with girls or just going out dancing. Even though I've been fucked up recently after losing my ex-girlfriend and going to clubs, the only reason I really didn't go home with any of them was my own fault. There are definitely opportunities if you go out having fun in general and people see that.

I went out on a date with this girl last month, and we both seemed to have a good time and said we would hang out again.
