You're right, its a double standard and is logically inconsistent. I hold the terribly unpopular opinion that the problem should be remedied in the other direction and that neither parent should be allowed to dispose of unwanted children. As much as you don't agree with that, I'd hope we can both admit that your way and my way are logically consistent and fair to both genders. Each are afforded the same choice before sex. I know i'll convince no one here, or likely ever, but just wanted to menti…

He fucked -> conception. FTFY. He gets that choice. He just chooses to leave it to chance for things to go his way. If you have sex with people you don't or can't trust, its a very real possibility that a kid will result with all the legal and financial complications that come with, be they child support, adoption, abortion, doctors visits, etc. Yes theres lots of screwed up laws in the world, but if the basic paradigm everyone seems to be on board with is "I control my body", the two parties ha…

It's not an argument, its a fact. Men and women both do have a choice to have a child(rape being a very unfortunate exception). If two people have sex, just like STI's, emotional fallout, and many other effects, a child is a real possibility. I'm not claiming abstinence until your ready for children is the only choice that will prevent eternal hellfire or anything, just that men and women both have the very conscious choice to have a child. It's just at a point in time before anyone wants to thi…

Here goes all my comment karma ever: Just keep your penis out of females. Works pretty well.

I don't know what MSM is to be honest (sorry) and depending on that would answer several ways. In a feminist/women's issues forum, stories about men perpetrating crimes would, in my opinion, be the same as they were here - posted just to attempt to characterize the other gender as like those criminals. In a news or politics setting, stories about crime are just stories about crime and men and women exist as criminals and victims. But really, i don't care enough to fight with anyone over it like …

Was just expressing my opinion and ideas, which to my knowledge is the purpose of a "comments" section. But it seems respectful discourse isn't one of your strong suits. Good day sir.

Maybe we could make a wiki page of some sort for stories like this. It seems your point is when someone says "men perpetrate all violent crimes" we have some hard evidence to the contrary. This is all well and good, but do we have to read them every day? Hence my suggestion of a page stories like this can be posted and organized, whenever someone comes across one they can link it there. Whenever the above question comes up, the uninformed individual can be directed there. Maybe even a separate s…

Looks like the sensible ones set her straight. Or at least downvoted her into oblivion. The system works!

Well, at least the product makers have it right....I spot 4 male models holding babies, 3 female, and one box with both. The article makes a valid point though, "Just for Baby" or something would be an easy change to make.

I don't understand how this applies to MensRights. Because it was a female perpetrator? It was a terribly cruel crime, and she should be punished for it with life in prison.

I think this needs to be less of a gender based discussion. Have professional tournaments, and new player tournaments. I'll bet women (and male new players!) are intimidated by sitting down at a table full of players who've been doing it for years. This does not have to be a gender polarized thing.

Jeez. Thats pretty sad. After reading a little about the issue, I see why it can be an equal rights issue from the reporting side. Locker room interviews are valuable material. But I think the issue would be best solved by no one in the actual getting dressed portion of the locker room. Even if this isn't a possibility, it doesn't mean the players have to like the fact that women are walking around as they try to get dressed. Many celebrities resent the lack of privacy, they aren't called horrib…

I am so confused at how a man wrote that article. This is ridiculous.

So is the mindset. I wasn't implying otherwise, just a momentary lapse of awareness that the rest of the world reads this site too

Marriage involves a lot of trust for both parties. If you're in it for you, what reason does the other party have to think differently? If you're both in it for each other, it'll all work out. The first one is how most of America thinks, so we get a killer divorce rate. Thats my two cents. As far as the other point, the laws kind of suck, men should have equal access and responsibility for children if they wish it.

There is absolutely nothing in the OP's statements to deserve that. Got your back cowman

Granted, there could be a lot we don't know about the situation. But regardless, I guess we have vastly different opinions on what marriage is. I just can't see 'you don't make my dick happy enough' as a reason to leave two kids without a father. I think theres a bit more to life and marriage than that.

Just because this is mensrights doesn't mean that guy isn't kind of a douchebag. He cheated, then just tried to ditch his wife and two kids to go off with whoever. Do I think the 'no-fault' divorce could be abused? Heck yes. Was it in this case? Maybe not. Let the downvotes commence.

I'm kind of saddened that we have to resort to 'counter feminism' because it seems reactive and petty. On the other side I seem to agree with your sides of the above points - Genders are naturally different, there is nothing wrong with that, and as a result some tasks or stations are more suited to one or the other. It seems the problem stems from the fact that this field (Male/Female roles, rights, responsibilities, etc) is missing a key component of intelligent discussion: Respect for the othe…

So what do you think this scale implies? Is it just showing the dichotomy of loner - very emotional or is there an implication that one side is better than the other? In my opinion no one should be completely alone, and opening up to a few close friends (and significant other) is a good thing, yet the super emotional, heart on your sleeve type is unhealthy too. So somewhere in the middle is ideal for me.

My idea was twofold, look for men doing it right and post their stories here, and setting an example by being a man who acts in a way contrary to the stereotypes that lead to the unfair treatment the law gives us.

Far be it from me to do so. A great number of men throughout history are considered to be 'real men' who are doing something right, though they're very different externally, say Ghandi and Winston Churchill. So obviously no single definition or set of virtues will fit everyone, nor is it my intent to preach one such set. My post was intended to encourage men in this community to tell how they are asserting their masculinity, or find articles/blog posts about other men are asserting theirs. So ye…

We are doing something about it. Your part is improving and changing yourself. It's a helluva job, but you're the only one who can do it. That is precisely my point. I don't mean to encourage out of place posts on this reddit, but if appropriate what about stories, blog posts, and images that celebrate men who are making progress in the field of men's rights? As much as the negative information shows us how things are wrong in the world to bring up in conversation, wouldn't positive information …

Yes, talking here is much better than not talking about it at all. Agreed that information is important, as is knowing the truth. I would agree that a great many men have important day to day activities to support families and themselves, but i disagree slightly on one point. Being vocal is very important, but no one (in my opinion) is too busy to be an example through their actions of what a man can be. Showing Men deserve 'rights' which in the context of this community seem to mean not being c…

Awesome! I don't think anyone would know that from the content of this subreddit though. Post stuff about it! I'm not saying people aren't doing things, just there seems to be none of the positive stuff in here, when it is in fact going on (as you are a testament to)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
