First off, I apologize for reacting with anger. I want to discuss, not fight. I come to you with this suggestion because I am a woman. I know a network of many different women. The majority of their relationships sprung up from friendships. I'm not an outlier.

Fair enough, I still maintain that having friendly relationships with women will make them seem less scary. This is how I stopped being nervous around men and eventually got into a long term relationship with my boyfriend. I also didn't say that infatuation is a bad thing, just that it clouds our judgement. Addressing OPs question about rejection. Really, our points aren't exactly polar opposites - they can work together.

I think it's important not to meet every woman with solely the motivation to date her. You are setting yourself up for disappointment. Often when people become infatuated with other someone, they read their every word and gesture and look for signs of affection that may not even be there. I certainly did that a lot.
