Gosh, I am reading all this and it seems the woman is the one that wants the divorce in most cases. In my case, I am the one that is wanting to leave after 33 years of a non-loving, non-sexual relationship. I really believe she wants a 'daddy', not a husband, although she would disagree strongly.

Both my two adults kids have families of their own and they told both of us that whatever we decide is between us. They both told us they would understand if we split, they know the dynamics. My wife is annoyed at that, but I think it is an appropriate response.

The house I am buying will be in my name only. The house we both live in now is in he name only. But regardless it is still part of the marital estate. I am in GA

sunk cost fallacy I did look it up. It seems to refer to economics, but I can see the emotional side as well. It is more of a transactional approach, rather than a translational approach. But, I will continue to read and glean what I can regarding my current circumstances. Thanks

I have read that many couples live separated for a while. Divorce is so final and it is always an option anyway. Buying a house doesn't hurt or help me financially as it would all be part of the divorce settlement anyway. Staying married would help her with health insurance and stuff like that. So, my emotions say walk away now by divorcing her, but I want to take this 'baby step' first. I can always divorce in 6 months anyway. To be honest, I think it will lead to divorce, but I don't want to p…

Very interesting. She kinda said that to me already. She said that once I leave and get settled in a new routine, I will realize how much I will love my independence and won’t want to come back home. She also said I would probably find another woman in my life. I told her the last thing I want is another woman. I am not about to exchange one crazy for another! I need to live by myself to get some clarity.

I wonder if how I feel is a generational thing. My parents were married until my mom died and they stuck it out raising 7 kids in almost a property situation. I learned a lot about perseverance from my folks. We NEVER were allowed to view ourselves with a 'victim mentality'. Just suck it up and move on. But, I agree with you sentiments. My eldest brother died at 57 having lived a reckless life and another brother had a heart attack at 56 (he recovered). So, that is greatly influencing my thought…

Grew up in Jersey, moved from PA after 23 years where we raised our kids mostly. Moved to Northwest Georgia in June after my wife wanted to be closer to our grandson. The move to GA was crazy with so many things to do after being around in one spot that long. I thought this moved to GA would be a 'new beginning', but it is more of the same, if not worse. I like GA a lot. Property taxes is much cheaper, everything else about the same and some things cost more. But, all-in-all, it is cheaper. I wa…

well, you are right. Staying married is better for us financially for sure. But, at this point in my life, I am ready to move on and begin to rebuild my life after my divorce. My dad b-day is today and he is 87 and I think gosh, I have 30 years ahead of me if I live that long. Just the next several months are going to be very painful. Ugh!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
