Not OP but I can completely relate and would love to share a few cents on feeling uncomfortable. I've been with my SO for eight or nine months. I definitely feel a little uncomfortable. Not to divulge too much but I have a pretty big hang up on being vocal in terms of asking for what I want and asking what he wants or if it's "good", etc. I've definitely relaxed in terms of what I feel comfortable doing with him and a HUGE part of it is getting myself out of my head. I think I'm better able to d…

You can only control yourself. If you don't feel comfortable sharing with her or you don't want to share with her then don't. Set up mental reminders to help keep yourself from over sharing. In addition you could express your views on sharing about you sex life with her. Ask her to not pry into the details of your sex life and/or not share the details of her sex life. If she really is just looking for advice on how to help her relationship perhaps pointing her towards RPW could help. It may also…

Crafty side of life: Finished crocheting a baby blanket for my SO's cousins baby shower tomorrow. Met two lovely ladies at work today who talked knitting and crocheting and informed me of a weekly knitting group at our library. So excited to try it out next Wednesday!

If I'm honest being in close proximity to her I saw several issues with her I'd never noticed before and if they were on someone else I could see how those qualities would exclude a girl like that from my own dating consideration . Maybe name these issues for her? I would try a direct but kind approach like this "Hey, I noticed this [specific issue] has been a problem for other women and I see a similar trend with you. Maybe changing it by working on [specific advice] can help with finding a LTR…

Anecdote: My SO has been very clear from the beginning. He wants kids. He doesn't want a "career girl". He wants at least one parent at home full time with the kids, ideally both. I want kids. I am negotiable on the career. Ideally I want us both at home with kids if we can swing it. Since we aren't in the financial place for kids yet (and also want a little more time together first) that means the next couple years I get to work while he pays off his remaining debt. So from his perspective if I…

I am been completely digging salads and yogurt the last few days. It's winter and we've been having a bunch of storms, so go figure! Anyway: favorite midday snacks or breakfasts recently. up to a cup of Greek yogurt (Zoi is my favorite brand that we can get from winco it's also the cheapest!) quarter cup or so --completely dependent on amount of yogurt-- of a big crunchy granola two teaspoons of raisins or dried cranberries Honestly even a super small portion of that snack fills me up and keeps …

Off topic : loneliness-inc, I have mad respect for the comments I've seen of yours on this sub. Back on topic: This whole thread is hilarious.

Drop the condescension and read the side bar already. Here are some of the important bits you missed. Advice for you is to STFU/GTFO. Check your anger at the door. Whether anger is a phase, or yours is justified, is moot here. It's pretty shallow and obvious when you project your personal frustrations on the RPW community, and not at all helpful when you do things like hector a poster as if she personally destroyed Marriage 2.0. No male-centric advice or discussion. Your comments and advice must…

According to your rules then a women is going to have to vet you on one date only, including knowing if there is even the possibility of commitment. Otherwise she gives sex immediately and immediately lowers her RMV and thus diminishes her chances of finding a good LTR. Sometimes that works. Not always. It's bad advice for a woman to say "Give out sex, because I am contributing conversation." Sex for commitment. Not sex for conversation.

If OP's goal is continuing an LTR with her then this post all the way.

First poster was /u/Domandheart, not me. I'll just refer you back to what I said before and this quote: You are entitled to nothing. Life is unfair. We all have limitations we are born with. It's up to each of us to deal with them, move beyond them, and do the best we can.

So, in conclusion, I told this story just to say: Make sure you don't lose your edge and hunger. This. Thank you for the reminder. There is no "done" until we are dead and gone. Keep moving the goal posts on yourself. Sure, give yourself a pat on the back when you reach your first goal. But just one pat and only while you're still storming ahead.

I would say the best place to start is to improve your attitude. Instead of saying "Oh I can't. Whine whine." tell yourself "I want a better life for myself. It will be hard but I can improve myself, my mind, my life." While men are most attracted to an attractive body an attractive attitude can't hurt. Especially if you need to "make up" for physical short comings a positive, kind, and caring attitude can help. Then, after you've dealt with telling yourself the wrong things, start changing the …

Oh goodness! Do you think we could get a happily married woman in her 50s to do a AMA? That sounds awesome.

Posts must include actionable advice. Low-effort, drive-by remarks don't add to the discussion no matter who posts them. A really short remark that is totally on-point is fine; the bar is a little higher for male posters. If a post is near the borderline for any other rules, lack of useful advice will seal its fate. Advice: GTFO.

Once I gain some distance from a situation I find it amusing that often the people and actions I judge most harshly are those that I easily see in myself. I'm awfully terrible sometimes but luckily (?) I usually don't exhibit my snark in public. And certainly never give a command in public like that. Ouch indeed!

I ordered The Surrendered Wife a few days ago--per the suggestions of RPW--and it just arrived in the mail today. Your field report makes me super excited to start reading. I am totally in the "control issues" boat and am a terrible faker. It feels awful and it's completely transparent. Thanks for the update!

Pink/Red flag for sure. Also here is a second for sefrus's comment. Control your self and reactions to the situation. The reality is he lied. Is that an action you are okay with? My perspective is that dishonesty is definitely not okay. Maybe had he been honest from the get go -- "I understand your perspective but I am going to maintain contact with my ex." -- you could have a working relationship. But I find lying and dishonesty terribly disrespectful and I won't stand for it. You have to decid…

I don't usually do New Years resolutions. However I made a post earlier and loneliness-inc directed me back to his post on making resolutions. So here are my behavior resolutions plus a few "keep atta" bonus goals: Behavior: self (added and moved to Priority 1) : In addition to my SO gratitude lists write a Self-Gratitude list, things I appreciate about my body/mind/self/etc or things I am proud of that are in direct relation to myself. Behavior: swear less: Record each swear word I use (and thi…

Eek! I agree. I have the urge to write about how I struggle with just jumping in so much, how I have a huge block there, blah blah blah, I don't know how, whine whine. I know the most obvious answer to any question along the lines of : "But how do I trust?" / "How do I get over fear?" Is the answer you've already given : "Just do it." It's all about practice.

Thank you for your advice. I have a regular journaling session every morning, with few exceptions. I started my journal back up again last year and I love how much clarity and awareness I can generate. I don't usually have a focus for them. I use my writing to just get out whatever happens to be on my mind for the day. I'll jot down your questions and use them as a focus point for a while. I think that will be very useful to work through these specific issues.

Are you referring to your Do New Years Resolutions Right post? If so I took a look at it earlier and think you've compiled a very good reminder for goal setting. It's along the lines of SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) goals. I'm not one for New Years Resolutions--I am of the mindset that if something is important enough I should start it as soon as I think of it--but I do appreciate the timing of your post and my own questions on how to be a better partner. In term…
