In high school I worked at a fast food chain and believe it or not actually got a couple numbers from female customers even though the place was a dump and they were attractive classy gals. Actually used the corniest line in the book once; "okay, so you wanted a large ______ and a ______ … would you like my phone number with that?" And it worked. Having this problem as well. I make my intentions clear that I am only interested in casual dating and hooking up, and girls are always receptive/okay with this, but then go crazy when I move on from them, expecting I change my mind and suddenly want a long term and monogamous relationship.

I like that! There's a really dark and weird dirt road that's walking distance from my place that might make for a nice "are you afraid of the dark? I think this road is haunted, let's take this joint for a walk." type of scenario.

Don't be discouraged by a girl who was surprised at your approaching her. Smile and jokingly apologize for scaring her. Also, I like to think of approach in terms of the movie Jaws. If a girl sees your dorsal fin coming from a mile away she will be aware of your presence when you get close to her. Imagine your surprise if you were bumped by a dorsal fin unexpectedly in the water. Best way to approach a girl is head on, and making eye contact before opening is almost a necessity (in my opinion).
