The 'thing' that happened here is that you feel you have been 'rejected' (in a very loose sense of the word) by a woman you fancy being into a dude that is nothing like you. If you actually did perform that trick 20 times, and EVEN IF you failed 100% of the time, having the cajones to actually play that card 20 times will improve your game enough to never find yourself in the friendzone ever again.
