You would have to be straight up insane to get married in California, no matter what you do, you're going to lose half of ALL your shit. Outside of California, prenups can be binding (I don't know how cali works but all there other laws are bat shit crazy so I wouldn't count on it). If you aren't married while you are getting the degree then it's not marital property. Most states do not consider marital property.
