I don't see it as misguided to compare one ideology to another: the Muslim worship Allah, the National Socialist worship Hitler or Nietzsche. Not all Muslim are extremists, not all National Socialists are SS. You could even make a strong argument that many in Hitlers army or German citizens weren't aware of any atrocities, compared to every Muslim in the world knowing about the terror their extremists cause.
