I own a small 4 plex.... i rent to those with good credit score and a good job first.... if there are two applicants and one is a man and one is a women, i'll choose the man over the women. Women tend to leave the place in better condition than the men do... but I basically get no phone calls from men and more from women. Actually it's far better than that. In sunnyvale the most expensive area around apple and palo alto it's about 2800$ a month for a 500 sqft place two bedroom. But you have to realize that you also start at 130k at 22 years old....
